I had to secretly read this book, frightened that I might get caught....I had accidentally pulled this from a Florida library shelf, thinking it looked interesting, only to discover hours later in my room (I was only a young teenager) that is was the actual diaries of Gloria Vanderbilt...THE Vanderbilts!....and, the candid descriptions of this woman's life is very open!

I was sheltered...I had no idea who the Vanderbilts were...much less that people like her actually threw out their dirty laundr
