It indeed feels incredible to see the usage of beautiful English among Indian writers and Andre Beteille is undoubtedly one of them. The book is very careful to not repeat details which is a relief. The accounts are narrated well, too many details tires and bores the reader whereas inadequate information keeps the reader unsatisfied. The balance is struck well. It has indeed been a pleasure to see the society from the eyes of a sociologist!
