This selection of the very best, and most intriguing, writing on cricket, drawn from the mid-18th century to the present day, adopts a fresh approach. It is arranged around the theme of the many things that must happen simply for a day's play to happen.

Adam Twyman
A splendid compilation of always interesting, sometimes touching and often funny extracts from the finest cricket writing of the last 120 years or so. A snapshot of England through the ages and the endearing, lifelong love that so many have of this barmy game. An excellent light read for the cricket lover, perfect for the sun bed.
