Having heard such great things about Jolene Perry's books I jumped at the chance to read one of them. Although it's funny that it's the cover for book 2 that initially attracted me to it. While this one is nice, the sequel's cover is so pretteh! As for the book, overall I thought it was a pretty fun read, though some aspects of it definitely stopped me from loving it.
The most prominent of these aspects is the forced nature, or stiffness, from the characters and events. It's hard to even pinpoin More...

The shadows will travel the earth looking for their gifted descendants to take them into their world…
Insight is a beautiful novel about falling in love, but also has a fantastic paranormal storyline. But, what I loved most about this novel was Micah and Landon’s relationship. I fell in love with these two eighteen year olds while they were falling in love with each other. Micah has never told anyone about her gets flashes of insight into people’s lives when she bumps or touches a person. I liked More...

Micah has the ability to see and feel things with a touch. It is an ability that she hates but she cannot control what she does. She has no hold whether what she shes is a past or future incident which makes it even worse for Micah. This is the reason why she wants to be left alone - until Landon.
Insight is a story focused on Micah and Landon on how they discover each others weakness and strength together. Micah is your typical teenager with a special gift. It sucks the life out of her and she h More...

Thanks to Goodreads First Reads and Jolene Perry for a copy of Insight.
This book is written from Micah's first person point of view. She sees things whenever she touches someone. Or merely bumps into someone. It could be a past event, a future event, or an event in the present. And it obviously troubles high school senior Micah. Not only does she have to cope with her visions, but moving to a new school at her and her mom's new place means plenty more people and more visions to try to avoid. Whe More...

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. I read it every free chance I had. I found Insight to be exciting and different.
I would not want to be Micah. I cannot imagine having to go through what she goes through every time she touches someone. That would be so difficult, especially when she didn't know what she was seeing - whether it was a current event, something from the person's past, or something that was going to occur in the future. Once she figured out what she was seeing, I couldn't More...

Occasionally, I stumble across a book that I have so many good things to say about, I can't get the right words out. This is one of those books.
It's different from Jolene's usual style, and yet somehow still so uniquely her.
Micah is a fantastic character, living her life trying to avoid touching anyone around her because of her visions - but then she meets Landon. I didn't fall for him quite as fast as Micah did, but by the end, I was completely smitten.

As seen on Ed and Em's Reviews!
3.5 Stars
Insight is the first book in the Shadows series and what a start it was!
Before picking up Insight, I had never read a book by Jolene Perry. Many of my friends had recommended her work, though, so when I saw openings for a blog tour, I immediately signed up. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I'm glad I did. Even with the few issues I had with the story here and there, I was surprised by how much I truly enjoyed reading the novel. I flew through this book - so fast that I barely even marked status updates on Goodreads. Except for when I was sobbing. (I get overly attached to good stories, can you tell?)
Micah’s gift is what first got my attention. I tried to think about it, but I don’t think I’ve read anything featuring a “power” or “gift” that works quite the same way Micah’s does. It’s one thing to see glimpses of premonition when you touch someone – but to not know whether it’s past or fut More...

First I have to say that Jolene Perry is BRILLIANT! I absolutely loved Insight. It is the first story in the trilogy and I have to say that I have never ever read a book that has gripped me so much that I was yelling at the kindle and having a conversation with myself. The world created by Jolene is one where things are not always as they seem and people or things are lurking in the background and causing disturbances. Can you imagine when you touch people you can see any part of their life. You More...

Micah gets flashes when she touches people. They can be past, present, or future. A very short yet usually intense glimpse into a major event that she both sees and feels. This has caused her to shy away from people and hate to make any contact. She has never told anyone about it. When she touches Landon, she sees herself, and feels his like and happiness. Her mom and dad are both moving on and have new love interests. Can Micah over overcome her fear and get close to someone?

This book was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I have heard so many great things about Jolene Perry, so I was so excited to start this book. It has such an amazing premise, and I adored the cute romance!
Micah can see into someone’s future or past just by touching them. She feels this ability is a burden and a curse, especially when she feels guilty over the death of a classmate. For this reason, she keeps people at an arm’s length and never lets anyone get close to her, More...

A review copy was provided for an honest review. Insight is enjoyable, entertaining, and an intriguing read. I found myself pulled in instantaneously and really wanted to unravel the mystery behind Micah's gift. Most of the characters were very likeable especially Micah's mom and Landon. Micah is a complex heroine with a unique gift that isolates her from everyone else. She's intelligent, brave, and guarded with a lot of angst. Insight's undertones are a little dark but that's hardly a deterrent More...

MY REVIEW
I was given this book, free of charge by the Author via YA Bound Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.
I like the cover, obviously like the majority of covers it makes more even sense when you have read the book. The female on the cover is the teenaged main character, Micah. Micah is blessed, or as she sometimes thinks cursed with a special ability. The smokiness coming from Micah's eye is to represent that she "sees" things. The image and colours on the cover makes me think of wo More...

I received Insight as part of the tour hosted by YA Bound in return for an honest review. Micah isn't your typical teenage girl who’s about to graduate from high school. She’s gifted with the ability to see bits and pieces from their lives as well as how they feel when she touches people. Since she doesn't want to see visions so has in the past attempted to appear invisible, however when her mom moves them to a small town blending in won’t be so easy. It’s at school where she meets Landon the so More...

It's Micha's senior year and she and her mom have moved because of a job opportunity her mom couldn't turn down. This would be a huge deal for most teenagers, but not for Micah. Micha's always been a loner. She works really hard at blending in and not drawing attention to herself, not because she wants to, but because she has to, because she needs to, in order to keep her sanity. Micha sees things. When she bumps into someone or touches someone, she has a vision, a flash or picture of something More...

I know I reviewed the sequel of Insight, Manipulation, for the blog tour a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. However I can't say the same for its predecessor, Insight. I felt that insight was a bit too insta-love and sappy for me. Too much romance too fast which turns me off a book immediately. Obviously I liked it enough to continue reading the series but only because I have faith in Jolene Perry and because the second book is about two new and different characters. This book centers More...

concept of book was great! Enjoyed the book and pretty much read it straight through.
Felt a lot was left unsaid though but I went to Authors website and see there are 2 more coming out that will add to the back story between them. Loved the male character Landon and I could feel how much he loved Micha makes me believe he's more connected to her just like she thinks he is.... Good read :)

I love the creepy shadows in this book.
I love the intro to the series.
I LOVE Landon to pieces.
I love that the setting (near Seattle) played such a big role in this.
This was just FUN to put together.

Fun read, but felt a little stilted and forced. The story didn't live up to it's potential.

Great book, it was a bit confusing, with the Shadows, and it wasn't really a "there's a bad guy, we have to stop him" kind of story, just conflict with dealing with her power, and with romantic tension. Yep. Good book!

This was a delightfully captivating read. It what is mysterious and swoony. it was written in the first person narrative from Micha's point of view. I'm moving on to Manipulation now :)
