A few friends recommended this series over and over, so after a recent surgery and long time at home without kids (yes, I am totally enjoying this recovery) I decided to give these a try. The first few pages of the first book "Darkfever" were a little annoying, with all the main character's young adult angst that she distresses about, but then the storyline and the changes she goes through more than make up for that. And I actually think the author, Karen Marie Moning, intended her to sound the More...

Don't think, read. I'll tell you how this is going to go: This is going to be a love story between you and a book. Yeah, your going to hurt when it finishes, but remember "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." - A. L. Tennyson.

The only thing I regret is that a book can never be unread, even for the sole purpose of reading it for the first time again.

* A lot of people complain about the heroine, but I don't give a sh*t. I want real people and not two dimensional cha More...

I don't normally put my 'junk food' on goodreads. Because then it starts being less 'selfishly for me' and part of work. Because as much as I enjoy reading, both literary and everything else I can get my hands on, there is also an aspect that is part of 'work' - studying what I do - live and be. (That is the thing about being a story teller, even if you're not very good at it, your brain won't start making them. So even not working is still...stories. Always. And examining how others tell storie More...

Why yes, I did read all five books in the series in a little over a week. Have a problem with it? ;-p

Supernatural urban romance seemed like a good fit for a cold winter week while I was suffering from a virus. I enjoyed it, but I thought the first book and last half of the fifth were the weakest (started a bit bland and ended a bit convoluted). If I would have had to wait for the next book, I would have hated book three. Since I didn't have months to stew about the cliffhanger, only a couple hou More...

An urban fantasy/chick lit series I actually like! I feel like these books are what Anne Bishop's should have been, and emphatically were not: full of a dark eroticism that didn't make me feel icky for having read it. The basic premise here is that the wall between the human and faery world is crumbling, and a young woman (Mac) just might have the power to stop it...but who is she really, and who is that sexy bookstore owner and what does he want? It's hard to say all the reasons I liked this bo More...

The great thing about downloading the 5 book bundle is I don't have to wait for the next book to continue. The bad thing is I didn't stop to write my thoughts down after each book. Iniitially and t/o the whole series I got a sense of deja vu, the main character Mac, reminded me a lot of Charlene Harris's Sookie, and other placese she reminded me of Buffie. Neither is a bad thing. It starts out where the main character is very naive, and unaware, and just gets better from there. Some things I fig More...

I have a hard time giving anything a 5 star review, but I think this one deserves all four and maybe an extra half. I reviewed the first book in the series and once I started the second book, I couldn't stop reading long enough to write a review for any more until I'd finished the series. I pretty much ignored my husband and toddler and a couple human necessities like eating and sleeping.

What a ride! This series was great. KMM did a fantastic job at creating the world of the fae and expounding More...

These are my favorite books of ALL time!! This is the 2nd time I've read them. I started Friday night, got a little bit of sleep. I read all day Saturday (hated interruptions like cooking dinner lol), I got 4 hours of sleep that night after being up till 3am. Then I read all day Sunday, didn't make dinner, fed everyone easy stuff, then got only 3 hrs and 40 min's of sleep. Monday, everyone went to school, hubby went to work... I read all day. You can not stop reading this story. My brain is like More...

This book is like Harry Potter meets Fifty Shades. Let me explain. First it’s a great story for my age group, readers in their twenties. So many novels are directed for young adults that it’s hard to relate to the main characters when they are 16 years old. Since it was made for an older age group the romance is steamier, which is why it reminded me of Fifty Shades of Gray. It’s a story that uncovers the mystical world with faeries that live in and disrupt the human world. There are villains and More...

I LOVE this series! A quick disclaimer though...I own and read the books individually but wanted to post a review on my blog that encompassed the whole series.

This is the story of MacKayla "Mac" Lane. Her sister, Alina, has been murdered while studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland. Unable to get satisfactory results over the phone, Mac leaves for Dublin in hopes of finding her sister's murderer.

Once in Dublin Mac starts to discover all is not as it appears. So much so that the wall separating our r More...

I have read the Fever series four times in a row. It's very difficult to put into words just how much I adore this series. They are unlike any other books I've ever read and are by far my favorite. The story grips you in such a way that you don't want to be let go. And the funny thing is, I never expected to be so enthralled by these books. It is perfection entirely. And despite that it is 'labeled' as a romance series it is truly so much more. But in the end it shouldn't matter what genre it is More...

I've reviewed and rated all the books individually (see-bellow) but I guess as a whole I'd have to rate the series 4-stars. The first book kind of starts off rough, you definitely have to get over the initial set up with these books. The protagonist 'Mac' goes through an incredible evolution throughout the series. In the first books she's a spoiled, shallow Barbie girl, and I really struggled with author Karen Marie Moning's constant descriptions about how perfect Mac looked, how sexy her outfi More...

Ok I have mixed feelings about this series...I enjoyed the first few books; however, partway though the series we took a serious left turn and I thought I somehow ended up in a Laurell K. Hamilton book (don't get me wrong I loved the first 5 or so books in the Anita Blake series, but then it was like Hamilton switched creative gears and that's unfortunately when I lost interest). There were times that I would have liked to reach into the book and slap the main character for her stupid and childi More...

Before starting this review I feel like I need to make an admission: I needed to force myself to write it.

When I started writing these reviews a few months ago I promised myself (and the lovely ladies of B4R who will take away my book privileges if I don’t post a review for the monthly reads **gasp!**) that I’d review every title, in any genre, no matter what my opinion of the read. But after nearly a month of typing something out, deleting everything, starting over (with a disappointed little More...

I loved this entire series. I loved the way the characters grew emotionally and psychologically. The plot kept me moving forward and at the same time catching me off guard and surprising me in a way that I loved. I loved how we got to see inside Mac's mind and the struggling she had to go through to become the truly strong, courageous, passionate woman in the end. I laughed and I cried with this book. There were places that made my heart raw with the emotional roller coaster that played out in t More...

Ahhh love is not a strong enough word for my feelings of this series. This is going to be short because I don't want to give anything away. So we are doing this in a list.
~This series always kept you guessing. I hate it when I can guess an ending, I hate predictability. Every time I thought I knew what was going on I was wrong. This kept you on your toes till the end.
~ I loved the characters, I loved to hate some of them.

Into paranormal romance? Looking for a 5 book series that will keep you riveted? Welcome to The Fever Series!

Moning did a great job with this series -- the story's evolution is really well thought out and I enjoyed exploring all the books. This is one of the few books I've read that delves into fae lore and I loved how Moning built out their history. There are some wonderful surprises contained in each book that kept the story ever evolving and had me guessing until the very end!

Awesome awesome awesome.. I couldn't stop reading from one book to the next to make a good review per book...but here's the gist of it as a whole

But I have to say.. Moning did an excellent job writing this. The intricate details of this book is mind blown, you follow it and you think you've figure someone/something out.. And it is but it's not and its just a mystery from beginning to end with a bit of 'ohhhhhh' revelations here and there.. This series makes u constantly think back and try to re More...

Loved this series. I read each book wanting to read the next. The twists and turns in this book, I did not see coming. I thought I had it all figured out and then NOT. Like the author says, you must get through the four books knowing that all happens for a reason. The fifth book was great. However, I felt the 'happy' ending was too rosie. I almost wanted a cliffhanger. Moning does having the Iced Series coming out but I am not so interested in the heroine. So I probably will be skipping these. U More...

Wow, quite epic...
I found it really really hard to get to like the main character, Mac, initially, and throughout the series struggled at times to maintain the hard won warm feelings for her. Normally this would've had me hating the book I was reading, but what it did was make me like the opposing characters in the book more, and want them to knock some sense into her, which would happen (only to leech away again) and I mean really knock sense into her. The roller coaster had me reading though, More...

If only there were more than 5 stars. Best series of books I have read in years. Moning's ability to captivate the reader is impressive. You will feel shame, guilt, lust and sorrow.

By the end of the first book you will be enthralled. By the second book, you will be so hungry for answers you won't be able to sleep. The third book will have you writhing from seduction. The fourth book will leave you screaming in agony and the last book...well, I am nearly done and after many sleepless nights I see More...

I thought the writing was excellent, the world unique, and the plot fantastic. Overall I found the first four books enjoyable, but I hated everything about the last book. The pacing of the series was awful, and especially bad in the last book. The series really should have been three books. It was really aggravating that no major plot points/reveals occurred until the last book, and not until the last 100 pages at that. It was as if the author was scared to let any nuggets of info go. I generally am not the type of person to write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one for the Fever series. I first read through this series last year, and it has been my obsession since. I think what makes the series great is that it encapsulated so many genres - romance, mystery, fantasy, action - and it does them all right. I like to read romance, but I do not like it when it's in your face. There was definite romance in this book, but it was subtle (in your face when it should be) enough More...

Loved the fever series. The story was good and you could see Mac growing much more powerful. The only downfall is that the author seemed to take so long to get to the point. She killed me with agitation while building the climax (shes really good at pushing you towards the edge) but then when the climax happens, its not as eventful as you would think. The ending was alright but seemed a little rushed. Other than that, the characters were lovable and not so corny. Jericho Barrons was just an awes More...

I can't believe I'm giving a paranormal romance series 5 stars but yes, it is THAT good. I got the first book in this series from the library and immediately after reading it I bought all 5 books from B & N because I could NOT WAIT for them to become available at my library. And I buy books very, very rarely because I read so many of them I'd be broke otherwise.

I really enjoyed this series for the most part. It was addicting and I couldn't put it down. I just didn't dig the ending.

I loved guessing who she was, who barrons was, and who to trust. I loved being a detective!

If I could change one thing, it would probably be that she repeated things too much. I get that it's for people to catch up, but that annoyed me :(

I have to add that I'd love to read something else this captivating though. If anyone has any suggestions..it would be greatly appreciated More...

The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

I recently flew through the Fever Series by KMM in a little under a week. The series is comprised of the following:

Darkfever
Bloodfever
Faefever
Dreamfever
Shadowfever

I LOVE this series. I want to try to be the objective, witty book reviewer here but I read these books like a woman obsessed and when I finished them I walked around in a daze for two days. That is the sign of some fantastic reading.
