Ali Winters has a nice little life in Lucky Harbor, barely scraping by working in the local flower shop, and in a relationship with the good-looking town clerk Teddy. Unfortunately, things go really bad, really fast. Not only does Teddy dump her, he accuses her of stealing money from his office. Now the whole town is divided over did-she-or-didn't-she steal the money.

It Had to Be You, the latest addition to my Lucky Harbor addiction, further solidifies Jill Shalvis’ place on my list of top contemporary romance authors. Like all the books in the series, It Had to Be You is romantic, funny, and sexy, with a story that pulls you in and characters who keep you coming back for more, first page to the last.

In case you weren’t aware – Jill Shalvis is one of my all-time favorite contemporary authors. She knows how to write sexy alpha heroes that make you weak in the knees. She excels at writing funny, lighthearted, exciting, and steamy romantic contemporaries that make me excited for her next book every time. And I can always count on Miz Shalvis to put a cheesy smile on my face, make me laugh out loud, and make me happily sigh as I fall in love with her characters.

More of the same from Jill Shalvis. I really liked her stories at first, but they're all the same. I spent the first quarter of this book trying to convince myself I hadn't read it already! It's always the florist/baker/spa girl and the cop/firefighter/doctor guy, one's a commitment-phobe and/or leaving soon with a messed up past and a poor-me or guilt-ridden attitude... Yeah, I think I'm done with Lucky Harbor.

OK, I got the ARC of this book since I am a Bookaholic! I am thrilled because I love this author, love all her books and particularly love this series which is how I started reading Jill Shalvis.
So I am going to review honestly but non-spoilerish. I typically don't repeat the blurb and am not too spoilery so I may or may not update this after the book is released.

I received an ARC as part of the author´s Bookaholics Club (I know, so lucky) and a promise to review it. I was eager yet nervous to read it. And what I have to say is I pre-ordered a copy myself I loved it so much and want to do my part to keep it all going. What can I say? This was a fantastic read and everything one expects from Jill Shalvis: warm, funny, sweet...I have come to love Lucky Harbor and all the people in it, and like always, it felt like you’re part of Lucky Harbor. In the highly anticipated seventh book of the Lucky Harbor series, IT HAD TO BE YOU, Jill Shalvis brings readers a sweet, determined and independent heroine in Ali Winters. Life hasn’t been too kind to Ali in recent months. Her boyfriend is a first-class jerk, she is low on cash, and she becomes the prime suspect of a robbery case. Add to that the fact that she is nearly homeless and if she can’t find a new place soon, she will be in big trouble.
But trouble finds her instead in the form of a ho...more

I have to say that Luke will be pretty high on my list of JShalvis men that I love. Luke was equal parts gruff, sexy and sweet and affectionate. Ali was awesome in that she wasn't pitiful or wallowing in her bad luck and she rolled with the whole situation between her and Luke (until they both woke up realized what was going on between them)
As always, the seniors played a fun role in this one. I really like the 3 guys, Luke, Jack and Ben that have been introduced and am looking forward to Jac...more

I have to laugh when I realize I've only actually reviewed one book by an author I glommed onto quite awhile back. Jill Shalvis first came to my attention through her well-known (and loved) Lucky Harbor series. I really enjoyed the first book, Simply Irresistible, and proceeded to blow my way through the rest of the series. I originally thought it would be just a trilogy, but it has turned into quite the expansive series. Interestingly, the series as a whole...more

Jill Shalvis does not disappoint with this next installment in her Lucky Harbor Novel! I didn't think it was possible, but her writing just keeps getting better and better!!

I love my trips to Lucky Harbor and this was no exception. I loved Ali. She's had a difficult life. Her mom raised her and her sister alone. Mom and sis are pretty flaky, so Ali has been the practical one all her life. She came to Lucky Harbor for a fresh start. She's been working at the local florist shop, where she has lots of ideas to improve business, but her boss just isn't interested. She teaches ceramics to the local senior citizens. She's been dating a local guy and is living with him. S...more
Jill Shalvis's Lucky Harbor series is a consistently good bet for light, fun, contemporary romance. That very consistency, though, is what left me feeling a little let down by this book. All the the Lucky Harbor characters are cut from the same cloth: the women are sweet, funny, loyal, and stronger-than-they-knew even when down on their luck (and they are always down on their luck). The men are always the strong, silent type, pathologically commitment-phobic but unable to resist love when it com...more

Thank you Net Galley for a great free read.
Somehow, Jill Shalvis only now popped on my to-read list, and it has proven to be such a delightful surprise. The way I see it, this is the quintessential romance, having all it takes, and a little bit more.
It was as if reading a romance by Agatha Christie, with all the wittiness and ingeniousness of the plot, keeping us on our toes, while warming our hearts with love emerging in unexpected setting.

In theory, Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series should be an all-time favorite of mine. There's the requisite cozy and quirky small town setting, a liberal dose of humor in lieu of overwrought angst, adorable pets, and heroes who are strong and protective without being the scarily angry, controlling headcases who pass for "alphas" in many other series. So I keep trying to fall in love with these books, but am always left mysteriously underwhelmed. I think it primarily comes down to my just not connectin...more

I discovered Jill Shalvis late last year and since then, she’s become one of my favorite go-to contemporary romance authors. She writes fabulous dialogue, with fantastic sexual tension, and multifaceted characters. It Had To Be You is her latest within the Lucky Harbor series and features Ali Winters, a woman who manages to maintain a bright outlook despite the troubles that come her way.

Ali Winters came to Lucky Harbor to start over. What she got was a boyfriend who cheated before leaving, the town accusing her of being a thief, and kicked out of her home. Her only help? A sexy police detective who wants to be left alone. Luke Hanover returned to his hometown to momentarily escape a scandal. What he got was a cute brunette and a boatload of trouble. But this little fling is quickly becoming much, much more.

I’m a huge fan of small town romances and Jill Shalvis Lucky Harbor series is one of my favorites.
Ali and Luke are one of those couples you fall instantly in love with because they are so perfect for each other.
One of the things I love about this series is that while there are now nine books in the series they way that Jill has written them we aren’t overwhelmed by the past characters. We get little pieces of them because this is a small town but each set of books has it’s key characters and so...more

It Had to Be You is a great book, and I absolutely loved the characters. The main character, Ali Winters, works at a flower shop in Lucky Harbor and is dating the town clerk who everyone thinks is a great guy, Teddy. One night, Ali realizes that Teddy is cheating on her. He later dumps her in a text message and lets her know that he did not renew his lease at the house he has been renting and where she has been staying. Things only continue to get worse for Ali when Teddy accuses her of stealing...more
IT HAD TO BE YOU, is the seventh book of the Lucky Harbor series. Let me first point out that I love the Lukcy Harbor series so far, to the point that each book is on my re-read list, and that I have read them multiple times. But, that being said, a book by Jill Shalvis does not automatically mean that I'll love it, I had high expectations going into this book, and luckily Shalvis did not disappoint.

Jill Shalvis is just an author that I respect and hold all her stories dear in my heart! She delivers the best narrative.
This is such an easy read that will fulfill your heart and will have you relate to the characters. It is about my favorite town, I wish it really existed: Lucky Harbor.
The author writes on 3rd person which gave me a break on being on the thoughts of the characters. I love her style she describes things not being over the top. The sex scene gives you just the perfect ideas.

I received a free ARC because I'm a bookaholic. First of all, let me just say that I've read the entire Lucky Harbor series and LOVED them! I don't know how Jill does it?! Every couple is so distinct, you don't feel like you're reading the same story over and over again. With that said, I HATE to say this, but I felt this story was formulaic - been there, done that. I'm so sorry! It kills me to say that! But! It's a pretty darn good formula, isn't it. You will still like this book, and I just go...more
