For a first novel, this book is extremely well-written with very well-defined characters. Even though, as the author points out in his final comments, this is complete fiction, it still describes the mind-set of corporate upper echelon individuals in a very incisive way. Fat Profits is a well written book on corporate greed and the extents that big business will go to increase their coffers. I lost count somewhere along the read with how many people were killed off, paid off, and injured just to get one "food" product line put out to temp people who believe the advertising. I know this book is written as fiction; but it is so true!

I loved the message the author incorporates into his all-too-real thriller: industrialized/manufactured 'food' equals big profits so beware, beware, beware! This was the perfect novel to read after finishing Pollen's 'In Defense of Food'. I now feel well-educated and my grocery shopping has done a complete 180 to say the least!
