Blacky *Mistress of doom*
I LOVED the Darkness Chosen series. I LOVED the first 4 books of The Chosen Ones series. But this one was just a little weird for me, the ending a bit too sugary for my taste.

Well the first thing - The cover is MAJOR false advertising! Aleksandr is covered in hair for like 85-90 percent of the book! And when I say covered in hair, I mean - half animal :O

After waiting months for the ending of this series, I guess I anticipated the story to go in some other direction... Actually, the story itself...more

When waiting for a long anticipated book, knowing that it will bring the story to an end a reader often has mixed feelings. One, will it live up to the hype and two does it really have to end? Oh and will I like the ending.. guess that is three questions.. In Christina Dodd's Wilder the final book of her Chosen Ones Series the answer is yes.. yes ... yes.. What a fantastic ending to a wonderful series. The Chosen ones is a series that tells the story of good vs evil in a very obvious manner. It...more

I have been waiting for this book for awhile now and it certainly didn't disappoint. Christina Dodd has crafted a series of paranormal, action-packed romance that began with the Darkness Chosen series and finished up in the Chosen Ones. The link between the two series is the grandson, Alexsandr Wilder, born from the great family of Konstantine Wilder-a family of shape shifters that had at one time worked for the very devil himself, but when the pact was broken, the family lost their ability to s...more

3.5 stars - WILDER was a bit of a mixed read for me but my 'likes' boil down to the fact that I liked Charisma and I liked her with the Guardian - once they got past an initial hurdle - and I liked seeing bits of the previous Chosen pairs.

My nits (I know it looks like a lot but they are 'nits' and not 'hates') ...
...having an extended prolog with Konstantine Wilder giving his annual Fourth of July speech was not the best way to reel me into >This< story. Dodd obviously wanted to do a big r...more

A great read.. a wonderful ending to a captivating series that connects to the series that started my obsession with reading paranormal :)

The book was beyond expectations.. I gotta say, Ms. Dodd is still captivating her readers with such rich material, one really can't help but get addicted!

The last book was the story of our last beloved couple.. it was a heart-aching journey, a lot of sacrifices were made.. tests were put where some had failed and others had overcome them to reach new levels of...more

I have been waiting for this story for a VERY long time. We first met Aleksander when he was a baby in the Darkness Chosen series and we have been waiting to find out what happened to him after he went into the court house at the end of the last book. Now we know.

I wasn't as happy with this book as I was with the first few in the series. We (the reader) know who the Guardian is even though we are never actually told until the middle of the book and even though neither Aleksander or Charisma know...more

Beauty, one of The Chosen Ones whose mission it is to save the world from evil, gets attacked and dragged underground a city.
There she is save by a half man-half beast who protects the unfortunates who live underground like him.
Classic Beauty & Beast story ( with some heavy duty nods to the Linda Hamilton-Ron Perlman TV series).
Turns out the Beast may be an amnesiac Chosen One, who must get to the surface to help save the world.
Lost of threads from previous stories in this series that get ti...more

I have read the Darkness Chosen series and the other installments to the Chosen Ones series, and I was wildly anticipating Aleksandr's book. Unfortunately, I felt like it was a bit of a let down. For one thing, throughout the entire book, I KNEW that Guardian and Aleksandr were one and the same, and it felt like too much of the book was written as if the reader didn't already know that. I enjoyed that characters from the previous books (including Darkness Chosen books) make appearances, but I fe...more

I love a good Beauty and the Beast story and WILDER by Christina Dodd is superb. From the opening paragraph to the stunning conclusion, this story held me in its grip and refused to let go. I read the entire book (448 pages) in one day, foregoing dinner, dog walks, laundry and every other chore on my "to do" list.

The characters are captivating; taking the reader along on a non-stop roller coaster ride of action and emotions as they valiantly stage a final battle against evil for control of the...more

Wilder, the last installment of Christina Dodd’s Chosen Ones series, was definitely worth the wait. Dodd is a magnificent and brilliant storyteller, and the paranormal world she has created in this series is as unique as her characters are.

In her years with the Chosen Ones, heroine Charisma Fangorn has become a strong and brave leader. Along with all of Charisma’s strengths, Dodd creates believable vulnerabilities that make Charisma an endearing...more

I confess that I got sucked into the series and skipped and read this and Chains of Fire. The featured characters stories were engrossing and this novel in particular. The overall plot line at times seems choppy (between books and within the book) and developed superficially though it has potential. Whenever it is woven with the featured characters, it develops well but when they shift from the non-featured characters, it doesn't develop as smoothly and at times seems extraneous. I wanted to car...more

Wilder was a pretty good read for me. Except, I was really Angry at Christina Dodd for taking so long to bring out this installment. I liked the Beauty and Beast Theme. With The Guardian and Charisma. It started out pretty slow but I wanted to read more of this Book. Then I find out after the read that there was a prequel. UGGG that ruined everything. I think that I knew Martha was not really a good person and so I was happy to see that she went bye bye. I love the test that earth Gave Charisma....more

A continuation of the series about the Wilder family cursed to shape shift. Aleksandr was captured and tortured. During the torture, he was experimented on and that left him deformed and very hairy. He lives in the tunnels beneath the city of NY with a group of other misfits that he guards and protects. Charisma is a warrior that is a Chosen One that battles evil in a cycle of seven years. Charisma is being attacked and chased into the tunnels when Aleksandr saves her. She has to stay undergroun...more

This book is basically the tale of Beauty and the Beast. Having said that, Dodd brings new twists to the traditional story. I particularly enjoyed that her main characters, Alexander and Charisma, were well-drawn. Unlike many paranormal romance books, the characters have motivation for their thoughts and actions.

I also enjoy Dodd's writing style.

I do agree with another reviewer, in that I felt the end of the book wrapped up a little too neatly. However, I do want to go back and read Dodd's othe...more

I really liked this series and I was a little dissappointed by this book. besides it reminding me a lot of the '80s Tv show of beauty and the beast it seemed like she was rushing to finish the series. in all the other books I never caught any kind of romantic connection between the main characters besides friendship and in this book it just hit you with the it. I think it would have been a little more believable if there was some connection prior to this book. don't get me wrong it was a good st...more

Questions, questions, questions without answers. I assume this is the end of the spinoff series, but there were some things where the explanation was...shall we say...inadequate?

So Alexandre (probably mangled the odd spelling on that) took off on the promise of a hot chick and the fact that, as the only apparent normal in the group, he felt inadequate. Oh and maybe there was the hint of a regret that his family were no longer shifters...sortof.

3 years later, the last single (as in non-married) m...more

In the dedication, Christina Dodd thanks her daughters for making her watch Beauty and the Beast in it's many forms, and Wilder is definitely a Beauty and the Beast book. Aleksandr Wilder, part of the Wilder family from Dodd's Darkness Chosen series, has suffered extreme torture at the hands of the others is locked in a beast form and no longer remembers who he is or that he is one of the Chosen. When he saves Charisma from a demon attack, it puts them on the path of helping Aleksandr remember w...more

I feel like I waited for this book forever. The Darkness Chosen is one of my favorite series and so it made sense to continue on with the Chosen ones. The first couple books of The Chosen Ones were pretty decent, the middle two were blah. This one was great. Everything I was wanting for the book. Yeah a little sappy, yes it followed a Beauty and the Beast-esque theme. I'm good with it all. I traded in my other books in this series, but I would keep this one as a read alone, I think it will fit n...more

Really excited about the premise of this book. And of course, as the final installment in the Chosen Ones series, I was looking forward to seeing the plot resolved.

I liked the main characters (Aleksandr/Guardian and Charisma) but the plot was confusing. There was a LOT going on. Could have done without the Wilder family reunion; could have done without the Switzerland feather scene; could have done without the infodumps. Not sure why it took so long to get around to the plot with Charisma and Gu...more

First impression: An amnesiac werewolf and a temporarily blind goth hippie? Classic.

I never really got past my awareness of the ridiculous. The ending was particularly unbelievable, and unexplained. I still don't understand why these characters made everything so hard for themselves. And why did it take seven years to jump off a building with some feathers? And what will happen now? Peace for a thousand years?

Sorry, Dodd. Me=confused.

I wasn't actually all that impressed. The story took forever to get off the ground and I wanted to put it down several times, it was better towards the middle and then the end was a little too much for me.

Oh, and why put a sexy man on the cover when he's more Beast from Beauty and the Beast for 96% of the book?

If this is the last book, is it worth reading the rest of the series?
Sharon Kurtz
Final book of The Chosen Ones series is about an amnesiac shapeshifter Aleksandr Wilder (The Guardian) and Charisma Fangorn whose gift is to hear the earth 'sing'. This was a very satisfying ending to the series. The action never stopped and all threads of the story were wrapped up neatly. The sensuality rating is scorching. A true Beauty and the Beast romance.

3 1/2 stars. Characters were great as usual. Loved the look into original family of Chosen (still my fav). Drug a little at first after interesting start. Fast paced at end. Although I hate to series end, family deserves some peace & the reader to see a victory at last. Of course who know what the the future holds. ( why is their only female birth
s now?)

Readers become writers, and Christina Dodd has always been a reader. As she was growing up, she read everything, but discovered, because she likes humor, that she liked romance best. In romance, the relationship between one man and one woman holds center stage, and that’s always good for a laugh.

A woman wants things like world peace, a clean house, and a deep and meaningful relationship based on m...more
