Although at first listen, I found the narrator a bit overly dramatic, she grew on me and I was soon enjoying both her narration and the story.

I loved the banter and loving exchanges between Grace and Vincent. Vincent was the kind of hero that is easy to love. He's suffered the loss of two wives in childbirth and wants to keep his heart from the torment of loving again. The attempted murder part of the plot was definitely secondary to his fear of loving and losing again.

Grace our heroine agrees to marry an evil man so as to save her sister. But she has a plan. She will lose her virginity so that her evil suitor will have to reject her. She pretends to be a prostitute for one night and she ends up sleeping with Duke Vincent. He is a very tortured man. He has lost two wives and two children to childbirth and refuses to marry or risk his heart again.

When Grace ends up pregnant he decides marriage to her is inevitable but he tries to keep his distance. He is afrai
I wanted to DNF this book so bad. I guess I felt bad or thought it could get better.

I've an issue with insta-love that leads to rush marriage. The characters were okay. The ending was okay, too. See what I'm saying? Nothing too special about this one.
Bunu da beğendim ama Sessiz İntikam çok daha güzeldi.

Lady Grace Warren had been protecting her sister’s from their father since the day of her mother’s death. With just one last sister to marry off, Grace made the ultimate sacrifice by telling her father she would marry the depraved Lord Fentington after her baby sister’s wedding. Grace knew the one thing she must do to forestall Fentington from claiming her for a bride and decided the sacrifice of her virginity would be worth it, so she called upon her best friend to find a suitable candidate to ...more

In Victorian-Era England, a woman's virtue is her most highly prized possession, and along with her wealth, her most coveted attraction. "Intimate Deception", from author Laura Landon, places Lady Grace Warren in a most difficult personal dilemma. Having protected her sisters from the loathsome attentions of the repulsive Baron Fentington, Grace is being forced by her own father to accept Fentington's marriage proposal. Since Fentington taunts her with the fact that her considers her virtue to b ...more
Lady Grace has fulfilled her mother’s dying wish and saw that her 6 sisters married happily. Her sisters’ happily ever afters, however, have come at a cost to Grace. She is almost 30 now and that is pretty much a one way ticket to spinsterhood in the ton. Her father has a bridegroom in mind for her, but Grace isn’t willing to become this man’s next victim. The only way she can convince her betrothed to not marry her is to lose the one thing he values most in his bride, her virginity. With the he ...more
Very sweet story (actually the first half was pretty sad for a romance with Vincent all depressed about possibly having his paramour die in childbirth and Grace being desperate enough to do what she did) of two people who need each other, find each other, love each other, and of one woman WHOSE LOVE WILL FIX A BROKEN MAN (because of course that works!) But it was a nice tale all the same. And the smut was minimal (-1 star for that alone!) My biggest issue were the stock bad guy character(s) who ...more

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

I can't usually stomach historical romances, I mean I like them well enough but they take me ages to read. This one however did not!!!

Honestly, right now I'm like...

Laura Landon...

Overall cute!
Positive: i liked the characters and the plot was decent (even if predictable) . Vincent was lovable, Grace a strong female character...

Negative: repetitive (constant dwelling on her deception as well as his traumas due to his wives dying during childbirth).

The whole theme of the book was loss and the pain that people harbor inside. Vincent is a Duke who has lost two wives in childbirth. A very sensitive man ( right Lark?) that swears to never marry or try for children again. Six years go by and he has a Thursday appointment with a madam who sets him up with Grace.

Grace has sacrificed her future for that of her six sisters after promising to her mother on her death bed she would see them happily married. Unfortunately in order to marry off her youn

This is the second book by this author for me - just found her and read 2 books on kindle in one day! Will try to read more.

The story line has been set down in the book description and in reviews by others. I do not usually like stories in which couples meet in this way, in a brothel, but it worked here. Our heroine has saved her 6 sisters from marriage to an abusive sexual pervert of their father's age and circle and in saving the youngest has offered herself as a replacement. NOW how to save h

I'm reading this book for the second time in less than 6 months.....this must mean I love it, right?! I do! The book is extremely well written, the plot is interesting and moves at a nice pace, the characters well developed and relatable. The romance between Vincent and Grace is very sweet and touching.

Poor Vincent's fear of losing yet another wife and babe in childbirth is palpable. Grace is determined, smart, loyal, loving, and selfless to the extreme. She is also wracked with guilt at having

Lady Grace has seen her 6 younger sisters wed to the men of their choosing. Now she wants to avoid marriage to a hypocritical, sanctimonious, perverted man by being able to tell him she's not a virgin. She hopes to return to the country and just run her father's household (but who do you suppose set her up to marry the perv?) Vincent has already lost 2 wives in childbirth and has vowed to never marry and condemn another woman to a similar, agonizing death. Grace

Intimate Deception by Laura Landon Laura Landon

This book is about death, sacrifice, being unwanted and how LOVE if right, can conquer all fears. Grace has lived her life to keep the promise she made to her dying mom. She raise her 6 sisters and fought for each one to marry for love. Her father, the earl, would only let her sisters marry if their husbands paid for it. Grace made sure all her sisters got that. To save her youngest sister, she agrees to marry a truly evil man. She goes to her oldest and only friend, Hannah to lose her virgin
I never really had any interest in reading a Victorian era story, however, I was recommended this one and started the sample. The premise of the story had me and the fact that it was set back in time didn't really matter. I Enjoyed the story and it made me re-think reading more in this genre.

To save her sister's from being married off to a dangerous man the oldest sister sacrificed her own life to make sure that never happen. After the last younger sister was married off for love she was t

Heavy on the melodrama, repetitive

I understand romance has melodrama but this was overkill. I saw it through despite not being crazy about it, so it's not the worst out there, but wasn't a fan. It reads much like a soap opera in its unbelievable character changes, extremely predictable plot (so much so you think the characters are stupid to not realize), wild events that characters act like are commonplace, and characters that are just plain annoying in their tenacity and self-delusions. The thi
4.5 stars!!!

Not only is the cover GORGEOUS, but the story is awesome as well. I loved how the hero and heroine met. I will definitely have to read more of this authors books. If you like historical romances, I believe you will love this one.
Favorite. I love the audio book and highly recommend. The story was great in the begging, I do like a pregnant heroine, it dragged a little toward the end but overall great listen. The narration was excellent.
I really liked this! I recently read another book by this author and it was tedious to finish. I wasn't sure I wanted to try another but I'm glad I did.

The story has a different premise than most other historicals. Woman must lose her virginity to avoid marrying a deviant. Just so happens her BFF is the madam in a local brothel and arranges for Grace to spend time with a Duke. His previous history and fears make him, according to the madam, the perfect person to match up with Grace. And the sto
Praise for Laura Landon!

Very refreshing historical romance, loved the relationship between the h and H. Was predictable in certain parts as historical romances tend to be, but overall a thoroughly satisfying read; I couldn't put my kindle down ! This book had me crying, laughing and smiling stupidly to myself lol. *SPOILER* I also liked the way she tried to trick the readers into thinking the baron was the villain when he really wasn't. I had my suspicions about Germaine, but the twist was still

I have read three of Laura Landon's historical romance books in 3 days. LOL I am thoroughly enjoying her characters, the intrigue and the romance. Grace has been a particular favorite for me. Far from the simpering and mindless ladies that other historicals offer - here we have a woman willing to do whatever is necessary for her family and then to save herself. There is not martyrdom for our heroine. I loved that. As for Vincent. Let me say, I thought his fall was wonderful and he didn't put up ...more
