An interesting selection by Almodovar, but Siri Hustvedt's accompanying text is... as baffling as she seems to find the photographs. Too bad the Galeria didn't find someone with a better grasp of the works to write the captions, or ask Almodovar himself to write a few words.

For collectors, this is a one-time printing limited to 3,000 copies.

His influence has been felt by almost all who engage in art and in writing. This beautifully designed book is unique in that it represents a collection of Mapplethorpe's oeuvre as selected by the brilliant filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar for an exhibition in Madrid, Spain in

Robert Mapplethorpe was an American photographer, known for his large-scale, highly stylized black and white portraits, photos of flowers and naked men. The frank, homosexually erotic nature of some of the work of his middle period triggered a more general controversy about the public funding of artworks.
