Oh. My. God!!! I freaking loved this book, but only as a good friend, I'd give it TEN STARS!

Stuff I said before reading the book:

This better not ruin book one for me. (I liked this better than book 1)

This will be the first dsp book I've bought since last years Christmas antho of shitty suckage

I love the cover. Even though Declan should be bigger

I'm not sure whether Sean Kennedy intends to publish a third book, but I would pre-order it, read it on the release date and then probably rave about it just as I plan to rave about the first two books.

In fact, it doesn't even need to have a plot for all I care: I would happily read about Simon and Declan getting groceries, spending lazy Sundays together, visiting friends and weird family members and so on. They are such fantastic characters that quickly become your friends, it's impossible to...more

I'm the odd one out. Again. Because that cover is bloody ugly. It's like two mannequins holding hands. And don't get me started with their clothes.

Well. This wasn't bad but I kind of found it didn't have a raison d'etre. Not to mention how the story was totally blown out of proportion. But it was Simon and Declan—and who doesn't love them?—so I kept reading. Good to know they're doing all right.

Tigers and Devils was one of the first M/M books that I read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, Tigerland suffers from a severe case of The Redundant Sequel/Extended Epilogue Syndrome. Tigers never really needed a sequel in the first place since all the loose ends had been tied up, all the drama had been dealt with, topped off with a satisfactory HEA.

Don't get me wrong, it was nice to revisit and catch up with Simon, Declan and the rest of the gang and obviously to enjoy Simon's hilario...more

What can I say about this book! First, SIMON...oh SIMON, I don't have enough appendages to count how many ways I absolutely love him. His snark can keep me going for hours. My concern with sequels is that sometimes the voices of the MCs seem to change and it's almost a totally different couple, I am happy to report that Simon and Declan are still Simon and Declan.

The storyline was well thought out and full of character development. We still had families and friends fully integrated and I stil...more

Thank you Mr. Kennedy for another great story!

This story is very different than the first one. The MC's are in different occupations than they were before and are now a couple. The dynamics are different. Just like the beginning suggests, there is a deeper story involved than the one that appears at first sight. Very well done. As always, I loved the snark! =D
Thanks again.

Happy Reading GR.land!

Dear DSP, can you please change the cover? They're like two twinkies holding hands, while we know Declan Tyler is a hunko sexo man.
Oh, the excerpt was great tho. Can't wait!!!

Still absolutely in love with Dec, Simon and the cast of friends/family. Some big changes in this book, some hard to read, some characters missing....yet it is still the same feel. Simon is still Simon, yet more mature and has spectacular moments. Dec is the same caring, sensible guy who loves with his whole heart.

I will probably re-read this gem.

Although Tigerland is from Simon’s POV and centres around his and Declan’s trials and tribulations, it has, in many ways, an ensemble cast. The secondary characters of Fran and Roger, Abe and Lisa are exceptionally well developed. All the characters are complex individuals and very realistically drawn. They make mistakes, laugh, cry, love and muddle through life what life throws at them the best they can. And I think that’s what I love best about Sean Kennedy’s writing. The realism.

While this is a great book, one should definitely read the previous book, to be able to follow.

Declan and Simon are back! I loved the first book Tigers and Devils and these two unlikely characters, who after some ordeals did manage to stay together. In this sequel they have been together for some years and changed jobs. Declan is no longer a famous football player and neither is his best friend Abe....more

I am a huge fan of this series. I really am. One of the things that I wrote in my review of “Tigers and Devils,” is that I truly felt Simon and Declan falling in love and the same can be said for the latest installment. Sean Kennedy doesn’t just tell us these characters are in love. He shows us, we feel it in every touch, every conversation and in every single one of Simon’s thoughts. That’s what makes this a great love story...more

Loved this; if you liked the first book I definitely recommend you get this one. There's nothing to detract from the first story and a lot to be gained.

To be honest and attempt objectivity, I don't think the book is at quite the same level as the first one plot wise. There's friction between characters that never gets explained and towards the end the story feels very soap-operaish.

That said, I loved every minute of it :D

From page one it was so Simon-esque I was smiling. I felt the characters h...more

Before starting this book, I was a little bit afraid of being disappointed with it, just because I absolutely loved the first installment and I wanted this one to live up to my high expectations after such an amazing first book. Well, Tigerland didn't disappointed at all; it was everything I was expecting and more.

It was so great to revisit Simon, Declan, Lisa, Abe, Roger and Fran. I mean, who wouldn't want friends like them? Simon, especially is one of the greatest characters I have ever had th...more

I think that the 'Affair Heyward' is blowed out of proportion and the drama that ensues is quite thin to support more than 200 pages of plot, which languishes in different points. However Simon, with his good cynicism and his pop culture humour, remains one of my favourite characters, he once again manages to make me chuckle -and make me feel- through the duration of the book.
It was fun to spend some more time with these characters.

I have finished this in one sitting (or laying on my bed) from around 20:30 and finished at 1:15.

The writing flowed nicely and engaging to read. Simon was still the cynical snark that I enjoyed while Dec remained the cool-headed one.

The problem introduced here manages to last to the end of the book without making me feel that it had been unreasonably stretched.

All in all it was a very engaging read with very very funny start.

I like the feeling of togetherness of the MCs. Unlike "The Matter of Ti...more

Sean Kennedy rocks my socks....

This and the first book - Tigers and Devils are simply the most enjoyable, relatable, humourous, dramatic and REALISTIC books I think I've ever read.

Yes some of this is because the setting is actually my home city.. :) but that isn't the only reason. Seans characters are so real they use language that I know and understand and speak myself. They are flawed just like real people. They have some great depths that suddenly come out of nowhere..

The story it's self.....more

Once all the hoopla died down retired AFL player Declan Tyler and his lover Simon Murray were able to enjoy life together. Declan found a job on a popular sports commentator show as a star analyst while Simon started a new job with a small community TV station focused on the gay population.

Their relationship is everything they were hoping for; unfortunately things aren’t going so well for their nearest and dearest. Declan’s closest friend is dealing with a painful breakup and Simon’s besties are...more

5+ Kisses!!!!!

It was a pleasure to once again meet up with Declan and Simon. A pleasure because 1) Mr. Kennedy always writes them with such accuracy pertaining to true life possibilities and 2) he keeps them from ever coming close to boring!

This time we have a minor character from the previous story, Greg Heyward, following in Declan’s footsteps; or ‘trying’ to follow that is. You see, Greg is not a nice guy and Sean makes sure he leaves angst and ire where...more

Sure he's like a brother.

Sure I pushed and badgered and bullied him into writing the sequel to T&D and then on getting it published.

Sure I read the gazillion drafts of Tigerland and dropped some pearls of wisdom... when I wasn't in hospital and doped up on meds for being Teh Cray-cray.

Still, what the hell was he thinking?!

To write about a relationship which has actually moved on and grown 3 years down the track?

To continue to write about the things that can challenge relationships and friend...more

To find out a few months ago that Sean Kennedy would be writing a sequel to one of my most favorite gay novel of all time - Tigers and Devils.. well, I was excited. I loved the chemistry between Simon Murray and Declan Tyler (which I had to say that Declan Tyler had to be one of the sexiest male names I have ever come across... ). In fact, I adored the other characters in the first book. I was curious with the choice of the title for the sequel, though.. What is a Tigerland?

Sequel to Tigers and Devils, a very favorite book of mine and the book I've reread the most over these past couple of years. Does not stand alone.

I'm not a fan of romance novel sequels that follow the same couple in general, but if I did want to spend further time with any couple from any romance, Simon and Declan would rank pretty high. For most of the book, unfortunately, I still wasn't too thrilled. On one hand, I enjoyed catching up on the lives of Simon & Declan and Roger &Fran, and...more

Let me say that I was very ambivalent about this book, but that is merely because I have been craving a Tigers & Devils sequel for as long as I can remember, but suddenly it was here and I was afraid that it would ruin the experience or my love for Simon and Dec.

But I am more than relieved to say that this was fantastic and I loved every bit of it!
I love how we get to see how Simon and Dec's relationship has overcome the struggles of T&Ds and is now a solid one without as many troubles...more

This was a great story and a great sequel to Tiger and Devils, which I read a few years ago, and which I have also re-read since then. The reason I didn't buy Tigerland as soon as it was released was a few reviews saying it lacked actual plot/conflict, but after having read it myself, I do not agree. Though I would not categorize it as a romance but rather a relationship drama and as such it is excellent.

Told in first person POV, Simon's, we quickly become familiar with the Simon from the first...more

A 4.5/5 book.

I loved Tigers and Devils when I read it two days ago and literally devoured it. So I couldn't not read that one just after. It was way too tempting. I wasn't disappointed. The book was great. More rhythm than the first one. It was quite different though. But the only thing that made me stop was that I had to sleep at some point... :p

Some things souded a bit redundant with the first book but not much. You get sucked into the story quickly.

All the characters are still attaching. Tho...more

Wow. I have to say, I was more than a little apprehensive about reading this book. I thought Tigers and Devils was an amazing story and, frankly, I worried that the sequel would pale in comparison. Well, I couldn't be happier to have been so very wrong!

Wow, I just finished reading it in one sitting, although I promised myself I wouldn't...
And I loved it of course or I wouldn't review it on the same day it was released :)

I'm actually bad at writing reviews, because a good review needs some kind of organization to it, I think and I'm not really capable of that. But here are some of the things I liked the most:

- One of the first and foremost reasons I liked the book (and T&D) is the spectacular set of supporting characters. I was totally hoo...more

Oh no, it's over! :( --- I am missing this already. I thought about not finishing it just because I didn't want it to come to an end. Like, leaving it unfinished somehow would give me the feeling I was still part of their lives ;)

I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars. I really love the story, it's somewhat deep, a little out of the ordinary, and just makes you really happy for the two main characters, as well as the really great supporting cast. There are a few ups and downs here and there but mostly...more
