Traumatized by her past, and struggling to move on from it, Sera has spent the past three years of college hiding herself from the world and content to stay that way. A chance encounter with Liam shatters her sheltered world, leaving her stunned and shaken by the strange feelings and emotions he arises in her, feelings she never thought she would experience and that fright...more

This was literally a book I stumbled across on accident. I was looking through the free books offered for the iPad and came across this one. Now, I have always been one of those people who tended to stay away from ebooks just because I like the stability and concrete feeling of holding an actual book in my hands. I am proud to say that Awakened is my first book that I have read on an electronic device. If anything, being able to read something electronically has only increased my love of books....more

Given two stars for the simple reason that I have read worse. However, this book was awful. I think that the story itself may have been decent, but it was executed very poorly. The characters were very dry and flat and lacked conviction in basically every aspect. I felt so disconnected throughout the entire book, that I failed to even feel compassion for the main character when she revealed her troubling past. There was far too much 'sex', and even if I enjoyed reading about it every other page,...more

This book needs editing. In a way it's just a few minor things, but it got really annoying: to/too, apostrophes, etc.

I thought Sera had a lot of potential as a heroine, with her background and all, but once she meets the 'hero' of this book, she really stops developing as a character. Also, it really bugs me that the author didn't explain how/why vampires exist, what their powers are, or even how they function (i.e. apparently in this world, vampires can still have kids - say what?!). I also tho...more

After the shadow that the Twilight series cast on vampire stories, I wasn't expecting this to be a great book. Most of the vampire-based novels and novellas coming out these days, have obvious influences from Stephanie Meyers' books. The synopsis sounded interesting, so I figured I'd give it a try. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised.

While I could definitely see some similarities between this book and the entire Twilight series, it was only in certain areas, and only when I consciously looked fo...more

I had much higher hopes for this book. I made it about twenty percent of the way through it only to decide I was wasting my time. When there are so many grammatical errors that I am too distracted to get into the story, there's a problem. Notice my spelling of "to" ("...distraced to get into the story")... it is spelled with only ONE o and NOT two. I stopped counting the number of times the author made an error with this simple word ("I have to finish. I have too."... and "...but suddenly I wasn...more

This review is full of spoilers and expletives, so, beware.

I got this book for free, because, well, it was free. It had 4 stars on amazon, so I figured, okay, let's do this. Now, first of all, someone seems to have a bit of trouble with the difference between to and too, which makes for some hilarious quotes, 'I don't want you too' being the one that sticks out the most in my mind, but there are others, as other reviewers have pointed out. Yes, we could use a bit more editing, methinks. Also: '...more

What a pleasant surprise this was. I loved Sera and Liam. They were great together. This was a little slow for me for maybe the first chapter. But then I was quickly swept away with this story. I thought this was YA but I was seriously mistaken. Since it take place at collage I would say NA to Adult for sure. There was a lot of sex going on.

Sera a great character. She was strong in what she believed in. Even when things were tough and it would have been easier to walk away and she had her moment...more

I don't think I have ever given a 1 star rating but I could not muster up a 2 here, I did try please believe me.

The editing on this book was skipped completely and the errors were just too much, words were completely missing in some sentences. I don't know how many times you can say he hissed, he grated (whatever that means), his hands tightened around her, her bottom lip trembled, he bellowed, his eyes snapped towards this person or that person, his jaw clenched, her jaw clenched, her eyes wide...more

Wow... another freebie that I was actually pleasantly surprised by. I didn't expect much considering this was a free book and it was about vampires, which let's face it has been a genre beat into the ground ever since Twilight.

It takes a lot to make any kind of stand out vampire novel in this day and age.

Awakened was decently different though, however it's also one of those novels that I think could have been delved into more in depth than what it was. - Liam and the gangs t...more

I was shocked how much I love this story!! The story takes place on a college campus with college students. Sera is in her senior year and is very timid around men. Sera was brutally attacked but NOT RAPED by her boyfriend Jacob after leaving their Senior year homecoming party. This incident has left Sera emotionally scared and afraid because her friends and family did not believe her. Liam is a newly created vampire and meets Sera at his house's frat party. They are immediately attracted to eac...more

If you are a fan of dry, repetitive sex, this book is for you. If you love to read a book that has a definitive story arc and engulfing plot line, don't even bother. I pushed myself through this book with hopes that it would get better... it didn't and now I'm upset that I even bothered when I could of read something that used more than one form of a word over and over... I'm really sorry this is so negative, but I feel if you must incorporate sex into every single chapter to get a good story, j...more

Have you ever read a vampire novel where you forget you're reading a vampire novel? Awakened is just like that...only more so. I have never read a story where the fact that the main character is a vampire seems superfluous .
It seems to me Ms. Davies was torn between writing a young adult romance story about love giving a couple strength to cope with past trauma, and a kitschy coming if age vamp novel. I mean, the reader doesn't even really discover physical proof that Liam is a blood sucker u...more

Actually this is 3.5 stars. What prevented me from giving this book 4 stars is that there were somethings that were a bit sill to me. First was the over usage of the word bellowed. Second was that Liam had a dagger by the bed. Seriously, who uses daggers anymore? Liam is a typical college kid, yes, he is *gasp* a vampire, but he is a fairly new vampire. There is no reason for him to have a dagger like he was a vampire from the medieval ages. Although there were a lot of things happening, the aut...more

Twilight meets Fifty Shades of Grey!!!!I give it 3 1/2 stars... I got this book for free. It started off slowly, with nearly half the book read I finally get into it. Much like Fifty's Ana, Sera spent most of the book crying like a foolish child; however, I liked it enough to buy the second book. And yes like most ppl have said it does need to be edited better but I got over that.

Some of the review is in the comment section.

I felt the author lost the plot after a while. So many flaws in this.

It could have been something but it was actually nothing. At first I did really like the two main characters as the storyline went by I felt the spark just died.

It got too sickening cheesy about how much I love you and want you and too much sex.

I do not mind sex in storylines but when it starts to over take thats when it annoys me. God sakes honestly?! Too much sex in a story end up...more

I picked this up as a free read on apple and really didn't have high hopes for it. That said, I was ready to be proved wrong if the story turned out to actually be decent. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. There are SO many things wrong with this book and I don't want to rant, so I'll put some of the major things in to good and bad bullet points.

Good (list considerably shorter):

>Sera, the main protagonist, did actually seem to do a bit of developing. So I guess that's something that's usuall...more

I liked this book. It had likeable character. Sera is a woman frightened of men. (I would tell you why but it is better when you read it. Though it isn't as bad as what you are thinking but bad enough). She shy's away and keeps her distance from them. At first sight of Liam Sera is drawn to him. And finds herself trusting him like she never has anyone else. So you have Serea who is frightened of men, Liam with some big secret, a pissed of one night stand on Liam's side weeks before he met Sara,...more

I really hate not finishing a book, so I pushed myself to finish this one. I don't know how to explain what I feel after reading "Awakened".

I guess I will start here:
Since I can't really type because my wrist is sprained, I decided to read. Well, this author has in her book description "professionally edited by so and so." I thought, Yay! Edited book. -_- Well, that was false hope. Throughout the whole thing, the word "too" is used wrong. No, not just once or a few times. Throughout the whole th...more

Let me start by saying I REALLY enjoyed this book and it was free. Yes, it did have some elements that were similar to other well known vampire books, but not so many that it felt like a re-read. Overall I thought this book had more than enough originality to keep my interest. The only thing that kept me from giving this book a 5 star review was the editing, or more specifically lack thereof. It became choppy in some places and there was a definite redundancy with wor...more

First of all, i thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was nice to read a story that revolved around college students and a frat house without getting campy. Although the characters weren't overly unique or deep, they were consistent, and despite these points i found myself liking them. In these ways the story was phenomenal. I also found it odd but welcome that at about halfway through the story I'd already felt like I'd finished a complete novel... only to find there was an immediate sequel. I'm not...more

Read this in ONE sitting. Over about 6 hours. Was FANTASTIC!

This was a great book, made even better by the fact that it is FREE on Amazon right now, lol. I love the genre that I so affectionately call Vampire Smut, lol.

Not only was the smut excellent, it was really an excellent story of past hurts, love and lies. It was great.

It probably tied up a little to neatly for most people, but an easy happy ending is good every once in a while, I say! Plus that's just what I needed with the other heavy r...more

Okay, I just can't read this book anymore, it's too horrible! The plot is horrible and clique and all the women are portrayed as either bitches or sluts, or both. I found the characters to be very underdeveloped, besides perhaps Liam and Sera. The way that the story unfolded made me rather bored with the story. I knew that there had to be something paranormal about Liam and his frat boy friends, and I was kind of aggravated when the story continued on for sometime before the secret is revealed.

This book had a lot of potential and a good story line but was executed badly.
I am going to start by BEGGING the author to please learn the English language. My ten year old daughter knows the difference between 'to' and 'too' way better than Brenda! In fact I'll go as far as saying the entire universe knows this difference but this author. I could have forgiven the many spelling mistakes, but seriously the whole 'too' thing was not a mistake but a rather clear lack of knowledge! Now for the re...more

A rather damaged young woman meets a to whom man she is strangely attracted while attending a frat party. Things get complicated both in their budding relationship and in her friendships which aren't all they should be.

I had a very hard time reading this book and almost didn't finish it. There are numerous errors in word use and some plain old typos as well. Some of the descriptions boggled my mind, when I tried to picture them and most of the writing was without depth. There were a few sex scen...more

The book wasn't bad and the story itself was okay however I couldn't get past the grammatical errors and it put me off.

The author seemed to get the word to and too mixed up. For instance. "I just didn't know where too go too." Okay when it happens occasionally but when it happens over and over again it really starts to get on your tits a bit!

Liam didn't seem like a vampire at all. The way the author described his heart beat made me laugh! He's dead, surely he's not supposed to have a heart beat?...more

I have mixed feelings about this one. The story itself was decent, but the editing was awful! I admire anyone that can write a novel, but how many times can "too" be misused when it should be "to"? I would guess there are 50+ errors. The dialogue was elementary, too. A lot of "I don't know," "No," "You'll see," etc, which just seemed to be empty words, space fillers, and didn't really move the story along. I feel badly for writing this negative review because I am not one to judge since I've nev...more

It was a free book on ibooks and is also available on the Kindle. It was easy to read. Good story, action and the characters are interesting. I was immediately pulled into the book. I would read more from this author.

Came across this as a freebie, and was surprised. I liked it. Easy story to read although somewhat predictable, but had a better than average plot to others of this genre. I liked Liam and his friends were likable, too. Sera cries a lot, and tends to repeat herself. I don't know why but the term mousy comes to mind even though she wasn't overly timid. The whole plot revolves around the notion of one's true love and soul mates.

Things to like: Liam actually cared for her. He knew she was hurt in...more

This book starts out at college, where you have two roommates who are opposites of each other. One is bubbly and bouncy, the other is more reserved, and as the story moves on, you find out why. After convincing her friend to come with her to a party instead of staying home and studying on a Friday night, they both attend a frat house party. Bubbly goes off and has fun, Reserved (or Sera!) has a more quiet time of it.

There enters our lead male, Liam. He talks to his friend about who Sera is and i...more

To begin I would like to state this is a ADULT book not YA as I had thought. With that being said if you're a fan of boring, repetitive sex scenes that you end up skipping because either they're too much or just don't make any sense, this book is for you.

If like me you love to read a good book filled with great dialog and has a definitive story and all consuming plot, don't waste your time. I disliked this book from the beginning, but being someone who can't start a book with out finishing it I...more
