Was so freaking amazing.

First, let me thank the author, Brooke Passmore, for sending me an EPUB copy of her book. And then, let me thank Kayla, the blog tour hostess, for inviting me to participate in the blog tour for this fantabulous story. Without these ladies, I would have never bothered to read this book.

Yeah, I totally got attracted by the cover. It's so gorgeous. That was the main thing that made me put this book on my already-overflowing TBR list. (It's stil

I always think writers should write about what they would like to pick out from a bookshelf and that is why I wrote this book. I love the wonderful idea of time travel and mixing it with the South back in the days of the Civil War. I had a blast writing this and it was the best of fun. If anyone is looking for a story of romance, history, and fantasy, then Scarlet Woods is hopefully right up your alley.

Reading this book is like going inside the Scarlet forest because I really don't know what to expect. The blurb easily sold me and I find myself wanting to read it badly and luckily I'm one of those fortunate ones to be chosen by the author to read and review this new novel of hers.

Time travelling is one of those topics that truly fascinate me. Who wouldn’t be fascinated in travelling back and forth through different time right? In Scarlet Woods, we find the lives of two people Danny Carson and

I'd like to thank the author, Brooke Passmore for giving me a chance to read this book and review it for all of you. Thank you very much!

I honestly don't know what rate will I give this novel... Until now, I don't know. It didn't WOW-ed me. I feel it is just good but not that amazing. The novel is incredibly long. Although it's not boring but seriously, there's a lot of things going on in the book. I guess the scenes are necessary and well thought... it's just that yeah... too long for my taste.

First I would like to thank Brooke Passmore for allowing me to read and review her book. As most of you know I love time travel books so when I read that this one not only time traveled but it went back to the Civil War era I was ecstatic about reading it. I also love history. I have to say that I HIGHLY recommend this book for three reasons. First this book is a time travel book that takes you back to an era where the women where to be seen not heard and secondly the history and descriptions Br ...more

Well when I got this request, I was excited since it was just the kind of book I like!

In the town of Scarlet people don't go into the woods. Mainly to avoid killers, and fictional things. However Danny is fearless, and is at the woods in the evening. While in the woods a storm begins, Danny's horse Nashville gets spooked and runs off, leaving Danny to go after him. Unable to find out where he went, Danny began to head home hoping Nashville will find his way back. Now jumping to the year 2013. M

Scarlet Woods is probably almost exactly the type of book that’s just not for me. While its romance, plot, characters, and pace might appeal to other readers, I found that it was relatively hard for me to get through the book.

First off, I have to mention the pure length of the book – 8500+ locations on my Kindle. In the past, I probably have read books longer than that, but it seemed like some plot events in the middle or even the end

Scarlet Woods opens with your first glimpse at time travel. The beginning got me excited to keep reading--this was a definite plus right out the gate for Brooke! It isn't all the time that a book grabs me from page one. Maybe chapter one, but the first page...that's an achievement. I hadn't heard anything about this book until I was contacted to join the cover reveal. And boy, did I LOVE the cover. The synopsis defini

My Rating: 2.5

I was intrigued by Scarlet Woods as soon as I read the synopsis. I've been fascinated with the Civil War era since I was a teenager and devoured Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind and John Jake's North and South trilogy multiple times. I often pictured myself going back in time to experience it first hand, and thanks to a doorway set in the woods, Morgan Westbrook is able to do just that.

Morgan is a typical modern day teenager grieving the loss of her parents, when she stumbles

Scarlet Woods was a nice surprise. Although I read YA quite frequently, this is the first time I read one with a historical element. The story develops between contemporary times and the past. Both eras are linked by a door in the woods. Danny and Morgan found each other at the woods, linking their destinies to one another from that day forward. They kept crossing that door back and forth, while getting to know their interests, families and anything in between. They fall in love and things get c ...more

This was a book with a fantastic concept, well defined and developed characters, and an interesting twist with the addition of time travel. Unfortunately, there were also far too many errors in the construct of the story for me to be over the moon about it.

I will start with saying that the author has an interesting twist on time travel, as neither character at first realizes they are not “in their time”. Using the horse as the common element that initially brings Morgan and Danny into contact i

This book has a great concept/plot behind it. It reminded me a lot of The Lake House starring Sandra Bullock. It consists of a boy, Danny and a girl, Morgan who are from two entirely different time periods but find each other in the depth of Scarlet Woods. I loved the fact that Danny’s horse, Nashville, is what joined them together. I am such an animal lover, so this drew me in right from the start. I did feel like things were a little rushed and somewhat coincidental at times. Danny just happen ...more

For more of my reviews:

I really enjoy reading books about time traveling. Mostly it gives us the best of two worlds and that's totally the case with Scarlet Woods. The premise is a bit different than the usual time traveling novel. I really liked the twist in the beginning when Morgan doesn't realize that she went back in time and makes a fool of herself. The wonder that both characters show while going further and back in time is really enjoyable to read and of

I admit that I did not know what to expect from Brooke Passmore's book but I encountered several grammatical errors in the first few chapters; changes of tense within a sentence and I found Danny and Morgan could not decide which dialect they were speaking! I struggled through the first third of the book for these reasons and a lack of connection to the characters and story. However, there was an important point at which I felt Brooke Passmore's writing transcended beyond the YA genre - and she ...more

Scarlet Woods
By Brooke Passmore

“No matter the distance, once a person is in love there isn’t anything that can stop them from falling.” ~Laura Hidalgo

Scarlet Woods was by far one of my favorite books of 2012. I was intrigued and mesmerized by the descriptions of Scarlet, GA past and present. I was beyond entranced with the writers ability to transcend the descriptions of 19th century and 21st century Scarlet, that I actually wanted to visit Scarlet to experience it first hand.

Scarlet Woods is the first book in a new series by Brooke Passmore. It's about a seventeen year old girl named Morgan who finds a door in the woods behind her house. It's just a strange, random door that doesn't seem to be attached to anything. She walks through the door, not knowing that she travels back through time to the year 1863. She ends up running into a guy named Danny in the woods. Morgan needs Danny's help so she follows Danny through the woods and finds that her hometown of Scarlet l ...more

I am honestly obsessed with this book right now. This book shows others that ideas don't have to be cliched in order to be good. I was so in love with this book that I began to sneak my phone in my many different classes in order to finish it all. The characters and story plot is original and I love how nothing is exaggerated. I really like how the problems that both of the protagonists encounter may be an everyday thing in the 1800's. The best part is how the main characters have ABSOLUTELY NO ...more

This book is so amazing it has a love story that many girls dream about. I love how the author combines two different worlds such as present day and Civil War Era. This book has so much detail description!!! It has been one of the best love stories I have ever read; since, its different from any love stories I have ever read! I believe I could read this book over and over, because it just so exciting. I also could not put the book down. I actually got in trouble in my Geology class for reading o ...more

I really likes the premise behind this story. I like the time travel aspect and the era that was traveled to. I think this book needed some editing though. There were several instances of the wrong word being used within a sentence. There were also a few factual inaccuracies.
