*Disclosure: I actually have only read the first, third, and fifth book of the series, the fifth being Nine Lives. I realize I skipped some parts of the story as well as finding some spoilers I was supposed to cover before. Even though I understood the context of the story, I still recommend a reader to read all four books before reading Nine Lives. This review will cover my thoughts and opinions...more

Nine Lives: The fifth Highland Home Novel by Shari Richardson; Astral Plane Publishing.

Three Out of Five (Worth Reading)

Richardson creates a world in the East Hamptons filled with vampires, weres of all kinds (panthers, wolves, bears, etc.), angels, and humans. The main character, Kerry Cote, is trapped in this supernatural chaos, her sister turned into a vampire, her mother’s partner is an angel, and h...more

I absolutely loved this book. I hadn't read any of he books in the series beforehand so Picking up the fifth book in a series and being confused was to be expected. Thankfully it wasn't to hard to catch up with what was going on, that being said I would not recommend it ad a stand alone boom, mainly because the character descriptions were not repeated in the fifth book so what I saw in my minds eye is probably not what the author had in mind, it also made it difficult to connect with the charact...more

**From the Book Lover's Report: http://thebookloversreport.blogspot.com **

I liked the beginning, wanted to hit someone in the middle, and wanted to kill everybody and shout out my hate for the world at the end.

In the beginning, Kerry is at her sister's wedding and when she feels the love between Mathias and Mairin, it reminds her of how she and Xavier feel about each other. After she catches Mairin's bouquet, she gives Xavier a sort of wink, wink, hint, hint, and he asks her to marry him ( for t...more

OMG! I was not expecting THAT kind of an ending - this book was so much fun to read.. up until the ending!

The beginning of this series was hard for me to read. I have never been a big fan of books that had too many supernatural creatures mixed into on book.
Between Vampires, Werepanthers, Demigods, Angels, and Demons. Throw in Cain and Gigi (aka Mother Earth) and I was ready to put it all down.
But after I read the first 2 books, I just couldn't stop there. Getting to know Mathias, and Xavier,...more

Wow I just devoured this book. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good and now I am regretting not having read books 1-4 but as soon as I finish writing this review I need to read Mourning Sun immediately. Though Nine Lives is the 5th in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. Didn’t have any issues reading it although I would have enjoyed it more if I read it from its original order. I do have the books, I just hadn’t had the time to read it in order. I am babbling again, sorry guys okay now...more

Of all the books in this series this one really held me until the very end. Gripping plot that did not edge on boredom. The story finally came to its own. Strong characters in Kerry and Mairin. Even with Xavier the man that had to fight to keep his sanity growing some back bone at the end. The one character that irate me the most was Loraine since book 1. I hope she disappear altogether. A sorry excuse for any mothers. But then it worked to build the story. Even Tawnya stepped up in her roll as...more

Wow, I only wished I had read the series from the beginning! Ms. Richardson pens "Nine Lives" with emotion, passion and heartache. A well written plot with strong believable characters that hooks you from the beginning. It was an ending I didn't expect at all and truly hope there is more to this series. Highly recommended for all paranormal readers.

This review is based on a complimentary copy which was provided for an honest review.

I received all 5 books in the series for winning a contest on a book blog.
I read all 5 books in one night as I couldn't put them down!
If you're a fan of vampires, shifters... heck, paranormal in itself, I
recommend this book (series).
The characters were well written. The story grabbed you from the start and kept you involved and entertained.
Yes, I would recommend reading them in order as it's hard to follow otherwise.
This is the fifth book in the Highland Home series. I really hope the author c...more
