Unconventional though she may be, Cassandra Wallace leads the life of an average Londoner, from blind dates to rush hour traffic. Then, along comes Bennett Saville. Sensitive, charming, erudite, the up-and-coming actor is like the hero of a romantic movie. He counteracts the tragedy that brought them together, and from the tips of his Armani loafers to that scorching hot k...more

Review of Cassandra by Starlight

Although I expected an enjoyable story, “Cassandra by Starlight” proved to me much more than I expected. Beyond a contemporary passionate romance, which seems at times almost Cinderella-like because of the disparity of its partners, in wealth, age, social position, and celebrity, “Cassandra by Starlight” brings mystery, suspense, thrilling adventure, and fascinating c...more

A contemporary romance which really touched my heart. It was written very well. A very engaging book about two people that meet under the worst conditions and then make the most of it.

Well to say this story starts off with a bang is putting it mildly. The author had me hooked from the very beginning! There were so many wonderful lines that I highlighted. I'll list them below for you to enjoy as well.

Was it too much to ask to find a decent man just to share things with and have a good time?

Cassandra by Starlight (Starlight #1) by Susan MacNicol

Cassandra by Starlight is written by Susan MacNicol, Susan’s writing is great, the entire story and plot flows smoothly, the main characters were well written and you get enough information to get to know everyone, for me it was one of those stories that you don’t want to put down. This novel has elements of romance, suspense and some laughter. Cassandra by Starlight was refreshing to read and I have to say Susan MacNicol did a terrific job...more

I'm not one to read romances, like, ever - with the exception of Dorothy Eden's "Winterwood" from 800 years ago or so. I was looking through a pile of used books at a garage sale, found the cover art interesting and didn't put the book down. Sometimes, that is how it works out with a book.

I first heard about Cassandra By Starlight from the author herself. She had Tweeted about female on male rape, which caught my attention as a male survivor of a female predator. When I responded to her and iden...more

This was an interesting book. I enjoyed reading about Cassandra and Bennett. I do feel that the author should have removed some of the major details behind each new person that was introduced. I felt that the author had to justify the existence of each character.

I was able to get halfway lost reading this book. I could picture living in modern London with the characters. Granted I do not know much about London so I am taking the authors word for everything in the book. The author used some uniqu...more

I was in the mood for a good romance when I picked up Cassandra by Starlight to read and I was not at all disappointed. It was not only a good contemporary romance but was also exciting, mysterious, and suspenseful at times. As it was quickly paced, I read the entire book in no time, feeling quite satisfied when I was finished.

The Good: The heroine, Cassandra (Cassie) really reminded me of my girlfriend from the U.K. I guess that is why I giggled occasionally as I read the British euphemisms sin...more

Cassandra by Starlight is a wonderful blend of contemporary romance, romantic suspense and mystery thriller, which grabbed my attention from the first page and didn't let go till I read the last page. With compelling characters, scintillating dialogue and a fairly fast pace, Susan Mac Nicol crafted a story quite unlike anything I've read be...more

Cassandra has no luck when it comes to dating. Even though she doesn't have really high expectations, life doesn't seem to be on her side as she ends up with creeps and morons. After a really bad date, she resigns herself to staying at home with a cup of wine and decent movies. All of a sudden, as she is minding her own business in very slow moving traffic, a body crashes onto her windshield causing her a lot of damage as she is hurled into the ER. She is later informed that the body belonged to...more

After an unorthodox meeting, Bennet makes a point to stay in contact with the lovely woman who was brought into his life under unfortunate circumstances. I really enjoyed reading Cassandra by Starlight. Cassandra Wallace is just an average middle aged woman who while going to work one morning had a misfortune accident that changed her enter life. While going to work a man fell off a bridge and hit her windshield. She was hurt and was hospitalized and the man who fell died.

This is were the story beings. Eric Saville is the man who died. His brother who is a famous actor Bennett Saville wants to met the woman who was hurt, and visits her a number o...more

Cassie is an innocent victim of a suicide. She is motoring along in crappy traffic when her can is nailed and sends it her car spinning out of control. Bennett is an up and coming actor on set when the police arrive. He is also the brother to the deceased. Bennett has to go to the hospital morgue to identify the body of his brother and while he is there he stops by to see how the unfortunate casualty is coming along. He asks to be kept updated on Cassie's welfare and when she is up and about fee...more

At the beginning of Cassandra by Starlight, fate throws Cassie and Bennett together in the most traumatic of ways. Cassie is gutsy, strong and determined. Bennett is talented, complex and drop-dead gorgeous (with great one-liners). From the start, both of them are believable, with their strengths and flaws making their blossoming relationship loving and fiery by turns, as they try to overcome the difficulties they face. The love scenes are beautifully written - hot and passionate but tasteful, w...more

Every once in awhile I come across a book on a book tour that I never would have found on my own that I knew I would love to read. I picked up this book on the recommendation of a friend and because I had got wind that the male protagonist Bennett Saville was based on my celebrity crush Benedict Cumberbatch (how could I say no to that, to my most pleasant surprise I was in for a treat. "Cassandra by Starlight" turned out to be a fun, enticing adventure populated with delightful witty characters and hot sexy romance. I liked the dynamics between the main protagonists and also enjoyed their friends and supporting characters....more

Cassandra by Starlight is an enchanting tale that manages to immediately hook you into the lives of its characters. Cassie and Bennett are on very different trajectories and, if not for a tragic accident, would never have crossed paths.

Bennett's brother fell or leaped to his death from a highway overpass and landed on Cassie's car, seriously injuring her. Bennett's guilt over the accident drives him to pursue her. But he soon finds that his feelings are genuine. Meanwhile, the compelling aspect...more

This novel takes place over a whopping 18+months. Sound pretty scary right? Not so in this case. Mac Nicol tactfully skips over the times where the action doesn’t relate to the plot of the story. The progression of time is marked via the advancement of the relationship between the main characters. As a reader, you never feel a lack of information, yet you also don’t get bored being drawn out in long gaps of the story where nothing relevant happens. This also means that Mac Nicol can develop a tr...more

I received a copy of this book from the author to give a true and honest review of what I liked about the book. I want to start by saying I feel that being an American I might have missed a few of the "funny" parts of the book because I don't know some of the teasing that is used in regards to the area. I did enjoy the novel and liked the fact that these too people fell in love because of a tragic circumstance.

The characters: Bennett and Cassie are both very strong willed and independant indivi...more

This is an author I've not read before and I will probably not be interested in reading anything else by her. It was very slow and extremely predictable. I was quite shocked that 66% into the book (I have a kindle) it finally surprised me and for the first time wanted to actually continue reading without being frustrated and wanting to read something else. I think the last 1/3 of the book should have been the basis of the entire book and expanded on greatly. I would have enjoyed the book much mo...more

I just want to say Awww! I loved how protective Ian was of Cassandra when she was in the hospital and afterward. I found it interesting that the author chose to use schizophrenia for one of the characters. I have worked with schizophrenic people and it is hard to deal with, I love that the author used this unusual characterization.

This book was about two flawed people who find each other. I enjoyed that Cassandra was a strong woman who could stand up for herself and yet could allow herself to...more

I liked this one, but it seemed to drag on after a while. Liked the characters and how the age difference truly didn't matter. The kidnapping scene was creepy. I guess I would have liked have seen more the suspense because that really brought me back into the story

This author holds you all the way through the story. I love how she writes. The plot is tricky and complex. Its not easy, which I love! I hate to figure the book out early on. The two mains are perfectly fit together. Cassie is strong, gutsy and I wish I was her! I hate spoiler alerts because it gives something away and you dont want that. It would ruin the book. Worth every minute to read this story!

I live in the UK near London with my husband and two grown up children. I think my Twitter profile probably says enough about me to give you an idea who I am.

‘Author of contemporary romance novels, wannabe scripts, independent, pain in the bum, humorous, driven, prone to strong opinion.’

I’ll leave off the last bit of my profile. It relates to a fascination I have with a certain young British actor...more
