I have to say that I was so excited to have this book come out early (to stare at the sexy cover in my hands) and I took a few hours out of my day to read it.

What a great debut from Kendall Ryan. She brings to the table a different take on an erotic novel. Adding the psychological issue of Dissociated Amnesia to the story doesn't make it a thriller but does bring you to your seat trying to figure out what happened.

Reckless girl, I have to say – she brought home a stranger/crime suspect with no memories. The guy wasn’t maniac, thank God, but he drew sinister paintings with the crime scene and beautiful woman, unknown. He tried to remember his life but failed.

What do I think? I think it’s a genius idea to write your first book about a guy who lost his memories. I mean, it’s genius, really! You don’t have to create some psychological background for your character ‘cause he can’t have one. He’s a clean sheet of paper. You don’t have to struggle with his individuality ‘cause he hasn’t one. It was a revelation for me. 'You' is not what you love/hate at the moment – 'you' is what you have been loving/hating for all your life!

That leads me to my main question: who exactly has amnesia here: ‘Logan’ or Ashlyn? We learn a lot of different stuff about ‘Logan’. What kind of music he likes. What kind of knowledge he has. Why his life is like it is. Why he’s so lonely. What kind of relationship he had. Yeah, we learn a lot. What do we know about Ashlyn? Eeeemmmm… Ashlyn, who’s Ashlyn? It’s like she has amnesia ‘cause she feels like a clean sheet of paper. Even Liz, her friend, was better written. Liz has individuality, Ashlyn doesn’t. She’s a weak spot of the book, if you ask me.

But don’t get me wrong, I liked the book. The plot is quite unconventional. The sex scenes are hawt! I didn’t have any problems with ‘telling but not showing’. Really, I didn’t notice that. The story is organic, harmonious. There’s a climax and drama doesn’t look far-fetched. However, I find the atmosphere of the book kinda YA. Can’t explain it. Maybe, that’s because of the decisions made by the heroes. Maybe that’s because they are young so the book should have YA-taste. I wanted them to be a bit mature. I’m bore, I know ;)(less)

Unravel Me is very interesting book with original and excellent storyline which I highly recommend to all adult romance readers. I was excited about this book since the moment I read the blurb days ago and when I finally read it I was not disappointed. Author succeded in creating intriguing atmospehere with plenty of suspence and while reading this book, I had absolutely no idea how it would all end. And I really love such unexpected stories.

OMG....I just finished this book and all I can say is it was INCREDIBLE!!!! I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down, I read it in 1 day!!!! I was entranced from the very beginning. There was enough mystery and intrigue to keep me reading all the way to the end. Plus the sex scenes in this book had my panties melting. I hadn’t allowed myself to become attracted to him. I had no say in the matter. It was simple chemistry. A primal attraction that couldn’t be controlled, or turned off simply because I willed it.

Unravel Me is one of those stories that’s not perfect, but you like it anyhow for pure entertainment purposes. It had loads of sizzling chemistry! The main characters were drawn together like magnets, in spite of the inappropriateness of their relationship. Even I could feel the draw and it was HOT!

I hate giving poor reviews, but this book really didn't do it for me. The premise was interesting and I had reasonably high expectations going into the book. However, this book turned out to be a huge disappointment.

(1) The timeline made no sense. NONE! Were weeks going by? Months? I have no clue.
(2) She fast forwarded through the first few weeks (at least I think it was a few weeks) of the main characters' friendship, so it's impossible to see how their feelings developed for one another. We're just TOLD that they have this connection, instead of getting to witness it for ourselves. This is a huge pet peeve of mine.
(3) People who are homeless and don't have even a single change of clothes do not smell like AFTERSHAVE!! The heroine even lists the hero's meager belongings, and aftershave is not among them. I think the author did this to build up the illusion that he looked like a walking cologne ad.
(4) She kept referring to a thesis and a thesis proposal as the same thing. They're not the same thing and it's impossible to finish a Phd thesis and have it published in just a few weeks...which is what apparently happened.

I could continue to list more inconsistencies and errors in this book, but I'll stop myself now.

Well, at least the sex scenes were hot, albeit they were too short for me to consider this to be an erotic story. Apparently the guy is packing a python in his pants. I guess that's the only saving grace of this story. I do not recommend it to readers unless you enjoy being TOLD what to feel by an author. I developed no attachment to the characters and the ending made no sense to me. (view spoiler) I've read erotic short stories before where the story is just window dressing between sex scenes, but this book wasn't erotic, so I don't think the author is allowed the same liberties. I think she has the potential for a really great story here if she could just flesh things out a bit more. (view spoiler)

After some more reflection, I do really think the author has a lot of potential, since the premise really is quite clever and she does write great steamy scenes. Even though I didn't like this book too much, I would try reading something else she writes in the future. I just hope she doesn't rush things next time! Please take the time to develop the characters! (less)

Secondly, the premise of this book sounded so cool. A Psychology student looking for a thesis subject who gets a chance to observe and interview an amnesia patient who is accused of murder… they are drawn together and even while carrying on a sexual relationship they try to unravel his past. HELLO, doesn’t that just sound awesome? I just wish the promise of it could have carried through to the story.

My main issue is with the heroine, Ashlyn. I really did not like her. At all. She got on my nerves with her stupid decisions and wishy washiness. Before she even meets Logan, the amnesia patient, she is given his circumstances, which include him being found at an abandoned warehouse standing over a man who had been beaten to death AND that he has attacked an orderly already. So what does she do? This super smart graduate student who is working toward her PhD tells the Doctor treating this patient that she wants to be in the room with him alone, because you know, she can take care of herself. Okayyyyy. Then after that too stupid to live decision, after discovering he is lying there all NAKED with just a sheet covering his groin, she tells the orderly who enters the room to uncuff him. So now she is alone in a room with a uncuffed man who all she knows about is that he can’t remember any of his past, was found standing over a man who the cops assume he beat to death and has already been violent while being in the hospital. That was the start of what was an extremely frustrating read for me.

The whole getting to know you part of the book, while she is visiting Logan in the hospital, is kind of just alluded to. You don’t actually get to see any interaction between them. Then one day she is coming home to change to go out and she kind of runs into Logan on the street. He has been cleared of all charges and has checked himself out of the hospital. So what does this smart cookie do? Hmmm? She invites him up to her pad to stay with her. She then throws herself at him repeatedly, they tell each other they “can’t” get involved, they contradict each other, Ashlyn gets drunk and tries to stick her hand down his pants. About six thousand times. Eventually they have sex. It’s really, really good sex because Logan has a huge peen and they can’t keep their hands off each other. That’s about it. I really didn’t feel any emotion from them for each other. I didn’t connect to either character. I felt like the author was telling me how they felt for each other, but I never actually believed it.

I think if more of the story had taken place in the hospital, if we had been able to witness them falling for each other and how that happened, maybe their relationship would have been more believable to me. The first person POV didn’t do it for me either. I didn’t care for Ashlyn, so having the entire story come from her point of view really didn’t work for me. I also went into this thinking this was an erotic contemporary romance, I didn’t see this as erotica. They have sex several times, but not to the point that it was an erotic romance. I see that there are quite a few other people who really loved this story. Lots of four and five stars. It just didn’t live up to my expectations.

It was a shame because I wanted to go in deep. It had so much potential. But although it bothered me a bit, I could deal with it. But what really bothered me here was the beginning.
The thing is, I don’t wanna be told how things happened, I want to see how it happened. I wanted to see how they started to like, trust and depend on each other. I didn’t want to see they meeting for the first time and in the next chapter seeing them as best friends. I really don’t like when this happens, because that’s how we connect with the characters and the story. I felt connected with them, but not as much as I think I could have if Ryan had written about it. I get that Ryan must have thought it would be boring or even too long, but it’s better to take the risk. At least you’ll have a book well developed.
So, this is a good book but it could have been better.

This is a story about Ashylin. She’s a 24 years old P.h.D student and she’s writing her amnesia thesis and one day her professor tells her about a guy who could possibly be her test subject. He’s John/Logan a twenty something guy who has amnesia, he doesn’t remember anything about his life, not even his name. He’s in the hospital and also being held as a prisoner for a murderer he doesn’t remember as well. They met and they feel a strong connection between them. She wants to help him, and because of that she starts to blur the professionalism lines between patient and “doctor”. He fells lonely and lost and so he starts to depend on her and soon they develop a strong friendship. He wants to find out about who he is and also what it means his weird tattoos.
So the thing is what are they going to find out? Why he was found in a murderer scene? Who is this Logan person tattooed in his body? So many questions and can they be together after what they’re going to find out about him?

Logan is kind, sweet, possessive, ambitious, hard working and oh so handsome.

Ashlyin is a bit lonely, and very dedicated about her profession, I mean she’s already a P.h.D student at the age of 24. But she knows what she wants in life and she fights for it. She also trusts a lot in her instincts. She doesn’t hold back at all.

I liked the story, so I didn’t know how to rate this, but I think 4 starts would be too much compared to the books I gave this rate. So I’ll stick with 3. But don’t feel disappointed, it is good. I would still read this book for sure. I just wanted more. Maybe the problem is with me… I like too much drama and I wanted it more. So who knows?!

Not going to lie, I almost peed myself, I was so excited. The cover alone had me excited, and then you throw in the blurb, and I was done for! I had to see what this was all about! And boy, was it everything and more! I won’t give away really anything, because, like most books I think they need to be experienced first hand, and not through someone’s review. All I can do is push you in the right direction. So this is me pushing…puuusssshhhh. Move this up your TBR list and be ready for October 1.

Ashlyn Drake is PhD student working on her final thesis – on associative amnesia disorder; AKA, she’s a huge smarty pants. She focuses on school, and school alone. She doesn’t have time for relationships and the work they involve. She’s got a B.O.B. (look it up if you don’t know) that takes care of her when she needs it… ahem. Her professor connects her with “John Doe” who’s currently handcuffed to a bed, being held for murder, with absolutely no memory at all of who he is, why he’s there or how he got there. Ashlyn is going to study him for her thesis. She soon figures out, though, there’s more to just her studying him. Like an actual attraction. She’s drawn to want to help “Logan” uncover his past and find out who he was/is. She’s just not sure if she’ll like the answer.

Logan with no memory of his own life was teaching me how to live in the moment and enjoy what you had.

This book was HOT! Like scorching. The chemistry between “Logan” and Ashlyn was undeniable and I loved the tension that this caused as they tried to fight their feelings for one another. Once they stopped fighting those, though, look out world! “Logan” might have amnesia, but he did NOT forget how to do THAT! Damn!

This book had the perfect mix of tension/angst, love and heat. You got it all. Logan is an alpha male, but I love how guarded he is with Ashlyn’s heart. She’s a chick that knows what she wants though, no matter if she’s supposed to. Their connection was palpable. I loved it. I was digging Ashlyn’s friend, Liz, too. I loved their honesty and their realness with one another. And of course, Liz’s loyalty. She’s a true best friend. How about a spin off, eh?! :)

I give this book 4.5 stars (would’ve been a 5 but I wanted MORE) and recommend it anyone looking for an erotic contemporary romance with a dramatic edge. You’ll fall in love with the main and supporting characters so much. Ms. Ryan does a fantastic job of sucking you in with her dramatic prose, and heart-stopping sexiness. Added bonus: takes place in Chicago, and living there years ago, and being just an hour outside there now makes me feel that more connected to the story! I could visualize the actual places and that helped familiarize myself with the atmosphere of the story that much more. This book is a definite must-read so move it up your TBR today!(less)

First, let me say I got the whole instant attraction thing. I could just picture "Logan" laying there all hot, sexy and venerable. Yummy!

I enjoyed this read, so don't let the rating sway you. At least not for me. I just couldn't justify rating higher when I compared other reads I have given 4/5 stars to. This book had a lot of potential, there are some pretty good ideas, but IMO the problem is- they aren't well-written and lacked imagination, but I think that the author has potential to improve considering that this is her first book. There is just something missing, some parts felt unfinished and left unsaid, especially when it comes to the background of the main characters. I felt that we were given only pieces, but mostly left in the dark about some important information, considering both plot and characters.

The beginning was kind of shaky. It has lots of ups and downs and lots of me *eye-rolling* at some parts which I consider totally unnecessary and illogical and there were some grammar and plot mistakes.

“I trust you.” “If you knew what I thought about….you wouldn't trust me.” My heart strummed in my chest. “What do you think about?” “All the things I want to do to you, but can’t.”

What really bothered me was the lack of character development, especially the main female character Ashlyn. She started off as a strong and intelligent young woman, but as the story progressed she turned out to be just the opposite and her behavior really started to annoy me in the second half of the book.

Even the main male character Aiden didn't impress me that much except, of course, his physical appearance. I could understand his worries and insecurities, because he had amnesia, but at some point it just felt that he was manipulating and using her and he was using his state to cover that and what really annoyed me is that she let him do that with no objections. I'm just not a fan of weak,naive and immature characters with no attitude. I mean, who is?

There were some interesting and fun parts that I enjoyed and the hot scenes weren't that bad, but as I said they need improvement. I considered giving it 3 stars, but the ending of the book which again felt rushed and left many things undone decided it for me.
I think that this book would appeal to readers who are beginners when it comes to this genre and who don't spend much time reading as I do. Considering all the great books I read so far I can't give it more than 2/2.5 stars.

I knew him better than anyone. I knew he was kind, and sweet, and hard working. And that he liked steamed milk in his coffee and that if I was ever in a trivia game involving history questions, I’d make damn sure he was on my team. I knew that he made me incredibly hot, and nothing would change my mind about wanting to be with him.(less)

I liked the fact that the character was a student and I liked the mystery of the man she falls in love with. I was looking forward to seeing them figuring out who he was in his past life. Some parts of the story felt like they were moving too fast. I also felt like there was less mystery in it than I hoped for. There were also some parts that I didn’t like. But all in all I enjoyed the story, I liked reading a romance book with sex and a story. Although I do have to say that there was less story than I expected, there was still enough of a story to keep me interested.

At the beginning we miss a too big part of their beginning relationsh, because a huge part of this is summarized, I was dissapointed by this. I wanted to experience this part and see how they got to know each other. And I think theu author could've explained this in more depth.

The characters are actually not developed that well. I did like Ashlyn and the man she falls in love with, but I felt like there was so much we didn’t knew. Also there were times that Ashlyn described herself in a certain way, but her behavior was totally different. I think it would’ve been better if we had gotten to know Ashlyn how she was before she met him. I also think that sometimes the characters acted a bit unbelievable, of course I don’t know how a real amnesia patient behaves, but I have the feeling they would be clinging to everything that was familiar. And the side characters mostly felt like they were there to fill up the story, except for Liz, she actually played a part and we got a feel for her personality.

I did was a bit disappointed when we finally found out what this man’s past is. I had expected more mystery and then remembering small parts and struggling to remember more. But it was different and I just missed a bit of the mystery that I had expected.

To conclude: I enjoyed reading this book, but felt like some parts where a bit too fast paced and although the story was short it was the right size to tell the story. I liked the main characters, although sometimes they acted a bit unbelievable and the side characters were mostly used to fill up the story. I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to people who love a good story and some hot romance.(less)

Shelves: disappointing

Am I the only one who felt as though Ashlyn was manipulating Logan? Especially when he was slowly finding out who he is. Ashlyn would get upset with Logan when he was only trying to find answers.
I feel like she totally took advantage of him and for him to go back to her after everything was said and done, he deserved so much better.

I really enjoyed Kendall Ryan's writing style; it was smooth and, at times, witty. The characters were well-developed and the story so intense that I wasn't ready for it to end.

Ashlyn seems to live a pretty boring life up until the point she meets "Logan". In my opinion, she has tried so hard to not be her father, she stopped living life to the fullest. Yes, she is a smart girl who will soon have a doctorate but the girl seriously needs to put the fun back in her personal life. I liked her independence and even though her childhood sounded less than ideal, she wasn't overly damaged or needy. She seemed more than willing to accept any love she was given but wasn't always assertive enough to take what she needed.

"Logan" is sweet, gentle and caring but he also has alpha tendencies. Let me be honest here..I love when a man is jealous without being JEALOUS and that is what he was. He could take control of things but he always put Ashlyn's feelings before his own which made him even more appealing. I can't imagine how scary it would be to one day not know my name or anything about my past. It was obvious that this was eating him up and his uncertainty left him feeling unworthy of Ashlyn and his feelings for her. Did he really kill someone? Did he have a family he couldn't remember? Really, would he ever be able to remember is past and, if he did, what would it do to his friendship and feelings for Ashlyn.

There was so much passion between the two and one may be inclined to say that "Logan" was drawn to Ashlyn because she was kind to him when everyone else saw him as a criminal but I did not lose sight on what a great human being "Logan" was. Even if he was not a great person pre-amnesia (I am not saying he was or wasn't:)), he is completely swoon-worthy now! Ashlyn didn't seem to have many friends outside of her best friend, Liz, and I think these were two lonely individuals who fit together perfectly, amnesia or no amnesia!

This book certainly had some surprises! Just when I thought a piece of the mystery that was "Logan" had been put into place, there would be another twist. If I could change one thing, I would make the book a little longer and expand on certain areas like "Logan's" time in the hospital and other parts that I won't specify because I don't want to let the cat out of the bag! Kendall Ryan is a great writer and if I could have just held onto the various emotions that went through the characters and then to me, this probably would have been an easy five. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

Overall, this is a great book for anyone looking for a distinctly different story line that features some mystery, crazy hot chemistry and a man who will make you drool!

This book has many mixed reviews and I have to say that I really liked it. The idea of the story is brilliant and unique, I couldn't wait to read it.

Oh where to start?

I think it's fair to say that I am already addicted to Kendall Ryan's writing. For a debut novel this book is superb!

The pull I felt between Ashyln and "Logan" was extremely passionate. Hell everything about them two together was passionate. I love a book that has a well written Alpha Male who has a gentle and sweet side.
