THE END.
description

AMAZING. AMAZING. AMAZING.

Kimmie is such a lovely character. Finds out she has a father after 18 years of her life is definitely not something easy and Kimmie wants her daddy back. So it was simple, she's going to meet her father and spend summer before collage with him. Oh, but life had another plan, so he mixed Mason in the story.

Lovely story about two individuals who at first try to fight their feelings, but as always love beats everything.

Just perfect, my feelings are very tangled u...more

Well, it's safe to say that Tiffany King has done it again! Tiffany is such a sneaky lil writer too…she knows just how to get under your skin without you even realizing it. You are just rolling along enjoying a Unlikely Allies and then BAM! you are staying up waaayyyy past your bedtime leaving tear stains on your kindle as you devour the final pages. (I even had to re-read the ending just to be sure it really happened, which then made me cry AGAIN.)

I adore Tiffany King. As a person, and as an author, so I had a good idea going in that I would enjoy this book. But I wasn’t prepared for just how addictive Unlikely Allies turned out to be.

This book kept me walking on the treadmill for a lot longer than I had planned (double win), and staying up way too late at night to squeeze in a few more chapters before finally crashing and dreaming of mountains and trees and hot, arrogant men.

Yes, my subconscious aged Mason to a more acceptable age for a...more

I've been a Tiffany King fan since Meant to Be, so naturally I had to get my hands on Unlikely Allies as soon as possible. I finished it the same day I received it. It was that good, on par with the rest of her novels if not even better!

Eighteen-year-old protagonist Kimberly has never know a thing about her presumably deceased father--that is, until the day her mother informs her that he is alive and just as much unaware of her existence. This incites a whirlwind of activity for an angry Kimberl...more

This book is extremely inspiring. It tells a story about a girl tranforming in a woman with so much strength you can feel it, Kimberly grows so much in the short time it takes to read this book. You can't help but love all of the characters as friends. It takes a bit for Mason to become someone you like. But once he opens up in this book you cant help but fall in love with him through Kimberly. I recommend this book to all ages, fantasic story!!!

I loved it!
Loved every character in this book, Mason was so Greeky! And Kim is a bad ass chic ( ok not the way you imagine but still...)
It's a story about changes, adapting and forgiving!

There were portions were I was biting my nails because I dreaded to see what would happen and I think the ending was perfect!

Read it!!!

Weird, but good. I don't even know what to say it was short but fast paced but dragged and did a full circle lol. I was able to read it in a day so if you want something just to get your reading in go for it.
I don't even know what to say about the story without ruining whatever the story is. Kim's mom has lied to her for 18 years saying her dad wanted nothing to do with her but he actually never knew she existed. When her mom finally tells them Rick her dad asks her to come visit him, she does...more

THIS IS A GOOD YOUNG ADULT BOOK! I'm in love! Already picture a movie in my head!

Kimberly's an average California girl who thought that her father's leaving her behind because he's not man enough to take care of her and her mom. But right after her eighteenth birthday, her mom told her the real deal: her father didn't she was born he love her as much as every parents does.
Hurt and feeling betrayed, Kimberly goes to her father and it took her by surprise that her father owns a camp. And in that...more

This is the first book I’ve read by Tiffany King and it sure won’t be my last :)

Her last summer before she leaves for college to do art, Kimberly (Kimmie/Kimbe/Beach Bunny) finds out that her father never abandoned her as she had been told by her hardworking (but forever lying) mother, he just never knew that she existed.

Feeling betrayed Kimberly cancels all her summer plans and goes from sunny California to frosty Colorado to spend time with her newly acquired father, where she...more

I'm going to go against the norm here. This book just didn't do it for me. At all. This is the first book I've read in a very long time that I've given less than 3 stars. I am a Young Adult romance junkie AND I love story lines like the one described in the summary so my expectations were pretty high when I started this book. Uhh, well.. I finished it, but it was painful.

Why am I being so hard on this book? Well, it didn't flow very well. Or at all really. Mason was mean and snarky towards Kimmi...more

My main reason for giving not giving it 3 stars and above: it just wasn't interesting enough. not special enough. Just the usual, stereotypical romance stories which are the norm nowadays.
Why didn't I give it 1 star then? Because it carried promise. It was still okay. the author made the effort to make the heroine appear tough, badass; to make the male lead appear hot and sweet and caring and everything a teen girl would swoon for. But that's one of the problems: She made the effort. She didn't...more

Kimberly was a character that you couldn't help liking! At the beginning of the book she's put in a situation where she learns she has a father she's never known about. So what does she do? She goes to see him! If I were in her position I KNOW I would be crazy nervous. And she was too. But once her and her father meet each other the relationship they have is seriously the sweetest thing ever.

One thing I thought was super cool was that Kimberly got to help out at her Dad's summer foster camp. And...more

Unlikely Allies is a short, easy read with nothing out of ordinary writing. I don’t have anything bad to say nor do I have anything great to say about this book, I guess I am just indifferent.

Kimberly is from California and it’s the summer before she goes to college, her mom just told Kimberly who her father is. Angry Kimberly finds her dad and plans to spend her summer with him and she soon realizes her father runs a camp in the middle of woods for unfit teens. Kimberly meets Mason. Mas...more

Tiffany King is an extraordinary writer. This was my 3rd book written by her and she still amazes me.
This story revolves around a young lady ~Kimberly~ who just literally found out that she has a father that never knew about her. Angry with her mom and determined to get to know her dad she made arrangements to spend the summer with him. Kimberly who is an artist and grew up with the ocean outside her window finds herself in the mountains of Colorado with a father she knows nothing about. Mason.....more

First 35% of the book was good enough. Later than that..it was arrgghh..!!(I felt like pulling my hair out!)

Here are a few instances that did not agree with me at all:

1)There is talk of giving a 12 year old space to come to terms with a shocking and unwelcome news she's just received .Well,in my opinion, twelve year olds in such a situation need a lot of hugs and someone to hold them as they cry!

2)When the land below them give...more

Unlikely Allies is my favorite book of the summer. Hands down, without question. I can’t express with mere words just how much I love this book, nor can I tell you how much I love the author. Tiffany King has a knack for writing some of the most beautiful stories. That being said, I must tell you about her newly released book Unlikely Allies.

The book begins with Kimberly stepping off of a plane in Colorado to meet her father; a man she never knew existed, for the first time. I found myself relat...more

I received this book as an ARC for The Indie Bookshelf.

I will start out by saying the premise of this book had me hooked. I spent a few years working with disadvantaged adolescent boys, and was looking forward to that aspect of the story. Further, I like that both Kimberly and her father were upset that they didn't know about each other for Kim's whole life, and we weren't dealing with another father who simply walked out.

This book is a truly about perseverance, forgiveness, and family in all fo...more

This is not your typical YA novel. Although I wouldn't normally pick it out myself to read it, I heard great things about it and wanted to see for myself.
I read it in one sitting. It's fairly short, and Tiffany King's writing keeps you engaged the whole time.

The first half of it is great! Wonderful pace, interesting characters, great dialogue.
I especially loved Amy and Rick.

I had issues with Kim and Mason's relationship, as usually, the couple fell in love within weeks while literally exchanging...more

Earlier this year, on a whim I picked up Tiffany King's Wishing for Someday Soon. It was the first YA title I'd read, and I loved it. I was hooked. Since then I've been reading, enjoying, sucking back all the indie YA and New Adult titles I could find: authors like Jessica Park, Colleen Hoover, Jolene Perry, Steph Campbell. So, when I saw Unlikely Allies, I picked it up right away.

Unlikely Allies begins with a very pissed off Kimberly arriving in Colorado for the first time to meet her father, w...more

I recieved this book as an ARC for review for The Indie Bookshelf blog.
Let me first mention that I am not a YA reader, normally. I usually stick with contemporary romance or sometimes paranormal books. Having said that, i feel this book was very well done. Kimberly and Mason were both very likable characters and the tension between them was palpable and delicious.

I read this in just a couple of days and it was a definite page turner. I Felt so many emotions while reading that I thought it'd be f...more

When I first started reading this book, I was somewhat reluctant and doubted I would like it all that much. But a few chapters through, and I was totally loving it! One of the most beautiful books ever read! I enjoyed it so much! It made me cry, smile, giggle, chuckle, got me annoyed when either Kim or Mason acted stupidly, got me worried when they were stranded and sick during the rainstorm, got me angry and sad and annoyed when things between Kim and Mason didn't go well after the accident...

First, I want to thank Tiffany King for giving me this book to review. It was very kind of her. Second, I thought Tiffany King could not get any better as an author...well, yet again, I was WRONG!

Best Part: Mason! Mason! Mason! Boy oh Boy do I love a fictional hot boy and Tiffany King knows how to write 'em!!!! I mostly love the interaction with Mason and Kimberly. It was funny, heartfelt, aggravating and perfect for them. Also, Kimberly was amazing! Sh...more

The first thing I’d like to mention is that I waited until the morning to write this review. I wanted so badly to write it immediately after finishing the book…but I think the review would have looked like this: “HOLY F*** WHAT THE WHO AWGJADF AKDFGARGKL SHE DID WHA FDKJ KFMG OMG AMAZING…” And so on. Instead, as I do for many reviews that leave me with that reaction, I wait a few hours or overnight to absorb all of it.

I finished reading this last night and I woke up today feeling weird because I can't seem to absorb what have happened on this one. This is my first Tiffany King novel and I feel excited about it and all because the blurb looks promising and the cover has this mysterious effect on it.

I was really drawn in by the characters. There are several characters that are very much easy to love.

I was very excited about the release of this book and snapped it up as soon as it was released. I absolutely loved this book! Tiffany King is a true wordsmith and I think this may even be her most brilliant work yet. (And that is quite a statement since all her work is fantastic) The story follows a daughter, Kimberly, who finds out about a father that she had not known was even alive until she turned 18 and her mother revealed his existence. The adventure begins when she travels off to spend ti...more

Imagine you are 18, just graduated high school, and find out that your Mom has been lying to you for your ENTIRE life! This is exactly what happens to Kimberly in Unlikely Allies by Tiffany King.

Kimberly has always had a great relationship with her Mom. That is until she finds out she has lied about her father her entire life. Not only does she know she has a father, but he also wants to be a part of her life as well. She decides to leave sunny California for Colorado. Her father, Rick, runs Cam...more

God damn you Tiffany King!! Do you care that I had to get up at 4am for work today?? Nooooo...you had to make your book unputdownable.

So yeah, tantrum over. LOVED it. Loved all the characters...main, side, side side...all. Kimberly and Mason threw me at first with the hostility...I mean, obviously I knew it was coming b/c duh, I did read the synopsis...but I really wasn't sure I liked where that was going and it was harsher at times than I expected. But it resolved in a way that I was happy with...more

“I was lying on my bed, contemplating Mason's death when Amy strolled into our cabin.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

"Wondering what would cause more damage, a paint-brush in the eye or a putty knife shoved up someone's nostril," I answered, scowling at the ceiling.”

“He let out a groan and I stopped tugging at the material, thinking I had hurt him.

"Are you okay?", I asked, leaning over him.

"Could you kiss me or something so I don't feel so perverted?" he asked.

I couldn't help my laugh of relief. Still, I had to admit, the way he was looking at me was pretty hot.

"Really? Even with an exposed fracture you're thinking of something like that?" I chastised.

"It's not like everything's broke," he said, sounding mortified.”
