Recommends it for: children starting to read chapter books
This is another fun mystery in the Calendar Mysteries series by Ron Roy. We tore through the A to Z Mysteries by the same author and now we are patiently waiting for each month in this series to get published.

This new series is for younger children, so it's starting to be a bit young for them. No matter. We've had fun with them and the characters and setting are familiar to us by now.

This story was fun (and quite predictable.) I like that these mysteries are simple, harmless, and understandabl

I couldn't keep from rolling my eyes. The kids were more immature than I could believe and the adults acted dumb.

it was about when 2nd grade started, they had to return Goldi to someone and it was hunter who stole it!
hunter saw his mother that she had sneakers so he got people in green lawn interested by that kind of sneakers called sweet feet.

The puzzle in this early chapter mystery is a good one but the resolution to the crime itself, a stolen hamster (among many other items), may give a mixed message to impressionable readers. The entries in this series can be quite entertaining, even educational, but this really isn't one of them. Our full review:

I don't think that Hunter should have lied to his mom about the spiders in the garage just to keep her out.He should have told her the truth and make more advertisements then just to steal stuff from other people to make them notice their shoe key chains.Even though it was such a bad thing to do, that was such a good mystery that I still had to give it a 5 star rating!

This chapter book was a great demonstration of detective work in the school age setting. The children find the person who was taking the neighborhood's things and leaving behind a green sneaker with a yellow lightning bolt. This book allows children to read a mystery and encourages adventure and detective work. A great book to introduce to a classroom with an adventuring theme.
