Well I don't know what to say about this book other than I'm VERY disappointed in how the story went.

From reading the blurb, I kinda got the idea this would be a forbidden love kind of thing, they were in love but couldn't be together cause she was dating his cousin for three years now.

Don't know why the boyfriend angle is even there cause it makes absolutely no difference with the relationship between Beau and Ash, only making them absolutely sh*tty characters for doing it.

But OK, I have to admit, I loved the first 30%.
Just loved, it was swoony, Beau is absolutely amazing and I wanted to read everything from his POV <3

But then came Ash...
Let me tell you something about her.

She is dating Sawyer for three years, and doesn't want to have sex with him.

Newsflash woman, when that happens - YOU BREAK UP WITH THE GUY!!!!!

and NOT plan to have sex with a guy you re-friended five days ago.

I think that's what killed the book for me.
I could deal if it was you know, the heat of the moment, they had this attraction and they couldn't help themselves, ok fine...

But here's how it actually happened!

Ash made plans to have sex with Beau while her boyfriend is out of town with his family (he's a good guy btw).
And she made clear to Beau that she doesn't care about Sawyer and cheating him or just anything, she wants to have sex with Beau - BAD!
Beau of course can't help himself because he simply must be inside her ASAP.

So yeah, if it was done differently, I think it wouldn't bother me much, but Ash acting like a b*tch, planning to have sex with a guy she hasn't even talked to except for the last five days...

And I know a lot of people can read books where they don't like the main characters, but for me, both Beau and Ash went from love to hate in that scene, and I simply couldn't read a single page about them, I just couldn't!!! Gah!!!!

And for me, this looks like a book written for adults who like to read YA, I know I'd certainly never ever recommend this one to an actual teenager, with such sh*tty main characters, no way!

All this changes though when both boys began to notice Ash in a different way. Sawyer is first to make a move, and Ash, thinking Beau isn't interested in her in that way, accepts him. So they've been the "perfect" couple for the last three years. He's the star quarterback, son of a respectable businessman (Beau's uncle), and always beside her at church on Sunday. Ash struggles to be the perfect girlfriend, always worried that she doesn't measure up to Sawyer. She squashes out the urges she has to have fun, go wild, and have some heat with her boyfriend. If she shows some of these urges, Sawyer does his best to squelch those tendencies. Beau on the other hand is as wild as he ever has been. He's the son of the "wild" Vincent brother, who died years ago. Sure he's on the football team, same as Sawyer, but he doesn't care what people think, and doesn't put up pretenses. Beau and Ash hardly say two words to each other anymore. However, when Sawyer goes on vacation with his family for the summer, Ash and Beau start hanging out all the time. Let the sexual tension begin, and OH, MY GOODNESS, prepare yourself for shirtless Beau!!

I have to say that for a YA, this is very steamy! Beau is in the top five book-boyfriend category (yes, I know I'm pathetic)! I get weak in the knees just thinking about him. I just love everything that comes out of his mouth. I loved this scene:

Beau's gaze made my cheeks flush. A pleased grin touched his lips and I suddenly wanted to know how those lips would feel pressed against mine. I couldn't take my eyes off them……"You're gonna have to stop doing that Ash," Beau whispered huskily and closed the space between us. His body was suddenly pressed against mine……."Ash, I'm trying real hard to be good…….Please remember I've got my limits and you studying my mouth like you want a taste is pushing me dangerously close to the edge of those limits."

You wonder how this is all going to play out, because Ash is the girlfriend of Beau's cousin and best friend. Things were bound to get messy, and I worried that it would ruin the story for me. But I thought Abbi Glines did an excellent job handling this sticky situation. I have to say this is an excellent lesson for anyone dating. A guy/girl must love you for who you are, not who they want you to be.

I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a fun, passionate read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Wow! Abbi Glines knows how to write a bad boy.

I loved being in Beau's head and hearing what he was thinking. Beau totally stole the show in this book. Ashton said it best, "When did you get all sweet and charming?" Every girl wants a bad boy who will be good just for her!

I grew up in the Southern US, and clearly so did Abbi Glines. It's disappointingly rare for someone to nail the Southern temperament, even when they live there. Either it seems affected or stereotypical. Neither appeals to those of us who know better. There are old rules at play that can seem archaic if you don't understand how they work - and how they're worked around. The Vincent Boys proves it knows the landscape quicker than a duck on a Junebug.

I really enjoyed this one. It was quick, light, and entertaining. My first Abbi Glines read! It was the perfect choice after my heavy The Fault in Our Stars hangover.

But of course, Abbi knows how to finagle a story. The way she brings all things in, all people, all walks of life makes for a beautiful story. Though it may hurt me to read it all, it was beautiful nonetheless.

Anybody who knows me at this point knows I don't like love triangles. I just don't like to read them, for some reason it doesn't sit well with me. I'm not terribly fond of Ash... Anyone who has the mentality of "I'm gonna do what I want to do because I've got to follow my heart and I don't care who's hurt in the process" grates me.

BUT! :)

She's real. She's human, she's just like thirty girls I knew in high school. She's just spent so long trying to please everyone but herself, trying to figure out how to make everything work in harmony, trying to be who everyone wants her to be, and for the love of all please her parents, that in the end she had no other choice but to rebel and blow up. It's one of those lessons learned.

I'm so glad that I finished it and got to see how Abbi finished things up in a way that satisfied everyone as much as they could be. Sawyer was SOOO sweet in the end for someone who'd been betrayed that way. And Beau, gosh, you can't help but feel for him no matter the things he did before Ash. But I loved his protectiveness, even when she wasn't his. I love it when a guy is possessive in a sweet way. It was so real to me, it was like watching a movie.

So thank you, Abbi. We all make mistakes, some extremely costly and stupid, some that hurt everyone involved and some that only hurt ourselves, but in the end the point is to learn from them and don't judge a book or person by its cover (no pun intended b\c the cover is gorgeous) and above all, you can't live your life with regret and hate. You just can't.

5 solid, cry my eyes out, gripping my kindle with frustration, awesome stars from me.

I love this book! You stir those three up with love, gossip, and a fair amount of steamy attraction and tension—well you get one HOT story!

This story was filled with romance and sexual tension, but a lot was going on underneath as well. Strong themes of being true to yourself and looking beyond one’s reputation are developed and explored with all the characters. Ashton’s character especially showed readers how easy it is to get lost in someone else’s shadow or image. Hold on to who you are and be yourself are two strong and wonderful messages for readers of any age to embrace.

With just the right amount of southern hospitality and small town cattiness, this story creates a warm and cozy world that will pull you right in. Ms. Glines uses the open land, swimming holes, and southern heat all to her advantage. A shirtless Beau will make your belly flip flop! My stomach dropped a few times whenever Beau put his feelings about Ashton and Sawyer into words. He has this warm, but fierce way with words and emotions. I do feel like readers get a bit jipped concerning Beau’s view and feelings with a major development near the end of the book though. But we always want more—it’s a sign of a strong book and author. Always leave us wanting more!

The Vincent Boys will make you swoon, smile, and never look at a stick shift quite the same way again! Have fun with the boys, y’all. I know I did. :D

2.5 stars. My low rating is only for some strange behavior quirks but The Vincent Boys wasn't a bad way to pass a couple of hours, even if the book had a few moments that I could have lived without.

For the most part, this was a quick, simple, and somewhat entertaining love story - with a few glaring flaws.

Not a big Beau and Ashton fan.
Whether or not Sawyer knew the real Ashton or thought she was too perfect, cheating is not romantic. Oh poor Ashton your boyfriend thinks you are too perfect what a real bummer why don't you go cheat on him with his cousin?!?!?!?!?! Ashton and Beau haven't spoken in years, then all of a sudden as soon as her boyfriend is out of town they are all over each other?!?! Gross. I stopped reading before I got really upset.

Slut-shaming, glorification of cheating, and more things that make you want to vomit run amok in this train wreck of a novel. Oi, my aching head. The only reason I read it was because I won it and wanted to get it off my TBR. None of the reviews that are already up warned me of exactly how bad it would be.

The book tries so hard to make Ashton an angel who likes having a little naughty fun, but she's really just a nasty, spoiled child who hates other women she deems competition in some form or another. Her best friend is the only one immediately safe from judgment. The other two exceptions to the rule get her judgmental attitude until they prove they're not competition for anything. "Anything" includes one of the Vincent boys, her room, and pretty much whatever else you can come up with. She also trivializes rape when she uses that word to describe how Beau's girlfriend is constantly on him. UP YOURS, ASHTON.

Beau is about as far from romantic as you can get. He's always telling her how her being around him makes him suffer so much and to me, that reads as emotional manipulation. Let the target know what THEY'RE doing to YOU and simply wait for things to do your way. You control your emotions. No one else does. Blaming them on other people = huge red flag. Trashing his own girlfriend constantly? Ugh! Dating Ashton, who constantly trashes his mother and calls her a slut (albeit in her head)? Worse. He's got no respect for women.

The book also does a tricky thing in how it builds strawmen and mixes right ideas with bad ideas/characters. Ashton's father paints an exaggerated, largely untrue picture of Christianity that have even a nonreligious person like me saying it's an insult to Christianity. Nicole says Beau is hers and that means she gets to say who he sees (wrong), but just a page later, she objects to the idea she has to watch him paw at another girl and just take it (right). Not cool.

This line on its own should be a cause for worry: "You have no idea how hot he was beating Ryan's face in (p. 82)." Try and tell me this is anything other than romanticizing violence and I will laugh at you.

And as previously said, this book glorifies the stuffing out of adultery. Adultery is one of my biggest no-nos in all of everything and there better be some extenuating circumstances if it happens. Here? Nah. They just get hot for each other and stop controlling themselves. Here's a hint: if you can't control yourself, get away and stay away from them no matter how much it hurts. They both suffer for a while, but in the end, they get their happily ever after. They don't learn anything from it and they get a pass with the "it was meant to be!" bull. That's no excuse for cheating. Ever.

Nicole. Poor Nicole. She spends the entire novel being forced to be a one-dimensional mean girl love rival who gets slut-shamed, disrespected, and made the butt of the joke at every turn--even by her own boyfriend Beau. Instead of attempting to create a nuanced character, Glines takes the easy way out and uses a cardboard villain. Bad form, Glines. For that matter, poor Honey too. She gets slut-shamed just as often and gets stuck with a name meant to make readers cringe.

And how does it all end? One boy hands her off to the other and Beau makes threats that are considered romantic! Gag me. Please. Saying he'll hurt any guy who touches her and he doesn't know what he'll do if she dates someone else? Not romantic. At all. All of this together leaves me baffled as to why people like this series. I try to understand. I really do. It doesn't always happen.

Don't even get me started on the one-chapter invocation of the archaic, misogynist spirit girl tradition, where girls are expected to devote their time to the football player who picks them/they're assigned to. Among the things they're expected to do? Kiss them and possible service them sexually, as the text implies. Why was it needed if it's only mentioned in a single chapter? It's unfortunately real, but it's disgusting and best left out instead of propagated by awful books like this one.

The next book is about Sawyer and Lana (Ashton's cousin), but I don't give a hoot about them. Nicole, who she really is (because no way is Glines showing all of who she is; I know there's much more to her than that), and how she got that way are a lot more interesting. There's not a single good thing to say about this book and it should be avoided at all costs.(less)

Written from alternating POV’s of Beau & Ashton

I was so excited to start this YA series because I heard it had a more mature rating for YA and a big love triangle. It just didn’t do it for me, I think mainly because I didn’t feel any warmth for the characters. They seemed selfish and immature, I do realize it was YA and they were only 17 years old and I think they definitely acted their age, but I didn’t really like Beau or Ashton, the H&h. The sexual tension was off the charts, there were huge build ups, raging hormones, and virginity lost, even some slightly graphic dialog, but then there was just nothing…over…end…deed done…new chapter. For YA to really hit me, the story has to be deeper and developed so I can get the emotion and connection to touch me since it is missing the sexual aspects. YA books such as Slammed or Easy are perfect examples of well written, touching, and emotional stories. This YA book didn’t live up to my expectations. I felt sometimes the author would just say or write something, but the development wasn’t there to make me believe or feel the emotions that were intended. Although there were a few very touching moments such as Beau and Ash’s first confessions of hidden love and even a moment when I had a gulping sob.

Even though I didn’t love the book overall, the story moved very fast, and it was a quick read. Three best friends are from a small town of Grove, Alabama; Sawyer, the golden boy, Beau, the bad boy, and Ashton, the preacher’s daughter. They are inseparable from a young age and as they grow older both boys fall for their best friend, Ash. Sawyer makes the move to claim Ash as his girlfriend and Beau pulls away angry, but because of his love for his cousin, Sawyer, Beau hides his emotions and becomes a bad boy, a partier and player. Sawyer knows how strong Beau’s feelings are for Ash, but his are just as strong and what was funny is they both saw her as completely different. Beau saw her as a free spirit with intense, wild passion. Sawyer put her on a pedestal, made her untouchable, and she acted like the perfect girlfriend for him, but the whole time she wanted to let her hair down, break the rules, and run wild.

“So while the cat is away, the mice will play.” Sawyer goes on a family vacation and Beau and Ash are thrown together several times and eventually give into their feelings for each other. I felt sorry for Sawyer because he was a good guy, somewhat clueless, somewhat weak because he didn’t want to see Beau and Ashton's true connection.

There was one random, big bomb dropped towards the end, but again there wasn’t much elaboration on it, and because of this huge twist I think heads should have rolled, lawsuits should have been filed, and retribution should have been demanded. If this would have happened I think good qualities could have shown through in these young characters to make them more appealing to me.

I keep going back to these YA stories because I love young love, but I seem to find I always want more steam, which due to their target audience I know is not going to be there. Will I ever learn?? Obviously not because I am going to pick up Book 2, The Vincent Brothers, so I can see Sawyer find his happiness.

As the years pass Ashton finds herself changing to be a good girl - acting how she should and always doing the right thing to please Sawyer but when Sawyer goes on vacation during the summer, Ashton soon finds herself re-kindly her friendship with Beau but is it becoming something more? And can they fight off their feelings for one another so they don't hurt Sawyer?

Wow, The Vincent Boys is a heart-pounding story - one that is about first love, betrayal, loss and hidden secrets. From start to finish Abbi Glines captivated me with her easy writing and her fun loving storyline that I'm left dying to try more of her work. I'll I have heard is how good her writing is and honestly, I'm glad I'm not disappointed!

Abbi has created some fantastic characters with Ashton and Sawyer but there was one that is a total stand out and of course that's Beau. Sigh! He's the bad boy of the town; he lives in a trailer, his mother works in a bar, he drinks and he gets into fights and most of all he has a slutty girlfriend but despite all this, you still want him. He's portrayed as a bad boy but appearances aren't everything. Deep down he's such a lovable guy and I'm questioning how the hell do authors come up with characters that are like Beau? He's adorable, hot and sexy and I need a Beau! I adored his relationship with Ashton and mainly I loved finding out how they were friends when they were young children. They were thick as thieves back then - always the two getting into trouble but through-out every Beau always protects Ashton and I loved it!

Now most importantly....there's a book two...yay! I am so not ready to leave these characters behind. When I found out there is going to be another book I'm was uber excited, so I'm seriously happy about that and June 2012 cannot come quick enough!

Highly recommended for a contemporary romance fan! (less)

Can I just grin all day? This book is gawdsmackin' hot! I was giddy the entire time I was reading it. Abbi Glines sure knows how to make absolutely drool-worthy guys and swoon-worthy scenes. This is my third book of her and she's quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

I had put off this book for quite a long time because when I read the synopsis I thought it would be something really frustrating, with the main guy liking his cousin's girlfriend and the girl feeling the same way. It's something that would go messy and complicated eventually and they would start becoming annoying and making stupid decisions and all, and I think I have little patience for that. Those were my first thoughts when I saw it but Rachel, girl, your review totally sold me! Since you said that Glines did a great job handling the sticky situation and didn't ruin the story I decided I'll give this a try.

And yes, you're absolutely right! I loved loved loved it! ^^

The Vincent Boys was a fun, sweet, hot and steamy read! The kind of read where you'll find yourself swooning and grinning like a madman all throughout. Beau, Ash and Sawyer were all lovely characters. You know how I'm a sucker for bad boys with soft hearts so Beau instantly caught my heart. Lol. Anyhoo, what I really loved the most in this story were those childhood memories of them. Even when they were still little I saw how much Beau cared and loved Ash and it was just really sweet, cute and heartwarming that at that young age he already know that Ash is someone very important to him and he'd do everything to protect her in his own silly ways.

Ash, being the girl both the boys were fighting about, didn't become really frustrating.; And I loved her. I loved that she realized what she really felt and acknowledge it but chose to save Beau and Sawyer's relationship instead. And even though it'll hurt her, she cared more of the Vincent boys that she was willing to sacrifice what she really wanted.

There was a twist I really didn't expect to come around the last parts. I was surprised but I was glad how they they handled it. Especially Sawyer and how he realized his mistakes and how he accepted everything. And by the end I just loved those two Vincent boys.

Overall, this is definitely a swoontastic read! Don't worry about the love triangle because it was very well handled. And this book did provide generous amount of hot and steamy scenes that just left me totally melting. Lol. I would absolutely recommend this! I am very much looking forward reading more of Abbi Glines book! ^^

I have a confession to make. I uploaded Kindle on PC at work because of this book. I wasn't going to, I swear! But I kept reading some glowing reviews that I just had to check it out myself. As soon as I got to the first two pages, I pretty much kissed productivity goodbye. I'm awful, I know! I have to uninstall this program before the IT gets wind of it. Can you imagine how much trouble I'm going to be in? I shudder to think.

This is quite possibly one of my favourite contemporary lit of the year. It was so addicting that I barely noticed the time passing. Before I knew it, a work day had passed and 8.5 hours were spent...well, not working.

Meet Ashton, Sawyer and Beau - best of friends since they were kids. Growing up, Ashton and Beau were the quintessential trouble makers and Sawyer was the one who'd had to constantly bail them out of trouble. They were inseparable until Ashton and Sawyer became an item, forcing Beau to the sidelines. Ashton changed dramatically from the wild child to the prototypical preacher's daughter just to keep the perfect veneer that everyone expected from her. They eventually grew apart, to the point that Beau didn't even know who Ashton was anymore. Heck, some days, Ashton didn't even know Ashton anymore. But deep inside, Beau knows that the real Ashton he loved from afar and for so long was still hanging around her goody-two-shoes persona, bursting to come alive. All he had to do was help her realize that perfection is as fabled as unicorns.

I'm a sucker for bad boys, and man Beau played this character to a T. He's mischief and swagger and compassion all rolled into one frustrated hot mess. Unlike every other bad boy characters I've read as of late, he didn't make me want to yank my hair out in utter aggravation. He didn't go out of his way to be a jerk to Ash. In fact, I actually loved the way he needled her to bring out her true personality.

I think this is the FIRST ever love triangle that I could honestly say I truly enjoyed reading. I've figured it out that the annoyance usually come from a character whose feelings waffle between the other two sides. It drives me up the wall! But here, Ash's reluctance to be with Beau stemmed from the fact that she would be the reason for the possible wedge between Beau and Sawyer. I thought her selflessness was commendable. She was willing to valiantly walk out of the boys' lives for their sakes.

The romance between Beau and Ash was sizzling hot; so hot that I'm not quite sure if this fits the YA tag. But I'm not the tag police so I couldn't really care less. Just a heads up though, there was a word that was used that I don't really think is suitable for the YA audience. I won't even mention it. And please don't think that I'm conservative. I'm far from it. Heck, I don't even know if this book is being marketed as YA, so maybe this little reminder is moot.

Anyway, I really love this book. The writing was fresh and straightforward. I couldn't ask for a better book to risk getting in a whole slew of trouble at work.

So why the four star rating? There were some minor...very, very, very minor editing miscues (bare instead of bear, and since instead of sense). I have a Kindle copy so maybe the paperback copy will be different. (less)

Here's the deal. I like this author's style. I like the teen and new adult angst, first loves and family taboos that she brings to the story.

However, the formula of boy meets girl, he 's a bad boy, she's a good-secret bad-girl or she is committed to or loves the good guy buy can't help how she is taken by storm with the bad guy, plus---some secondary characters are littered about to reinforce how "Hawt" the bad boy is, how "charismatic" the good guy is, and how "pretty" or "irresistibl...more

This is quite possibly the best contemporary I have EVER read. I enjoyed every minute of The Vincent Boys. I didn't want it to end. It is one of those books that you wish had unlimited pages to turn. You just want to keep reading it forever.

Over-all, I would say three little words sum this book up pretty accurately- Short and sweet. Which is why I've decided to make my review the same. It wasn't too complicated, and somewhat predictable, but over-all I liked the story. For me though, this book could have gone into a lot more depth- I think the story would have brought out a lot more emotion from it's readers had Ashton and Beau started their relationship off by slowly spending more time together as strictly friends- The relationship between these two jumped into the deep end right away, and way too quickly for my taste. It caused the story and character development to lack, which in turn didn't make me believe or feel any of the emotions that were intended.

The plot was also predictable, but to be fair I knew that going into the story and didn't count my rating against that. If you plan on giving this book a shot, all I can say is just don't count on this story to have high expectations of depth or deep character development- It was an enjoyable read, and I appreciated the Southern flair and small town charm that came with it. It wasn't a memorable novel, or anything to write home about but I enjoyed it all the same. (less)

As soon as I realized The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines had been released, I rushed to Amazon and purchased it for my Kindle. Boy, am I glad I bought it! It only took me a few hours to read it because I COULD NOT put it down. I Absolutely LOVED this book! I’m probably being a little biased (okay, ALOT biased) about my reasons for loving it. It’s cool to be able to say “Hey, I know where that is”. This book actually mentions a place close to my hometown. So that’s reason number 1 of why I’m biased. Reason number 2- HOT Southern Boys! There is just something completely irresistible about a Southern boy who drives a truck and says “Darlin’”! And reasons 3, 4, & 5- Bonfire parties, the beach, and football! Some of my favorite things all included in one book! Can’t get much better than that!

Abbi Glines did an amazing job portraying the attitude and mentality that most Southern people have. She absolutely nailed it, right down to the phrasing and dialect. I love how she made a point of mentioning the following things: Small town busy bodies that pay more attention to everyone else’s business than they do their own, Bible-thumping people who point out parts of the Bible to benefit themselves and ignore the parts that point out their own wrongs, and how people around here judge others based on their parent’s reputation/behavior. I wish I could say those things aren’t true, but sadly they are and Ms. Glines described them with perfection.

Last but not least, what I loved most about this book was the relationship between Ashton and Beau. It was sweet, sexy, playful, and, most of all, it felt natural. *sigh* Completely swoon-worthy!

I’m giving The Vincent Boys 5 stars (4.5 stars). It was a cute read and I recommend it to Young Adults who like swoon-worthy romances! ;)(less)

The Vincent Boys is another awesome novel from author Abbi Glines. I first came to love Abbi Glines’ writing in her debut novel BREATHE when she sent my heart racing with the romance in her debut novel. But in The Vincent Boys, my heart was pounding. I knew Glines had a gift for writing romance, but after reading Ash, Sawyer and Beau's romance, I now know Glines has a gift for writing the steamy, too .Abbi Glines just took me back to those teenage years of feeling that swoony romance again. This book was packed with romantic chemistry from chapter one. Had some girls recommend this book and I read it while stuck in the hospital. It helped the time go by much better, that's for sure.
