Christmas, and the man of his fantasies is back in Chris's life.

It's been far too long since Christian Matthews has seen Daniel Bailey. In fact the last time they met Chris was a senior in college and he was the TA tasked with helping Daniel who was a way too confident freshman.

Some years down the road, Chris is licking his wounds after being asked to leave the private s

My 'mistake' was that I immediately read the online free version (I had it with me before it was taken down due to the publication) before I read this one. I though this one would be a sequel; I didn't pay attention to the blurb that said that it was actually a "revised and re-expanded" version of New York Blue.

So when I started this, it threw me off a bit. I thought, "Hey, this was the same story!". Then I checked the blurb and realized that it WAS the same story. Not a good start for

This was a really sweet story. It was short but I did not mind because everything was covered. Although I would love to see this couple again. I think they deserve to be brought to life again. R.J. Scott is a personal favourite author of mine, I love her work and have read quite a few things from her.

New York Christmas, is about Chris and Daniel. They met in college and kissed once. But Chris was older and graduated. Daniel had been a slut and did not believe he deserved Chris. So they had not s
This was a good story to start off my holiday reads. I really enjoyed this one, it just gives off the good feeling vibes. I also loved the cover.
I found this Christmas story delightful! Highly recommended for all M/M romantics looking for something short and sweet.

This was ok. The two MC's definitely had chemistry going on but it was a little too sugary for my taste. Daniel seemed way to perfect. He said all the right things, which was completely unrealistic. He was radiating romance in every direction.

Let's not forget the insta-love factor.

I enjoyed Ame and there were several times that I did smile so I do not regret reading it. This just was not my cuppa.

I loved this story when I read it as it was posted online, so I was more than happy to find out that it had been "extensively re-written and only the ideas in it remain" and would be published in time for Christmas!

Except that... it doesn't really seem like there was much of a rewrite, just that a few new scenes from Daniel's POV were added to what was there before, maybe some other scenes cleaned up a bit. That's it.

Despite how much I loved it, the free online version still seemed incomplete an

Well, there was something really charming about this book…

And his name is DANIEL. Sigh.

Look Christian, I know life has given you a sack o’ lemons. But you’ve got your old college crush all over you telling you everything you’d ever want to hear from a man. And he is a MAN…tall, NYPD, man of integrity, rich, kind, steadfast…and he WANTS you. So, get your head out of your woe-is-me bucket and grab on with both hands and don’t let go!

The story was surprisingly…angsty…for a short holiday re

A sweet story and light reading for Yuletide. All about a love lost and found again, chances missed and new opportunities, with a feel good HEA, all in all very well written and entertaining. I also really liked the cover of the book!

This is a great Christmas story, from the slow build of a romantic relationship that is long overdue, through some very angsty territory, all the way to lives being threatened, and a perfectly adorable ending. And even though Christmas isn’t really at the heart of the story, Chris and Daniel's love is the focus, it is a perfect example of the Christmas spirit. Of course, the setting of New York in December and January may have something to do with it. Two of my favorite scenes ere the lighting o ...more

A sweet New York Christmas story about Daniel and Chris. They met years ago at college. Chris being the tutor of Daniel.

Daniel has got his life back together, is a New York police officer but has not been able to forget Chris.

Maybe this time he will be worthy of Chris...

A nice story about two men who secretly wanted each other as college students who find each other again several years later.

I think I have loved every book I have read by this author. New York Christmas is no exception. It is a sweet story about second chances. Daniel and Chris are from entirely different worlds but they are perfect for each other. It takes a lot for both to overcome insecurities (and other issues) to finally get it right. When they do, it's perfect.

Another great story
Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!)
It's so fluffy with a smidge of sexual tension I'm gonna die!

I do love friends to lovers or in this case former T.A & Student to lovers...this kind of prior relationship makes the story all the more gratifying (for me anyway).

These guys have a few things that they either need to over come or that comes between them that they need to maneuver around while trying to figure out how to make their relationship work. The do a fabulous job of it and I'm glad I was able to follow along with them.

Chris is currently working in a coffee/pastry shop, Daniel is a cop in New York.
When they last saw each other, Chris was a TA tutoring Daniel when he was in college. Daniel comes from a well to do background. While there was a bit of an attraction at the time, Daniel was "sowing his wild oats", while Chris wanted a relationship, and also believed he was too much of a geek for someone like Daniel.

Chris is surprised to see Daniel in the shop, and as usual, gets tongue tied with a good looking man.

Christian Matthews met Daniel Bailey when he was a senior in college and Daniel was a freshman. They both had a thing for each other but aside from a drunken, eggnog infused kiss (that was epic), nothing ever happened between them. Fast forward 10 years and Chris is picking up the pieces of his life. He lost his job as a teacher at a private school over a scandal for which Chris was blameless. Now he is back in NYC working and living over his best friend's coffee and muffin shop when no
I have been eagerly waiting for this book. I LOVE RJ Scott and this one did not. Chris and Daniel have each had a crush on the other since college. Neither of them felt worthy of the other for very different reasons and as such they left college and each other behind without doing more than kissing. Fast Forward 11 or so years. Chris is reeling from loosing his beloved teaching job after a relationship with the wrong man causes a manufactured scandal. Daniel, now out a proud member of NYPD, is f ...more

I would have given this one three stars if Chris hadn't been quite such a spineless wimp. He was willing to let lies and innuendo completely destroy his career. Not exactly the kind of rousing spirit one hopes to find in a hero.

While I'm waiting for the December Christmas stories, I'm reading past years holiday treats. I haven't read "New York Christmas" before, and I really like RJ Scott's writing. In sum: I loved it. Chris is endearing with his shy awkwardness and insecurities. Daniel is a hot, confident bi cop. It's a sweet, sentimental romance with a little heat and a significant HEA. Recommended.

This wasn’t a bad story, just not one of Scott’s best.
I felt that there was an outline given, and all that was written was filler between bullet points.
This was just one story out of many, just there, I would rather spend my time reading something better.
It disappointed me, I expected more form Scott.
Lovely story with a HEA YEAH,

This was the perfect story to put me in the Christmas spirit as it evoked memories of watching the tree in Rockefeller Center being lit and the fun of being in the City at Christmastime. Chris Matthews are an very good teacher who's down on his luck because of a scandal at the school he taught at. He has no where to turn but to his good friend Amelia for a room to live in and a job in her coffee shop. Chris doesn't mind hustling muffi

Chris is having a bad time, sacked from his job at a private school and accused of inappropriate behaviour, he is serving coffee and muffins to make ends met. He's facing a miserable Christmas and into the coffee shop walks Daniel, his unforgettable (and unobtainable) college crush. Daniel is a New York cop and its turns out he's never forgotten Chris either. Daniel, it turns out, has been searching for Chris, he hadn't been able to forget him after one drunken night of kisses in college but the ...more

This is a very sweet story about two men who reconnect after college and fall in love. Ten years ago, Christian Matthews tutored Daniel Bailey in English literature when he was a TA senior and Daniel was a freshman with little motivation. Chris and Daniel are complete opposites. Chris is nerdy, quiet, and introverted, while Daniel is loud, extroverted and extremely rich. When they cross paths years later, Daniel is more determined than ever to explore the feelings he always had for his

Bad case of re-warmed up insta-love. Holiday-themed New York love story with some classics like Rockefeller center and ice skating in central park, but both MCs remained shallow and their whole story unplausible. Daniel, the rich and beautiful guy, who became a cop - way too good to be true. And Chris the insecure, poor and pretty teacher. After meeting in college, Daniel was secretly in love with Chris, but decided to wait to act on it, because "he was a slut" in college
Chris and Daniel met in college - Chris was Daniel's TA. After college, Chris ends up teaching at a posh school and then loses his job after he is outed. Daniel on the other hand, tries to work for his dad, but then decides he wants to be a cop. Daniel is a trust fund baby. The two reconnect, after Daniel tracks Chris down…to a coffee shop where he now works.

I think the whole story hinged on the reader feeling sorry for Chris. Unfortunately, Chris was shallow and full of self-pity, and I honestl

A wonderful feel good Christmas story. Chris feels he's lost everything and doesn't really have anything left to offer the world. Then suddenly there is Daniel a crush from years ago. So much drama ensues because what would a dramatic Christmas story be without that. In the end you know love will win but it also doesn't just gloss over the struggles one has when overcoming emotional abuse. You can't turn self-esteem back on with a flip of a switch but the true love of another one will bring heal ...more

Actually 4 1/2 stars!

Go ahead and judge this book by its cover because NEW YORK CHRISTMAS is a great holiday story and that’s a beautiful cover. However, as usual, RJ Scott puts enough angst into the plot that it isn’t all feel-good Merry Christmas. Someone is accused of something he didn’t do. Someone else saves the day. Someone is shot and might die. Two someones have a hard time overcoming past history and making a new start. Together.

4.5 stars - Squeeee! This was an adorable Christmas story! It's a total comfort read and will leave you grinning like a fool and really feeling the Christmas spirit. I felt that the romance between Chris and Daniel was really well paced and beautifully developed. It was just so sweet and lovely, but without being too over-the-top or sickly sweet. RJ never disappoints - her stories always bring you the most perfect romance with the most perfect ending.

Finally, I just have to make a quick comment
I really liked it when I first read the blog stories and I still really like it after the re-write and expansion. For those who have read the blog(free)version. There's not much of a difference in the story itself but there's an extra chapter featuring Chris and Daniel after they move in with each other (I think the last time I read New York Blue, it had already gotten to the part where Chris was being interviewed for a new job...). There's also a additional date scene that wasn't in the blog st ...more
So as usual R.J. Scott produces another amazing book, by far one of my most favorite authors!! The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I wanted it to be longer. Christian is an amazingly shy and loving teacher who gets screwed over in the worst way. But out of that came Daniel back into his life after so many years. Daniel is a strong and strapping rich cop who wants nothing more than to fall back in love with Christian and take care of him for the rest of his life. Beautiful Christ ...more
