I won this book from goodreads, first reads. This book sounded so interesting and different from anything I have read. As I read the book I loved the story, I didn't want to put it down. Every character was interesting as well as the setting and how they all got to be in the situation they were in. When they get to the mall the story picks up even more, how they deal with each other and set up to live there, and of course the zombies. I don't want to spoil any part of the story, My problem was ...more

A fast easy read. I was surprised at how much I liked this novel.

A billionaire selects 12 random people to live in an unopened shopping mall, fully stocked, for 6 months, and pays them richly for doing so. Friendships are formed, alliances are made and robot zombies are hunted and killed. The zombies are outside the mall and the players can not leave the mall. At least that's how the game begins.

It's interesting to see how "outsiders" are dealt with and what people will do under pressure.

This is a fantastic book. It is great whether you are a zombie freak like me or into psychological thrillers, action, apocalyptic or just love a great story. You have the characters, some you love, some you hate and some you want dead, lol. There is action, intrigue, and also a little bit of huh???? Just loved this. I can't wait for the sequel.

A zombie apocalypse without a real zombie threat. How does that work? Quite well, I think, in this book.
We all know most apocalyptic stories are about the relationship of the characters and what happens to them, not the disaster. This story is no different even though there is no apocalypse driving the characters to hold up inside a mall - just a billionaire with an idea and offer of money. But that doesn't detract from the story at all.

This novel is the first I have read by G.B. Hope, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well written, with a lot of thought to characterisation and how the different characters would not only evoke emotions in each other, but in the reader. They were excellently portrayed, and their reactions were very true to their situations. The way the group evolved and fractured was of great interest to

I received this book through Goodreads First Reads. I liked the way this book was written. I felt I could connect with the characters and their personalities and the way they dealt with the situation they found themselves in was totally believable. I wanted more of an explanation at the end. It might be one of those books that I need to dwell on for a few days to understand more fully. Overall it was entertaining and had me in suspense much of the time.

If there are any billionaire's out there planning to make this novel happen for real, count me in! I'll be a bad person or a good person, I don't care. I love the idea of this novel and found myself rooting for Lee and Claudia's group. Well written, perhaps a bit short if truth be told, but altogether an engrossing and different story about the experiences of a mixed group of individuals pretending to survive a zombie apocalypse.

I received this book as the result of a First reads giveaway.

Fist off, my sincerest apologies for not getting through this book earlier. My kids are going through a zombie phase and because of this, we opted to make this a book we read aloud and share, something we try to do several times a year. This is a rare honor for the books we choose and one that is not given lightly. We had a hard time finding times that all of us were home to read it together, hence, why it took so long.

    With that said,

The character developement was done splendidly, but I didn't find myself connecting to any of them, or even really liking them lol, except maybe Madesio*. I had a hard time getting into this book, and found myself waiting for something exciting to happen. Finally, a few chapters before the end got my attention and held on. I really liked seeing how Hester's true character started to shine through the facade. Because of the last few chapters I find myself

i won this book from goodreads a while ago and started reading it then, but put it down to come back to, due to its slow start. Although it has a slow start, it does pick up, and by the end of this book, i really liked it and want to know what happens next with the group that was stuck in a mall for 6 months.
The main premise of the book is that 12 people are promised a but load of money to take part in an experiment: live inside a giant mall for half a year with "zombie" robots outsid
How can I be the first to give this a bad rating? Guess someone always has to be the first and ruin things for everyone...
Anyway, let's try and keep this short: the characters in this book were horrible, underdeveloped and not lifelike at all with artificial sounding dialogues and vague motivations. Considering that 85% of the book have no real plot and seem to be reserved for character development and observations of group dynamics "Fighting out of Mobberley, England" gives an awful result. The

Let me just get this out of the way. I know nothing of England. I do not know the cities. I do not know the laws. I do not know the "spoken" language in England compared to America. I would recommend getting an eBook version so you can easily look up definitions of words. I do not know the "written" language in England because, to me, there was a lot of "S"s where there should have been "Z"s. A map of the layout of the mall stores would have been nice. The only store I have ever heard of McDonal ...more
