I am a HUGE zombie fan. From Resident Evil to Walking Dead, if it has a zombie in it chances are I've seen it or will be seeing it. And, yes, that includes made for TV crap that most people turn as soon as they see SciFi or Chiller channel. LOL

So, how could I not love a story that is like the Walking Dead, but with sexy times.

But I have to say, once I read the excerpt, I was hooked. Kylie Scott is an author who has an excellent “voice”. Her prose is clean, witty, and grips you from page 1 and never lets go.

Although a post-apocalyptic world is the backdrop of this story, the focus is primarily on the relationships between the heroine Ali and her two men, Daniel and Finn.

Did I just say TWO men? Why, yes I did. ;-)

Confession #2: I don’t do ménage either. At least I THOUGHT I didn’t. But let’s face it, as Daniel aptly puts it, the world has changed, and so have the rules. And as the story unfolded, and I was introduced to these very different, yet equally attractive men, I started to understand how Ali could fall for them both.

Daniel is early forties, tall, tattooed and broad shouldered, with baby blues and just a touch of gray peppering his dark hair. Uh, yum! So if you like the whole older man/younger woman thing like me, there ya go.

Finn is twenty-something, blond, beautiful, and a bad-ass. He’s got soft green eyes and a take charge attitude, both in bed and out of it. He’s also a few years younger than the heroine Ali, so if you’re into the older woman/younger man scenario, you’re covered too. Something for everyone.

The sex is hot, and let me just clarify that although this is a ménage, both men are focused solely on Ali and never on each other, if you get my drift. No man love here. Just thought I’d throw that out there, because for some, it could be a deal breaker.

As for the gore, there are some gory parts, but if you’re like me and hate horror flicks, that may just work in your favor. I found that since my mind doesn't have all these gory images lurking around in there, the bloody parts of the book ended up being somewhat whitewashed and glossed over. I’m not making any guarantees that it will be the same for anyone else, but that’s how it was for me.

So, in conclusion, whether you're into “The Walking Dead” or…not, I recommend you give this entertaining erotic romance a try.

I must start by saying that this is by far the best zombie book(s) I have read and the fact that they have an erotic element to it just makes it that much better.
They are hotter than the outback in December.

Flesh is such an appropriate title for this book. Lack thereof with the zombies roaming, and also some real steamy bits of Flesh from two hot smokin kick arse sexy survivors.

I must say the hardest part for me in this book was also two deciding which hottes I wanted most lol. Holy crap. This book was FANFREAKINGTASTIC

I've gotta be honest. I picked this up for its novelty. I've been known to like a post apocalyptic book here and there. I've enjoyed a few zombie books. Talk about nice and steamy, this story did not disappoint in that department. Unfortunately it was a bit to much at times with Daniel and Finn sharing Ali. I don't know who in the right mind would do that, even if they are living in the middle of a full infested apocalypse with zombies running around. I read these out of order, I read SKIN first and loved it, and it's not that I didn't really like FLESH , I just didn't like it as much as the other.

Ali (h) has been holed up in her old landlady's attic for about 6 weeks. Ever since the world went crazy and the infection started. Now she only leaves her safe spot when the need for food forces her to. When that time comes she has to go into abandoned stores and search for food that hasn't spoiled.

First, let me say that this is my first zombie apocalypse book and for what I think about a "zombie apocalypse" the book's plot in that capacity was better than I expected. I liked the writing style, the introduction of more characters when you don't quite know what's going on, and I liked Dan and Finn...Dan especially. A polyamory, post zombie apocalypse love story. It makes sense that in a post zombie apocalypse world, women would be rare creatures that men might fight over.

She seems ill-equipped to survive in this world and has done so mostly by luck. She has to go out to find food and that is when Daniel sees her.

He’s a big guy; way stronger than her. He has guns and an easy confidence that he can look after her. He makes the offer. She has to take it mostly because he literally hasn't let go of her since he found her. Daniel is in lust/love. He doesn't care about the difference.

But of course with his prized possession in tow, it draws more attention to them and they get attacked by a kind of bikie gang. Another guy, Finn rescues them both. Finn is very dangerous. He is a cop and seems to be military trained; he cuts throats rather than shoot guns because the noise draws the ‘moaners’ as they term them.

Daniel suggests that maybe two defenders are better than one. Ali is already heavily involved with Daniel and it’s obvious to Finn. He could have just killed Daniel himself, but he didn't. His eyes are on the prize, too and he doesn't want to spook her.

The world building is pretty sparse. There is no info other than one line about how the zombies started. But I think it works because most readers have an assumed level of knowledge about zombies and the science of the why it happened isn't relevant. Everything happens very quickly, but again, life threatening tends to speed up your decisions. You don’t have time to waste.

The action is well written, and the sex is good. The romance seems kind of missing, but I understand that, too. They just don’t have time for courtship. And if I was Ali and got offered Daniel and Finn? Heck, I’d take them.(less)

I am a hugh fan of Zomie movies. Wheather it be big box office or made for TV. I love it all. From Dawn of the Dead, Ah Zombies to The Walking Dead series on TV. So when I heard of this book I jumped at it. I went and got it and the 2nd book. I tell you I love all things zombie.

So, to explain my rating:

3.5-3.75 for the erotic romance aspect of the story. I'm a fan of menage, particularly permanent menages, and I thought it was handled well here. I would have rated higher, but I didn't think that the romantic emotional factor came across as strongly as I was hoping for. Not that I want a ton of angst, but I do want to feel a stronger emotional connection myself.

Flesh is not what I was expecting. The setting is that of a zombie apocalypse. That is what attracted me to the book. After all, 21st December 2012 was only a week or so ago. The End of the World holds a strange appeal at the moment.

This isn't what I usually read but after my recent emotionally draining reads I needed something different. Flesh takes place after zombies have taken over and people are dealing with the aftermath. They keep that to late night in the Valley and along the Mall in the City centre. (Some people may debate those points. Go for it.)
I tiptoed into the experience with a certain amount of trepidation. How do you politely tell someone you've actually met, your book was um...*searches for euphemisms* quite interesting.
I wonder if Kylie Scott sensed this ambivalence. Because what happened when I started reading? She grabbed me by the scruffed up shirt with both hands and sucked me right in.
In moments I was inside Ali's life, experiencing the brain-numbing fear of being infected by the tragically grim citizens of Brisbane. The emotional see-saw of meeting someone else not infected but too afraid to trust had me engaged instantly. Because we know that just because you aren't a zombie doesn't necessarily make you a good guy. Hold that thought for later.
Meeting Daniel is where we find Ali. This is the start of Ali's new life because she's just been holed up in a ceiling for the last couple of months. Zombies can't climb. Another useful tip for the zombie apocalypse.
The world building is well done. It is familiar but different. Ordinary, unspectacular. Yet now we look at it differently. How much cover is there? Will we find food and water? Can it be zombie-proofed.
The characters are complex. This is no two dimensional gore-fest with a smokin' hero and a token sex object.
Which brings us to Finn. Did I mention smokin'. Ali ends up with two protectors. After all you need someone to watch your back. And your front. Yes... Hold that thought.
The relationships between the three protagonists are what make this book so very captivating. Ali is very real with all the insecurities of a woman who's been hurt in the past. And so are the two very different men in her life. Daniel is mature, laid back and almost paternal at times in his relationship with the other two. He is also a very good lover. After all in a zombie apocalypse there is naturally going to be the need to re-establish the human genome. Finn is younger, an uptight former cop and very useful with his tools. A killing machine. Handy. *pauses to think about that*
This book admittedly took me out of my comfort zone, not so much with the zombies but with the clearly erotic nature of the menage. The sex scenes were beautifully written even if the language was more earthy than I'm used to. Hey I'm a Mills & Boon girl from way back.
I didn't want to put this book down (euphemism for turning off the computer as I have it in eBook). The writing is smooth and though I vaguely recall a typo somewhere, the presentation is also very good. I loved the characters, the premise was very well executed. I would read more of Kylie Scott's work.(less)

But the genius lies in the characters. These are grown ups. Their thoughts, actions and reactions are utterly believable and natural because they are adults behaving just as you imagine you might if in their situation. And this isn’t gender specific either. I could easily relate to Dan’s giddy delight after being alone for 6 weeks saying not a word to another person and suddenly finding Ali – not only uninfected but an attractive (although at this stage extremely smelly) woman. I could imagine being Finn, a policeman in his late 20s, frustrated that Dan was with Ali, trying to be fair when he was so driven to want her for himself. But above all I could be Ali. Ali who had killed her infected neighbour, survived by hiding in an attic for six weeks and was aware of the risk to herself not only from zombies but from men simply wanting to possess her. To move from simply surviving to being safe enough to decide what she actually wanted from life was a huge step and I was with her emotionally the entire way.

These three very different people come together to ally against the dangers they face. Surrounded by such danger it is inevitable that sex becomes an affirmation of who they are, and while the sex is wonderfully erotic, it is also believable and intense and happy.

While there are moments of tragedy and intensity, there is also a delightful lightness, largely through the irrepressible Dan. Dear me but I want a Dan of my own! He can be tough when needed, is sexy as sin and at 41 is old enough to deal with both relationships and adversity with a mixture of fortitude and humour. Whew, he’s it for me!

“Dan.” Ali scowled, wrestled back her hands and set them by his head. She bent over him, careful not to let her knees nudge his sides. “Why can’t you give me a straight answer?”
“Why can’t you ride me like a pony?” he scowled straight back at her unrepentant. “Don’t pretty girls like ponies? I thought they did.”

(No matter how many times I read this I still chortle!)

Kylie Scott has an amazingly light touch.

The setting is sketched in. The book is set in Australia, but parochial references and Australian idiom is kept to a bare minimum so that this story could be just as easily be in America or Canada. She outlines the backstory so that we know what has happened but without the heavy narrative so often seen by authors in love with their world building. The world is there, but it is the dangerous and forbidding context against which our main characters meet and interact.

Flesh is a fast paced thriller, a stunningly sensual feast and a funny, tragic, horrifying emotional journey in a world torn apart. It’s erotic, it’s got zombies, and it’s fun.

This is an easy review for me....crazy weird and definitely an interesting paranormal erotica book. I wasn't prepared for some of the stuff that came up in this story and mostly didn't buy it. I know it's a paranormal post-apocalyptic world so basically anything goes, but these characters are still human! The characters' responses to situations in this story were anything but predictable. Not only do I understand it, but I am totally and completely for it. I don't doubt that they all 3 know going in what it is, and their feelings are all 100% real. Not only companionship and some socialization that wont eat them and turn them into zombies, but they have trust, caring, and love. Love, that was the biggest thing driving the men, at least in my opinion. Both feel deeply for Ali. I don't even think it's because she was the first female that they had both found in months, there is something very lovable about Ali. She comes across as needing the protector, the white knight, but deep down that girl is a fighter. Just. What. They. Need. Both Daniel and Finn are perfect alone as heros, but together they are something to pant over. I think they really balanced each other out perfectly. Daniel was all big bad and tough, full of love and willing to lay the world (er...whats left of it) at Ali's feet. He is willing to do ANYTHING it takes to keep her safe and protected. Even sharing her love. What I loved the most about him was his humor. My lord he was funny. Just what she needed, when she needed it. Tough and fighting, but helping her come back to the land of living with his humor and love. Finn was his total opposite. I was fascinated that Finn being the younger of the two men was the most jaded. But, I guess that makes sense being that he was the ex-cop badass. He was the instant protector...never questioning that he needed to protect Ali, even full of lust he was respectful of the relationship that Ali and Daniel had. But, whoa boy that was hell of some sparking chemistry they had. I loved it!

It was so fun watching the relationship of Ali and Daniel and Ali and Fin AND Ali, Daniel and Finn play out. It was believable...at least as believable as it can be running from Zombies and possessed dogs!

NOW, now that I have rambled on and on about the heros and heroine, lets talk about those zombies! I am not a fan of that particular topic. I don't really care for it or hate it, I just don't understand the draw of the post-apocalyptic, zombies going to eat me, fight for life thing. That being said, I loved this book and I loved the whole zombie thing. Go figure right? I this that Scott did a brilliant job a juggling the mix of love story and fight for your life. There really wasn't a huge focus on the zombies, I mean they were there but they didn't overshadow the story. Every scene they were in I found myself about to flip my shit and full of anxiety. LOL, love books that make me freak and FEEL!

Hands down...loved this book. I can't wait to read more in this series...fingers crossed for more of this amazing threesome!(less)

I did not expect to enjoy FLESH as much as I did. Especially since, at this reading, FLESH only has mid range rating. I've found goodreads to be pretty accurate when it comes to scores. But there's always the exception.

What I loved...good writing. Story had good pacing, multiple POV, drew me in, felt real, WAS NOT disjointed, didn't have cheesy lines. Thank you Kylie Scott.

I heard about this book from a friend. She knows my love for Zombies and love stories and thought I would enjoy to read it. I figured that I watch The Walking Dead so it would be much like an episode of that.

Loved this book. Read it in one sitting and didn't want it to end.

I don't usually read post-zombie apocalypse stories, but the lure of good smut made me give this one a go. And boy am I glad I did. This book exceeded every single expectation I had going in. Exceeded them and ran away with them.

Ok I can honestly say this is not my kind of erotica. I just did not get into it. I mean I loved Daniel and his scenes always made me smile but I like possessive alpha male types so that’s nothing new :)

I was looking for something different. With Flesh, I was getting some hot steamy sex along and a story with a post-apocalyptic twist. I thought, "why not?". Zombies, aliens or ghosts are usually NOT my thing. Like I said though, I was in the mood for something different and my husband has me hooked on AMC's "The Walking Dead" series...so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

So, Ali and Daniel meet by happenstance, since they seem to be the only ones left after the world has gone to complete turmoil. A...more I was looking for something different. Like I said though, I was in the mood for something different and my husband has me hooked on AMC's "The Walking Dead" series...so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

So, Ali and Daniel meet by happenstance, since they seem to be the only ones left after the world has gone to complete turmoil. Ali has been holed up in an attic for about two months. She's scared, hungry, guarded, scarred -- ya know, basically an emotional wreck. She even refers to herself as a "scared little rabbit" quite often. You see where I'm going with this, right?

Enter Daniel. He is big, hot, hard and ....well, horny. C'mon people, he hasn't seen many "uninfected" people in the last two months...much less a sexy little thing like Ali. He's a bit older than her too. He wants her. He decides she will become his. He doesn't decide this in an alpha male sexy type of way...more of a creepy, WAAAY too forward and strong type of way. I had to keep reminding myself that given their 'situation', people may act a little out-of-character, so to speak. I actually ended up liking Ali and Daniel together. Daniel was sexy as hell and all about his woman.

Then they meet Finn. Oh Finn! Being in his late 20's...he's an uber hot lean, mean, killing machine. He also takes a keen liking to Ali. A love triagle you ask? Um, no. How about an equally agreed upon menage' relationship? I'll say that the sex in their 'relationship' was pretty hot...but the way it came to be and the dynamic of their entire relationship was a bit...I don't know - weird for me. I tried to keep an open mind. Things moved VERY quickly in terms of emotions. It was a narrated story, so that made it a bit harder to feel connected too. Finn and Daniel treated Ali like a child the entire book. It gave the story a weird feel. Though it made for some steamy scenes, I think things would have been better with a m/f relationship with Dan and Ali...and Mr. Finn to find his own HEA.

All in all, a decent read. Not too much in terms of zombies until the last 25% or so. Mostly about the three of them trying to survive, stay safe and deal with problems that come up. It held my interest, but won't have me running to find more post-apocalyptic erotica books anytime soon. (less)

Generally enjoyable, though I thought Dani Worth's After the Crux did a better job of setting up a believable polyamorous dystopian romance (it's also m/m/f, which has always seemed more fair to me than m/f/m, but maybe that's just me.)

The opening scenes made me a little nervous, but Dan and Ali's relationship dynamics shift enough over the course of the story that I enjoyed them together. Adding Finn to the mix seemed... pragmatic, but not terribly romantic to me. I did find it kind of irritati...more

Flesh is brilliant - and I'm no zombie fan (they scare me) but in this, the zombies are like the weather - there, mentioned but never dwelled on.

Flesh is more a book about human nature, and sex. At the end of the civilised world, Ali hid in an attic until she's found by Daniel. Daniel brings out the bravery in Ali - and he's fun, hot and macho.

Then they're saved by Finn. Human nature now comes into play. Finn's more a thinker and a planner. He's alpha too, but younger than Dan. It's interesting...more

Now it is erotica and if you blush rather easily or prefer sex between characters to be handled off page, then you probably won’t enjoy Flesh. Though you could just read the action scenes.

Scott’s a fan of B grade horror movies so I was expecting something a little more camp. The background is light, but has an Australian flavour it carries the romance and the action well. Anything more would possibly have distracted us from the aim of the novel which was to arouse and entertain. So I was pleasantly surprised at the action genre elements she presented.

There’s almost as much action as their is romance and I find myself a little surprised at how balanced the novel is. I don’t know what I was expecting, my erotica reading has been limited to short stories which regardless of whether they are considered literature or “smut” tend to be a brief set-up followed by an “action scene”.

Flesh features a good number of sex scenes, some unconventional and kinky but these are carried along by well structured action story and some decent emotional characterisations.

My one concern throughout the novel was that Ali was a bit passive. There is character growth though and the relationship between her, Finn and Daniel is fairly even by the end.

It was fun, eminently readable ( I could not get past the first paragraph of Fifty Shades) and I must admit that I will be interested in the follow up novel – for the characters of course.

In all seriousness, it’s a good blend of erotica, action and romance. The romance tag might put male readers off, but I’d say they’d be missing out.
