Fast-paced and original, Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry, M.D., grabbed me right away and wouldn’t let go. It was one of those books that I wanted to keep reading. See what happens next. See how things were going to play out.

Matt is a great main character. He’s down-to-earth and generally a decent person. The reader shares his disbelief that someone would want to kidnap him – and kill him. While reading, my mind went through all sorts of scenarios that could explain it, but I just couldn’t figur
4.4 -- I read this book in less than a day. The suspense started on the second page, so the story grabbed my interest from the start. There wasn't much suspense, but I didn't want to put the book down because it was interesting. I also really liked the main character and his lawyer. This was the first book I've read by Mr. Mabry, but I'll be reading more.

When I knew this book was by Dr Mabry, I knew I was going to like it, and he didn't disappoint. Stress Test might be what the main character is experiencing, but you are going to feel the stress while you page turn to get to the answers.
What poor Dr Matt Newman experiences in this book, should not happen to anyone. Just when you think things are about to be cleared up and start to get better...boom...they don't! If he were a cat, he would be down to life Number 8.

Richard Mabry has done it again!! I have yet to read a book by Dr. Mabry that I have not enjoyed!!

Dr. Matt Newman is working his way through the world while falling in love with a legal assistant named Jennifer. He wants to marry her and start a life with her but she is wishing he didn't have such long, unpredictable hours. Dr. Newman decides to close up his practice and go into a more laid back physicians role to honor her.

From the first paragraph of Stress Test you are placed in the life of Dr. Matt Newman, a surgeon just coming off a long shift. You feel the tiredness, you pull out your car keys in the parking garage, and then attackers grab you from behind and you feel the cracking pain of breaking ribs as they throw you to the concrete floor.
"Lets get him in the trunk," says the voice. And they bind Dr. Newman with duct tape and lock him in his own car's trunk.

This book does not let up, and you won't put it

I have all Dr Mabry's books and never hesitate to buy his latest. I'm never disappointed. He writes medical thrillers in the same vein as Robin Cook and Michael Palmer, but without any language and with the wonderful and welcome addition of Christian values.

Dr. Matt Newman walks out of the hospital after a busy shift one night and is kidnapped, thrown into the trunk of his car and driven off to be murdered. He manages to escape but wakes up in a hospital with a head injury after emergency surger

Stress Test captured my attention from the start and wouldn’t let go. It’s the first title I’ve read by Richard Mabry and I’m looking forward to reading more by this talented author in the future. Highly recommended for fans of medical romance and medical suspense who haven’t already had the pleasure of reading it. And yes, I’m a little late to the review party, as this title was released a year ago, and there’s already a more recent title available from this author (Heart Failure), with yet ano ...more

Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. was a suspenseful and intriguing novel that left me tied to the pages throughout the entire story. The plot was very interesting and included many plot twists, dangerous situations, and medical emergencies. I enjoyed getting an inside look into the interworking of a emergency room from the perspective of a doctor -Matt Newman. Because he had a medical student shadowing him, many of the questions I had about working in a emergency answered in the interactions

I loved this medical suspense, with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing!

On his way out of the hospital one night, Dr. Matt Newman is attacked and kidnapped. He manages to escape but collapses.

The next thing he knows he's in the ICU ~ and in the middle of a nightmare.

He's under suspicion for murder.

The police do not believe the kidnapping story.

His girlfriend doesn't want anything to do with him as he's now a suspect.

And on returning home, he soon finds his attackers still want to kill

If you have ever read Richard L. Mabry’s books, you know you won’t rest until you read the last word. “Stress Test” is no different. I’ve read other of Richard Mabry’s books and I’m always left with knowing that I’ve read a great book, one that was fast paced, centered on Christ and just enough suspense to keep me turning page after page (or flipping pages if you read on a Kindle Fire!). Stress Test by Dr. Richard Mabry is a fantastic interesting read. I love this book and can’t wait to read other books by Dr. Mabry. From the very first page I was hooked and read the book through in two days.
I was really surprised at who ordered the murders and tried to frame Dr. Matt Newman. It is a well put together story. Loved all of the medical talk and different cases. Liked how a few people stood by Matt when he was going through his toughest time.
