Big Big Books are just like Big Little Books with text on the even numbered pages and illustrations on the odd numbered pages. They are much larger than BLBs, and even a little larger than most hardcover books, giving, perhaps, three times as much text per illustration as a BLB. This gives the writer room to shine, or not, the latter being what happens in this story about Western film hero Buck Jones.

The story begins well, middles well, but has a silly ending. It lost its way as author Gaylord D

Gaylord McIlvaine Du Bois (as it appears on his baptism certificate), or DuBois (He signed it both ways: as two words, both capitalized; and as one word with a capital "B") (August 24, 1899 Winthrop, Massachusetts – October 20, 1993 Orange City, Florida) In his lifetime he wrote well over 3000 comic book stories and comic strips as well as Big Little Books and juvenile adventure novels.
