But when Kieran Lanier moves to town and passes out on her desk on his first day at school, Zip's life gets complicated in a way she never dr ...more

I took this book to work every day to read on my breaks, thinking it wouldn't be that much different than a lot of books I've read about dreams and premonitions and stuff, but I got totally addicted to it and couldn't wait to get on my breaks to read it.

Amy Martin is an amazing writer, the writing easily created a clear picture in my mind as I read, and the storyline flowed really well. This is one author that definitely knows what she's doing! A lot of the authors that send me books turn out

The term rigor mortis pops into my head. Oh my God, I think. Way to go, Zip-he's dead. You killed the new kid. But how? Did I literally bore him to death?"

I received this book from the author Amy Martin. This is the first book I have read from her. It is written from Zip's perspective.

I've been going through a streak of bad luck books lately, but In Your Dreams finally turned things around for me. This book, or I should say most of the book (I'll get to that later), reminded me of the why the Young Adult genre is one of my favorite genres, and how happy reading a good book can make me, which I'd almost forgotten at this point.

In Your Dreams provided everything I look for in a good YA novel: an intriguing

I was sent a copy of this book by the author and after reading the plot summary I was completely intrigued! In Your Dreams tells the story of Zip, who ends up befriending the new guy Kieran when he starts at her school. Kieran has narcolepsy, and when Zip witnesses one of his attacks she soon becomes someone he can confide in, and there's a lot more to Kieran than meets the eye!

I was completely hooked from the first couple of pages of this book. I reall

I gave this book 4.5 stars and here is why:

'In your dreams' is an amazing book, I didn't really know what I was expecting when I read the description but it blew my expectations way out of the water. I won't say to much because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't already read it but the focus on the neurological disorder narcolepsy is so unique but then the way Amy Martin takes it and makes the dreams into the major story-

I adored this book - more like adored Kieran - and I really, really, really wanted to give this book a perfect rating. I was sucked in as soon as I started reading it. The writing was smooth and enjoyable, the characters were cool and amazing. I really liked the way Keran and Zip's relationship developed - no insta-love BS here. The plot was really intriguing and unique and I personally found Kieran's habit of dropping dead asleep (he has a sleeping disorder) extremely cute.

With most books it usually takes me a couple of chapters to really start enjoying the story. But with this book I was completely immersed in the storyline right from the first word.

I found the relation between main characters, Zip and Kieron very fun. The author Amy Martin manages to make the banter between these two characters simple and realistic, a lot like the relationships I have with my friends at school. Futhermore, the author succeeds in talking about the many different feelings a teena

Initial Thoughts:
I was given a free copy of In Your Dreams by the author to review.

The Pros:
I really thought there was going to be some sort of paranormal twist. I kept waiting for it to pop up, especially with Kieran's condition. But it never happened. And I loved that. It seems all YA books these days have to throw some paranormal action in it, even if it makes no sense.

I liked the mystery/crime component to the novel. Not everyone is who they appear to be.

This book is great: from the well-rounded characters, to the interesting twist-filled, but believable plot I went for this hook, line and sinker.

Told from Zip's point of view - a heroine with a nice combination of self-depreciation, sporting ability, brains and maturity (that doesn't seem like a 30-year-old in a 17-year-old!) - the story unfolds in traditional YA territory of high school. But the gorgeous new guy, with pale skin thankfully doesn't turn out to be a vampire (or anything else othe

I read a free excerpt of this book and was intrigued enough to purchase it. I'm glad I did. The book succeeds on several levels – voice, content and uniqueness. Today's Y/A marketplace is rapidly shifting thanks to the e-Appetite for spicy paranormal angst. In Your Dreams is an increasingly rare example of thoughtful writing that explores not only teen dilemma and introspection but also delves into the mysteries of science – it's not the easy path to take and the author should be commended for t ...more

This is a very well written novel. I never once got lost trying to figure out what the author was trying to tell me. Descriptions are very clear (and basketball related) and all of the characters have complete personalities of their own. I absolutely love the fact that this is not one of your typical alpha male stories. The main character is a sports star in the local high school and is also female.

I must say, however, that I did find the storyline a bit slow. Nothing much happens for the bulk

IN YOUR DREAMS was a really surprising and hilarious book! I was pretty entertained how the author, Amy Martin, has written the book in such a way that's it's easy to laugh out loud. With Martin's first base characters - Kieran and Zip - they were written as such an unusual couple who were on the way of adventure, following down the road of Kieran's dangerous path and Zip's (sort-of) awakening powers - these two make a good pact!

This book was a pleasant read but was too simplistic.

The writing style was fairly basic and the characters were somewhat interesting but also distant. They weren't hard to relate to, but at the same time, they were generic and didn't have defining characteristics that made them spectacular or lifelike.

The plot was rather stagnant. I could tell that there were some parts where the intensity was supposed to increase, but the language didn't convey that, so the overall effect was a steady, unchang

Well that was pretty interesting. Zip is a junior and the star of the basketball team. She lives in a small town and has gone to school with the same kids forever. So when Kieran and his sister, Kayla, move into town it's a big deal.

Zip and the new guy, Kieran, hit it off in English class when all of a sudden Kieran is out like a light. I've never read a character with narcolepsy before. It was a nice touch. But things take a turn for the paranormal when we learn Kieran also has prem
22/1 - I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed In Your Dreams. I thought it was going to be a slightly cheesy, silly YA supernatural romance, and probably full of editing errors. Thankfully I was mostly wrong. The supernatural really doesn't show up at all, it's just hinted at and then dismissed as a reaction to an unknown drug ingested in the womb. The romance was appropriately slow for who the main characters were - a boy who has to be chaperoned by his sister to make sure he doesn't hurt himself ...more

"Zip" Mckee has spent most of her life just waiting to get out of the small town where she lives. She's known all her classmates "practically since birth", and nothing ever seems to change.

That is, until a new family moves into town, and one of the kids, Kieran, turns out to be a handsome classmate of Zip's. On his first day, Kieran falls asleep right in the middle of a partner activity with Zip.

Zip and Kieran quickly form a bond that allows for the sharing of dreams and secrets, such as Kieran

I was preparing for another paranormal story. I didn’t go into the book expecting much. But, again I was thrown against the wall, brick wall at that for judging the book beforehand.

Basketball = LOVE IT (my favorite sport)
Medical Twist = Perfect

Page one had the talk of basketball, and I was drawn in. I myself have been a basketball fanatic. Zip and Kieran meet off the wrong foot. Who just ups and dies in class? Well so Zip thought. But after talking with Kieran, Zip became the go to person that

So I was so excited that Amy let me review her book for her. The synopsis for the book caught my attention because it was so different from anything I'd ever read. The concept that not only does the main male character have narcolepsy but he can also see the future...I mean that right there is enough to make you go "I so want to know his story."The way the characters developed and grew throughout the book was amazing. I was so excited to find out that I had won this book from the author since the description of this book sounded fantastic. I haven't come across too many books in the Young Adult section that deal with the topic of narcolepsy (then again not much in the adult fiction sections either) and I became very interested in finding out what this book was about.

When you read the description you think "Oh there will be some paranormal twist seeing as Kieran can see bits
I have to say, this book was a pleasant surprise. While it had elements that are shared among almost every young adult novel out there, Amy Martin managed to spin some unique plot twists and kept me guessing throughout the book.

1. You like young adult romance
2. You like just a pixie dusting of magic, but not full out vampires/aliens/werewolves/etc
3. You can still remember your own high school days, prom specifically (I always enjoy a book more if I can picture myself doing what

I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review and I have to say that this book has one of the most inventive story ideas that I have read in a long time, if not ever.
Kieran is the cute new boy that just moved to a very small town and the first day of school he makes a huge impact by having an 'episode' in class. What are his episodes? He has narcolepsy. For anyone that does not know what that condition is, it basically makes a person fall asleep at random times. You could be w

The narration of this book is fantastic!! Good humour (like when the narrator says, "I think I killed him!" and 'she looks at her fingers - has he transferred some of his virus through touch?' in the beginning of the book - that was hilarious!) The concept is different as well - one doesnt think much about dreams until one reads this book. :-) And characters are very realistic and likeable. Synopsis (unspoiled [mostly]): In this first-person single point-of-view contemporary YA romance we meet Zara "Zip" McKee--a 16 y/o point-guard on her school's varsity basketball team. Zip isn't much into boys--because, in her small town, she's known them all since preschool and they've always been 'friends'. At the opening, two new kids have arrived; brother and sister Kieran and Kayla Lanier. Kieran isn't just new, he's someone very different from anyone Zip has known--which she learn in first ...more

I love this book. I've learned so much about the condition of Narcolepsy. But just when I thought Kieran's condition is just Narcolepsy there's this twist and turns that I totally didn't see it coming. I loved how Zip and Kieran we're meant to be together before they've actually met. I liked how Amy added the 'dreaming of future' but still 'don't know when exactly' that dream would happen. I would like to thank the author for giving me In Your Dreams, in exchange for an honest review.

When I first started this book I thought it was about two people seeing each other in their dreams, and then finally meeting and falling in love. Boy, was I wrong. It is not about that at all. Kieran and his sister Kayla are the new kids in school in a small town. On their first day at the new school, Kieran passes out while talking to Zip, and totally goes into stiff dead person mode. I really found the plot interesting as I don't recall reading anything too similar. When I first started the book, I wasn't too sure I was going to enjoy it. Some of the writing seemed elementary. However, as the book went on I thought the writing got much, much better.

So many books have the main characters with deep, dark secrets and they are trying to save each other. As a mother of three small children, I don't want them growing up thin

Allie is so cute and spunky. Her silly mannerisms and lack of relationship experience works to make her endearing, sweet and naive and not annoying.
