Margot Davenport’s life has been turned upside down. She divorced her husband two years ago and lost her corporate attorney job soon after, but none of that compares to the heartbreak she’s dealing with now – the death of her brother, Johnny, who she adored.

Jake Preston doesn’t have long to live, thanks to an experiment gone wrong. He needs to get his hands on the antidote, but the last known person to have it is his friend and co-worker, Johnny Davenport. Unaware of Johnny’s death, Jake shows

1st line in the book---> Margot Davenport should never have opened the front door.

From the moment you begin to read this story, you are intrigued with the plot. Like a puzzle you are slowly putting the pieces of a big mystery. Author H.D. Thomson does a great job of keeping the reader guessing.

Margot Davenport has known tragedy. Having divorced her husband two years ago, losing her corporate career job and now suffering through the loss of her beloved

This had an intriguing storyline, involving genetic research and a missing formula. There is a very eloquent spiral of grief suffered by Margot, as she is having to deal with her whole life disintegrating around her, after her divorce, loss of her job and now the loss of her brother.
The storyline revolves around genetic research and a dramatic result which occurs after a formula is destroyed. It was a nice touch that, when he was searching the library, Jake touched on mythology about vampires, b
Good book, cross between medical thriller and romance. Would give 5 stars but both main characters got knocked unconscious too many times and popped back up...

Wow, this was full of anticipation, sorrow, greed, loyalty, love and trust. All of the characters brought all of these emotions to the table to be seen as such. Margot's drinking, grief and unexpected reality were felt by all the characters. Jake's situation is the reason Margot had to make some real changes in her life. Changes that brought out the strength for both of them to survive the reality they had both been victims of. Both trying so hard not to hurt the other, but also themselves. I gi ...more

Margot has had it rough in the last several years. Her marriage ends, she loses her job, and the icing on the cake, her brother dies. She turns to alcohol and lets just say this woman is a complete and total wreck of emotions. I enjoyed how H.D. Thomson portrayed her grief. Some people actually fall completely and totally apart when facing such dire circumstances and drown themselves in alcohol. And you know what, maybe she shouldn't have opened that door,

Margot's life is spiraling downhill quickly. She has just buried her brother. She is living alone in northern Arizona and enjoying a lot of wine. She has divorced her husband and lost her job as an attorney. She has had a lot of wine when a knock comes at the door. It is a friend of her brothers named Jake so she lets him in and agrees to rent him a room for a couple of weeks.

Jake worked at the same company as her ex husband and her brother. They had been conducting secret experiments at the la
What would you do if an experiment went extremely wrong and if you didnt figure out the formula you would die? That is the question this book answers in wonderful amazing detail.. I love that the main characters are likable and that you root for them. The author's protrayal of grief with Margot is genuine and very realistic in the way it would be handled.
Jake was a true hero and I found myself wanting the same answers that the end gives the readers.

This book was well written and awesome, I like
Interesting story - keeps you wondering. Many tense scenes and even a few romantic (hot) ones. Some of it was a bit far-fetched for my taste but then again, I liked the characters and I will likely read the next one in the series.

Really good thriller with a hint of romance. Never read any by HD Thomson before, and I look forward to reading the next book in the Shrouded series.
Tense, dark and thrilling. Shrouded in Darkness is a fast-paced read.
