Alexa Conroy is in a bit of a pickle left with a struggling business, Divine Flowers, a high end floral shop which in a depressed economy is not doing too well. She has just sold her dream house to pay off the businesses backed up bills and just moved into an apartment above her flower shop. Just one more problem is Value Hardware, a large store drawing business away by their promises of flowers at a discount. To add insult to injury, the owners of Value Hardware own the building that houses her shop and apartment, and with every overdue notice, her hatred of them grows just a little more.

Enter Dillon James, his family owns Value Hardware and the building Alexa lives in is his baby. He’s renovating it personally with a focus on making it green for the benefit of the environment. Yes, his family is big business, but he is trying to make a difference in the world with his money. When Alexa mistakes him for the building’s handyman, he goes along with the mistaken identity. It’s nice for a change to have someone interested in him for him, and not for his money. He keeps up the charade when he finds out the hatred Alexa has for Value Hardware because he really likes her and is worried once she finds out who he really is, she’ll cut him loose.

No Flowers Required reminded me a lot of the movie You’ve Got Mail with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. I loved that movie so, while this story was a bit predictable, I enjoyed it. I would’ve enjoyed this story more if I liked Alexa more from the beginning. Up until about 40% of the story, I didn’t really care for her. She was pretty unlikeable and very rude to Dillon. Personally, I don’t know what he even saw in her at first. Maybe that she was feisty? At any rate, she ended up softening and becoming much more likable and sweet, which is a good thing because I usually don’t like a story if I can’t connect with or like the main character. Dillon on the other hand was a complete sweetheart the entire story. The fact that he was HOT, with delicious tattoos, and could fix things didn’t hurt my appreciation for him AT ALL! I leave you with a steamy quote:

He cast a sideways glance at her, and the tipped toward each other like bowling pins pulled by magnets. Her lips were so close, a breath away. If he leaned in, if he just could taste her once---At the last second, he jerked back. Christ. Her pupils were dilated, her lips parted. She’d been ready for that kiss. Hell, she’d wanted it too. The second book in the Love Required series by Cari Quinn. No Flowers Required turned out to be a pretty good read. Alexa Conroy is struggling trying to keep her business afloat. She had to sell her home and move to a small studio apartment where she meets handyman, Dillon James. Unknown to Alexa, Dillon is really her landlord and also owns the building her business is in. Ok were do I find a 'handyman' like Dillon?!?
Simply loved the chemistry between Alexa & Dillon! And let me tell you the love scenes were smoking sizzling hot!! No wonder they needed the rain ;)

Too bad we didn't get a Epilogue :( would have liked to know if they get married, if there gonna be babies etc.. lol BUT I was told by Cari Quinn herself that there are gonna be more books in the Love Required series and in those were gonna get a peek at Dillon and Alexa"s life! :)

No Flowers Required sets up a great plot with issues that are very relevant to small businesses today. The characters are personable and relatable. The sexy scenes had me turning on the fan to lower the temperature in the room!... This was a very hot and sexy read. It had a great story line and lots of laughs. Both Alexa and Dillion have great personalities. This story picks up after "No Dress Require" which I also liked. No Flower's Required is a great story about 2 people that want to prove something. Alexa wants to prove to herself that she can keep her flower shop running and doesn't need a knight in shining armor to save her. Wow, this book was sweet and hot. I absolutely loved it.

When I saw that Cari Quinn’s No Flowers Required was up for review I jumped at the chance to read another one of her stories. She has a good track record with me and this one was another good story of hers. It was a fun, sexy read and definitely one that I found entertaining. Alexa Conroy is in financial trouble with her flower store business and has recently sold her dream home and moved into an apartment above the store. She is hoping the money from the sale can put a dent in her debt to pay for the rent on the shop in a recession economy. What doesn’t help her situation is that the local hardware, Value Hardware, is also selling plants and flowers cheaper and taking business away. Needing help with a leaky sink she goes looking for help and comes across a handyman in the next apartment. What she didn’t bargain for is a hot looking guy and an instant attraction to him.

Dillon James would rather work with his hands and refurbish the apartments and homes for returning veterans than help his older brother in the running of the Value Hardware chain of stores. He sees Alexa and also is attracted to her and doesn’t correct her in thinking he is just a handyman. When he finds out that she has a strong hatred for Value Hardware he doesn’t confess who he really is and the deception begins. He didn’t mean to lie to her but he truly cared for her and wanted her to see HIM for the man is his now and not the money behind the name. But will she understand his reasons for lying and not think worse of him? Can they build something from the definite chemistry that they have between them to a real relationship? All good questions he ponders after spending more time with her and really liking her and helping her make her business a success.

I could understand what Dillon did and he explains it in his POV throughout the story. He helps her make improvements to her store and hopes she takes these suggestions and runs with them. Thankfully she did. At the same time he builds her confidence with small tokens of flowers that truly touches Alexa in ways no one else has before. She’s leery at first but she lets him get closer and the hot sex they have together is just icing on the cake. And boy howdy is it ever HOT! Little by little Alexa’s business improves and she’s got money coming in. Alexa is a strong woman and wants to stand on her own and make this business work. She took it over after her friend Roz died and wants to bring it back into the black. I can understand her wanting to do it on her and not feeling indebted to anyone and the satisfaction of it being all her hard work.

When the time comes for Dillon to tell her the truth of who he is her reaction is what I expected. She doesn’t wallow but stands up to him and demands answers to the question of why he did what he did. I like the fact that she doesn’t let him off the hook but gives him another chance. What may not have been clear was why Alexa was reluctant to open her heart to anyone. What caused her to feel betrayed and scared to love? If that was explained a little better I think I would have liked her more and given it more stars.

No Flowers Required is the second story in the Love Required series but I didn’t read the first and definitely see it as a standalone story. Ms. Quinn writes a good plotline and characters that are quite likeable. I wish there had been an epilogue telling me what happens to them but I have a good feeling that there is a HEA for Alexa and Dillon. There is another story coming out soon for Dillon’s brother Cory so I hope we get a chance to see them in that book.

Let me start by saying that when I first saw the summary for this on goodreads I was sold. I mean, come on, a guy with piercings and tattoos? If we were in a bookstore and there was a line about a mile long with people waiting to purchase books and get home, I'd have knocked them all out of the way in order to get to the cashier first to pay for this book and gotten myself home. So, Alexa Conroy owns a flower shop that has seen better days. Better days that is until the recession hit and people just didn't give a shit about the quality of her work anymore and were interested in the cheaper stuff that could be bought elsewhere. So yeah, Alexa took a hit. A big hit. She has to sell her freaking dream home and moves into one of the crappy, rundown apartments above her shop. Let me just say right now that I felt for her. How would you feel if you had to get rid of your dream place in order to make ends meat? I tell ya, this whole recession thing is a real shitty downer, but I digress.

Dillon James is set to inherit the big business that is set to foreclose on Alexa's little shop. He, however, is not your typical heir. Not only is he reluctant to take the reins of the corporation but he's not what comes to mind when you think of the head of a major operation that is worth a shitload. Let's just say that piercings and tattoos are not what comes to my mind when I think like that. Never mind the fact that it's not nice to judge, nor is it right.

But sparks fly when Dillon and Alexa meet. It's all a matter of mistaken identity, however. It's also a mistake that Dillon does not want to rectify seeing as if Alexa found out who he really is the shit would hit the fan and he'd essentially lose her. No, guys, he doesn't want that. Not with the sizzling chemistry that these two seem to have and the fact that they're actually happy and enjoying each other. But, alas, all good things must come to an end... or did they?

You'll need to read it and find out!

Overall I really enjoyed this story. It was well-written, evenly paced and quite entertaining. It was also a really quick read for me and I'm rather glad that I took a chance on it. Looking forward to what next Cari Quinn has in store for us.

While working on the rehab of a vacant apartment in Alexa's building she mistakes him for the handyman and asks him to come fix her bathroom sink that has soaked her to the skin while she was trying to get moved in.

Dillian doesn't correct Alexa's mistake and soon he feels he can't. As the relationship between Alexa and Dillian grows and Alexa starts to trust Dillian he feels worse and worse about perpetuating the mistaken identity but is afraid to lose her.

Wow! This is an amazingly well written book with an awesome strong heroine and a bad boy with a marshmallow center hero. Ms. Quinn brings the characters to life in a way that you can almost experience the ups and downs of the relationship, as well as feel the heat from the spicy sex scenes. Alexa is your average hard working small business owner who has more than her share of downs when it comes to her flower shop but she is willing to put everything on the line to keep it going, she has not been open in the past to relationships and love. Dillian wants to give back to the world around him and works hard to make the properties he is in charge of a better place as well as working hard for a charity that helps build houses for veterans and their family's.

You will be able to dive into this story and feel the love, sexual tension and frustrations that the characters go through, while this is a second in a series it completely stands alone with brief cameos by the hero and heroine of the first book.

I’m a big fan of Cari Quinn’s erotic romances for Ellora’s Cave but this was my first time with her new Love Required series for the Brazen line of Entangled. “No Flowers Required” is the follow-up to “No Dress Required” but it works well as a stand-alone story.

Our story begins with the newly downgraded circumstances facing Alexa Conroy as she struggles to keep her recently inherited specialty flower shop open in the face of ongoing competition by the big hardware chain threatening to put her out of business. She’s sold her beloved home in an attempt to keep the bills at bay and moved into an apartment just above her shop that’s barely fit for humans. It seems like the universe is against her in so many ways and that she should just give up. But then she meets Dillon.

Dillon James is the co-heir to the company started by his mother and stepfather, one which not only owns the hardware chain that is Alexa’s sworn enemy but also the very building in which she lives. His brother has thrown himself into making the company even more financially successful, and will stop at nothing to make that happen, even if it means kicking Alexa out of her shop and her apartment. But Dillon cares more about people than profit margins, which is why he’s tasked himself with personally rehabilitating all the shabby apartments in the buildings owned by his family’s company. That decision pays off for him on the day he meets Alexa. They have an immediate physical attraction in spite of themselves and that attraction soon builds into an emotional connection which is threatened by what will happen when Alexa finds out who Dillon really is.

“I would’ve said I could shoot rainbows out of my ass to keep your mouth on mine.”

Normally I’m not a big fan of the mistaken identity trope, as it tends to distract me from enjoying the actual story of how the hero and heroine fall in love if it’s not done well. I’m happy to say that “No Flowers Required” handles it very well, especially when we see how the initial misunderstanding occurs from both Alexa and Dillon’s POV and how the reveal finally occurs. Both Alexa and Dillon are sympathetically portrayed and their respective circles of friends and family provide additional character support to give us a fuller picture of who they are as individuals and how they can succeed together as a couple. I also liked how Dillon’s brother, the presumed villain of the story, was more than just a stereotype and how we got to see his actual motivations and ultimately, his growth as a key character in the story.

“No Flowers Required” is a winning story of two realistic characters who turn an intense physical attraction into true love. I enjoyed it immensely and will be going back to read the first story in the series while waiting for the next one to be released.

Oh my goodness! I am in love! This is a sweet, sexy story with a lot of heart and humor. I loved the characters, I loved the story arc, I loved how grounded this tale was in relatable situations. The heroine, Alexa, owns a small business and her hopes and fears and stresses are very familiar. She's dealing with expectations from, well, herself mostly, and the promises she made to the woman who mentored her and left her the little flower shop she's know struggling to keep afloat. The hardware store down the road has began selling flowers. Alexa really HATES the hardware store and it's bargain arrangements that are outselling her artistically arranged original pieces. She's just downsized and sold her house because of the money pinch she's under and is feeling very vulnerable and like a bit of a falure as she moves into an apartment above her flower shop. I admired her so much. She is a fighter and not planning on quitting, you can feel her drive to work even harder to make the store succeed.

When Alexa moves into her little apartment she has trouble with the bathroom sink and that's just icing on the cake of her bad day. She stomps down the steps looking for the super and sees a guy working on some flooring in an empty apartment. She assumes he's the handyman and tells him about the problem. Dillon is my kind of guy. *sigh* He's big and buff and has tattoos and an eyebrow ring. He has a big heart, and works hard to give back some of the blessings he's been given... and he's NOT the super. He's actually one of the owners of the building and of the hardware store. He didn't set out to lie... He was just tired of people wanting him for his money and so he went along with her assumption. And of course you just know that that decision is gonna bite him in the butt!

Alexa and Dillon have delicious chemstry and she's thinking she might try a fling, to blow off some steam with a hot, nice, guy. Dillon does mantenance on her apartment and he knows she's going through a difficult transition. He starts leaving her little flowers and a cute daisy rug from the thrift store that made him think of her. Alexa's heart is softening and her walls are coming down. She doesn't ask for help, she doesn't need help, but the fact that he is offering it is heartwarming and comforting. She didn't realize that was something she would welcome. There's more than just heat, there's the seeds of hope. Dillon and Alexa start a relationship thinking it's going to be purely physical. But when Alexa has a really bad day her first instinct is to call him. What happens after is so beautiful and warm. It's one of my favorite parts of the book. I loved watching the two of them discover there was more between them then they started out wanting.

I like how Dillon is not trying to rescue her. Yes, he calls her princess, but he doesn't feel the need to be her knight in shining armor and slay her dragons. He respects her skills and trusts that she can slay her own beasts. He just wants to share some of his weapons with her by giving her some hard won business advice and some tools that might help promote her business. He actually sits and helps her with a flower order. There's something incredibly sexy about a guy being willing to step out of his comfort zone and lend a hand on something he's inexperienced with, just cause he knows an extra hand is needed.

Alexa and Dillon's relationship is growing closer all the time and she's opening up to him and trusting him. But all along there's that dark cloud over Dillon's head, his big fat lie of ommission. You know, and he knows that is a big problem. Lies always are.

I enjoyed seeing them deal with the challenges in their relationship and deciding if what they had was worth fighting for. I highly recommend No Flower's Required if you like well drawn, relatable characters and delicious chemistry that burns up the pages, run, don't walk and get this sweet, soulful and sexy book!

OMG, I didn’t make it past the first few pages before I was in love with the story… the first chapter before I was in LOVE with Dillon!

No Flowers Required by Cari Quinn is easily the best contemporary romance books I've read to date this year. With lovable characters, witty dialogue and good supporting characters, this tale of love among the flowers grabbed me from the first page. I've read other books by Ms. Quinn but I really feel as if she upped her game while writing this book. Now I want to own a flower shop and move in to one of the apartments above it so I can find my own Dillon James.

Alexa Conroy is a fun heroine; beautiful, smart and willing to work hard to save her shop, Divine Flowers. Selling her dream house because she needs the money she'll make off the sale and moving into an apartment upstairs from her shop is a sacrifice she's willing to make, having plumbing issues the first day is something she's not going to tolerate. Meeting the hunky "maintenance man" she needs to repair her pipes is just what she needs. Falling in lust with him is just a perk, falling in love with him wasn't a part of her plans, neither was finding out he's the son, brother and heir of her business rival.

Dillon James can't run away from his business responsibilities or family anymore. With his parents looming retirement set to take place soon, Dillon's forced to get to know the family business. Being in charge of the family rental properties is something he enjoys, especially after he meets Alexa, one of his new tenants. Finding out she hates his family business and refuses to even mention their name, puts a wrench in his plans and suddenly Dillon finds himself hiding who he really is. Falling for Alexa is easy, telling her the truth....not so much.

The chemistry between Alexa and Dillon is evident from their first encounter and their witty banter turns up the heat. Dillon's refusal to act on his attraction because of his lack of honesty, is commendable and of course turns up the heat. I liked how Ms. Quinn had them wait to become intimate until they got to know each other a lot better (even if Alexa still didn't really know his family connection). It made it that much sweeter.

The secondary characters were very likable, from Alexa's brother Jake and his wife Nellie (Noelle), who were the central characters in the first story of this series, No Dress Required, to Dillon's parents and his brother Cory, whose story I hope we get next. Even Alexa's employees were entertaining and believable.

Will Alexa still be in love with Dillon when he's forced to come clean about who and what he is? And will Divine Flowers be able to stay afloat? You'll have to read No Flowers Required to find out. I loved it and can't wait to see where Ms. Quinn goes next with this series.(less)

2 words "ROOFTOP" Why is it that when I get a handyman, he's NOTHING like Dillon, NOT FAIR lol. I have to say that Alexa was a great female character. I loved that she fought for what she wanted and what she believed in. She didn't need a man to come and help her out, but she was willing to step aside and let one help when he came along. There were times when I wanted to kick her but I kind of understood where she was coming from. I felt for her, inheriting a flower shop was not all what it's cracked up to be. Not only did she inherited the shop but also all the debt that came with it. Not being able to take care of all the bills she was forced to sell her dream home.When she moves into her new apartment she mistaken Dillon for the handyman,not knowing that in fact he is the owner of the building she is living in. Not only is he the owner but his family owns the hardware store that putting her out of business.

Dillon was not expecting to fall in love with Alexa, so when he lied he didn't think that it would come back to bite him in the ass. But really would you tell someone you liked that your family owned the business that was making it hard for them to make any business I think NOT, so I could understand why he did it. Was it right NO. I love how Dillon treat Alexa, he's an all around great guy who truly just wants to help her, and for that I can look past his lies.

I can't wait to read more about Cory, Ms. Quinn left me intrigued with this character. And since this is the 2nd book in the series I have to go back and read the 1st book. I'm so looking forward to continue with this series and I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute read with a sexy man who's not afraid to put his heart on his sleeves!

Wow! What a difference from the first book in this series. After reading the first book in this series I was really worried about this book. I wasn't a big fan of the first book as it was very short and I felt like I didn't have time to really know the characters and therefore I couldn't really like them. For me... if I don't know or like the characters I just can't like the book. I am glad to say this book was a million times better! I adored this. Another amazing addition to the Brazen imprint of Entangled Publishing. I am not under the impression that when it comes to the Brazen imprint they cannot come out with a book I will not absolutely love.

Alexa is struggling. With the flower shop that was left to her struggling for business she moves to a small rundown flat above her shop. Her life has definitely taken a bad turn... But then she spots Dillon. The drop-dead gorgeous guy doing work on her buiding. Suddenly she is drawn into a whirlwind sexcapade with Dillon. But will she be able to keep herself from falling for him? And who is he really?

I loved this book! It was so damn good and so damn HAWT! Now Dillon... he is definitely my kind of man *fans self* He is drop dead gorgeous, sweet and tattooed... oh yes! I was sold!! I definitely loved the characters in this book. Alexa is a fantastic heroine... she is independant and is determined to succeed by herself. She knows that if she tries her damn hardest she can do anything and I freaking loved that about her. I mean seriously what's not to love? She's awesome.
Okay let's talk about Dillon... I am in love!! I love him Although yeah I kinda wanted to slap him for not telling her who he was to start but damn I love him anyway. He is sweet and adorable and all he wanted was to help Alexa succeed. He is one hot guy that every girl will love!!

This book was paced a lot better than the first in the series. I had time to really get a feel for who these characters were as people and be curious about what had happened to make them feel the way they did, particularly Alexa and her hatred for the other cooperation. I felt like I really connected with the characters and really cared about what was going to happen. I love that their relationship was not rushed. There was no instalove or anything like that. Although they were in a physical relationship quite early on in the book it took a lot of things to happen and a lot of development for them to admit to their feelings and for things to work out.

This was a great contemporary romance that I absolutely adored and fell head over heels in love with the story and the character and was unable to put the book down. A fantastic fast read for any romance fans.

Okay so this book was a big improvement from the first one in this series. First of all because it was actually the length of a normal book, but it was also a major improvement plot wise.
Alexa is used to being in charge and living with plenty of money. But then the economy tanked, and the woman that she considered her second mom and who was also her employer died leaving her with a business to run and loads of debt to pay off. Don't you love books that make you laugh, cry, cringe, pant and snort??? I do. No Flowers Required was just that good. From the wonderful characters, to the believable, heart-wrenching story, to the witty repartee between friends and family, the fabulous book kept me riveted from beginning to end.

ADULT BOOK

My random thoughts and whatnot on this book...

brace yourselves... you know how I get when I'm excited about something!

so yeah... that cover is SOOOOO AMAZING! I love it - if you are observant and look closely, you'll notice they are both soaking wet - yeah... doesn't make sense until you read the book - - - once you read it is will make the cover completely AMAZING for you - I swear! I obviously loved this book - but really - I think you will also! I know it is a second in a series - b...more ADULT BOOK

so yeah... that cover is SOOOOO AMAZING! I love it - if you are observant and look closely, you'll notice they are both soaking wet - yeah... doesn't make sense until you read the book - - - once you read it is will make the cover completely AMAZING for you - I swear! I obviously loved this book - but really - I think you will also! I know it is a second in a series - but you can TOTALLY read this as a stand-alone. Book 1 - No Dress Required - can also be read as a stand-alone. The characters carry over so it's nice to have background there, but not necessary.

Ummmmm let me think here... sorry - I'm a still little flustered -

I loved Alexa - she is great - smart, sharp, witty, strong, stubborn, sexy, bitchy (only sometimes), emotional, etc etc etc - I loved her. I want to be her friend... she is so strong and yet so vulnerable all at the same time. She has all these walls in place to keep people out... and then her world turns upside down, again. She already made so many sacrifices to keep Divine running and now... she is about to just shatter and here comes Dillon. I loved watching her walls slowly crack to him - really without her even realizing it... LOVED IT. I love the back and forth and the notes in the bathroom (I know that sounds really weird, but you have to read the book... I'm not explaining). Geeez, the notes are so cute and fit so perfectly with them and the story. Let's move on to the beef cake man candy of the story...

YUMMY - let me tell you a little about Dillon James... He works construction - rehabbing old houses for charity and making repairs to rentals... let me just say - I would be so stoked to have him as my landlord. So knowing that you know he is BUILT - hard as a rock with useful muscles and skills.... he has hard calloused hands, stacked arms, and a sculpted back. **sigh** In addition - he is tattoo'd and pierced **swoon** He has several tattoos that you will be introduced to in the story and he has a pierced brow....... uh huh **nodding my head in an 'I told you so' manner**

In addition to all that - he really is a nice guy wrapped in the bad boy we all love... rides a Harley but does charity work - COME ON!

he is smart, sweet, caring, strong, driven... etc etc etc ... need I go on?

While reading No Flowers Required, it played like a Movie in my head. The scenes were easy to follow, the dialogue fun and sometime surprising. When I finished the book I smiled, I felt like I had read a modern day fairytale with both the prince and princess on equal playing grounds and rescuing each other in their own way.

I thoroughly enjoyed No Flowers Required. Both Dillon and Alexa have good hearts and intentions. They worked well together and helped each other grow. Even though Romance is technically a new genre for me, I had no problems adjusting to it with this light hearted, fun read full of physical and emotional chemistry. I appreciated that the story did not follow the stereotypical couple tantrums that I seem to be reading more of. Rather than stomping feet and running off - refusing to communicate - the couple, although heated and reluctant - tried communicating and LISTENING to each other.

Because of this maturity and openness as well as an excellent story, I feel that No Flowers Required is a cut above the average book bouquet. Earning itself five skullies - a must buy book!

Recommended audience: Adult book (18 and up) with adult situations. The sex scenes are tastefully written.

Would I read it again? Yes
