I’ve read a lot of good books lately and only given them 4 stars. To give a book 5 stars, it’s got to totally consume me, to get deep under my skin and this book definitely did that. I need to feel the intensity of the character’s passion, the ferocity of their feelings and the depths of their despair and it’s all here in this book. It owned me. Wow. This is on dark and twisted story. I was enthralled from the moment I picked up the book. You pick up the story and you immediately know you’re in a journal. In this journal a woman is revealing an intense BDSM experience with edge play. It’s intense. It’s dark. This woman is broken and messed up and it all comes out on the page. Since I know there will be three books, I think that first one was written well and included what we need to know. Not a lot happened but I think it was important for the series for us to get enough insight on the characters. It focused a lot on the blossoming relationship between Chris and Sara. I do wish we would have gotten a few more clues and wow moments but im thinking the next book will bring us plenty! The story is sexy, suspenseful and full of intrigue....more

At first I had a big OS moment, thinking I had been seduced by yet another synopsis. I just couldn't get into the first couple of chapters. But by chapter 5, it got into me. It got into me fast...hard! I'm so glad I didn't give up on this book.

Let me tell you what I think. If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones is just one big tease. It's an incomplete story with poorly developed characters & a thread-bare plot line. On top of it all, the story ends very abruptly. It's not even a real cliffhanger!
