هذا كتاب في شيءٍ - بإعتراف المؤلف ذاته - لم يستطع أحد أن يعرّفه، فإنت إما أن تمتلك موهبة الأداء أو لا، أن تكون موهوبًا أو لا، أو كما يقتبس المؤلف:

إن هذه الظاهرة (يقصد فن الأداء) تتحدى أي محاولة لإعطائها تعريفًا سهلا أو دقيقًا عدى (كذا! .. كما يكتبها المحققون للكتب!!) الإقرار ببساطة أنها فن حي يقوم به فنانون

إذن ما الذي تتناوله هذه الـ350 صفحة التي قرأتها بهذه المناسبة كي أعاقب نفسي على سوء الاختيار!

ربما يريد الكتاب التحدث عن أن فن الأداء لا يشترط أن يؤدي فوق خشبة المسرح وإنما إن كنت تريد من الآ

Must read introduction to performance art from every perspective with a focus of theater.

I'm not really very interested in performance art as such, which this book spends a good deal of time discussing--I am interested in identity performance, but I don't think I got much more on that subject from this book than I already had from Judith Butler and Homi Bhabha. I accept that the task is nearly impossible, but I'm not sure how well this critical introduction actually covered performance as such. I think it did a better job providing an intro than I got out of it.
