Strong poems with striking imagery about a relationship that starts, develops and ends, accompanied by a torrent of emotion, by the 2014 winner of the Ingrid Jonker prize. The Afrikaans poems in a predominantly English volume of verse give it a unique flavour.

The poetry is achingly, just achingly beautiful. I'm going to word this badly but: I am oddly grateful for past heartbreaks (and loves) because they make me appreciate some of your poems all the more, to read them and think, "Yes, THAT was what it was like."
"Tipping Point." I feel sorry for anyone who has not had at least one night like that in their lives.

And "the fruit is as wet as grief" is as perfect a line as any I have ever read. And I got a little teary as I read it because I knew Exactl
