My co-judges and I were unanimous in our opinion of this book, as well - we all wanted to like it, that much I can vouch for, but it failed us miserably. For one, the I-can-see/hear-dead-people-or-other plot has kind of fizzled over already, and for another, I didn't like the seemingly high-brow, rich-kid personalities of the main characters. And then when the angels started to appear... that was that.

I also honestly didn't know how to assess Sa

When was the last time I read a paranormal YA novel? I cannot remember anymore. That was my main hesitation when I was offered a review copy of Voices in the Theater by A.S. Santos. Other than being categorized as paranormal, the story seemed more on the horror side and I also don't do horror stories. So what made me read this, then? A friend telling me she thinks there's a fit. I honestly doubted it, then, but I was craving for more local fiction so I said yes. Whe

Have you had paranormal encounters? I might have, when I was a child up to when I was in high school. There was a time I woke up in the middle of the night almost paralyzed by fright. There seemed to be something hovering over my bed. There was the sound of rustling on the floor. I had the impression that there were little creatures by my bed and that they were celebrating. I was going with them. I invited them. I covered my head with the blanket, staring up at the cloth. I don’t know how it happ ...more

Original concept! I loved how the author connected the "science" and "power" of spiritual energy and prayers as weapons against demons. The school scenes blended perfectly with the supernatural scenes, and Archangel Michael is just...delish. I already bought the second and third books, and I can't wait to dive into them!

I liked the first few pages of the novel. The idea of a Student Paranormal Research Group in a Catholic university caught my attention. Investigating the paranormal is a hot topic for teenagers so it’s most likely they will find this book interesting.

When I got to the middle of the story, I was somewhat appalled. Things and events became very ‘paranormal’ – the main character having an ability to read minds, a priest coddling persons with special abilities, as well as angels and demons appearing

This book surprised me in many levels.

I love the revelations, learning and paranormal things.

I'm actually looking forward to the next two stories of this series.

For now, I'm #TeamMichael for the brave teenager, Sam.

I can't wait to review the whole series in my blog soon!

"Bullets and demons nothing. It's your sadness that I cannot protect you from, especially if you choose it willingly."

A very faith rejuvenating book. Could have rated this 5 stars if I read this book right after I bought it.

Looking forward for their next case.

Finally finished it! Been too busy to read but I still enjoyed the moments that I get to read this book.
I loved it :) Learned many things and I liked how the characters were written. Realistic even if it's supernatural/paranormal. Cannot wait to get the next book. :D

The story had me hooked up until the last page.
It was refreshing since this is my first time reading something that I'm not into.

Totally recommended. :D
