Debut novel Arctic Floor by Aussie author Mark Aitken is excellent. Full of action, very fast paced, and keeping you on the edge of your seat till the very last page!

Gerry Gallen was a US Marine in the special forces, having recently returned home from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. great thriller! i think it's much better than Matthew Reilly's books as it is more realistic, detailed, topical and complex. like clive custler stories, reilly's books are more a comic book style (still fun). Arctic Floor has many fewer plotholes (where the characters act out of character to artificially create more suspense) than most thrillers. i sure hope Mark Aitken writes many more like this as i would like to become a regular reader.

Mark is no Matthew Reilly. Arctic Floor was slow to start with a protagonist who seems (view spoiler). The team of four who are the core of the plot weren't developed enough to be memorable and I still wanted to finish reading the story, but overall I was underwhelmed.
Good in bits, boring in bits.
