My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well I am sad to say I have already read Vampire Games: A Samantha Moon Novel (Vampire for Hire) and it was great and too frekin short, I WANT MORE! These books always leave me wanting more and he takes his sweet time getting them out, supposed to be anther one at Christmas but I would not put money on it. Let me just say that it was as good or better than the others, it was another evolution in the life of Samantha (some good, some not as always)

Mooning over Moon

I haven't read this series in years. It was like old home week when I picked up Vampire Games via Kindle unlimited. I slid right back into Sam Moon's world like I had never been gone.
What I like about these books is that they are mysteries with paranormal elements, that element being the character is a Vampire. A working mom vamp, with a mortgage and an ex and in this book another ex! Which btw I hated, the second ex part. REALLY HATED IT, and I felt that is was done just to th

First, I have loved reading about J.R. Rain's Vampire for Hire Series (Samantha Moon). But, boy, I'm not sure if I will continue reading through the series as I had planned to do.

Short Synopsis: Samantha is out to find out why/who killed a boxer. He shouldn't have died with the relatively light punch (in the ring). I really liked this part of the plot and thought it was fairly unique--I haven't read anyone else who came up with murder in this way. So, good points for the book, thus far.

In this book we follow Sam on a quest to find out why a fighter died. Was it really accidental as the coroner’s report states, or was foul play afoot? It is really bothering Russell, the other fighter in the ring. He is ridden with guilt, and has left fighting, wondering did the punch he delivered cause the death?

Fang is with us again in this episode, Fang has not been my favorite character, and now we are even more worried about him as he has a very dark side, a killer mentality, very out there

I really love this series by J.R. Rain, and the end of the book always leaves me wanting more. Sam is a great character and I love how she is written. I like how we have learned about her powers and vampire life along with her. She is such a believable person, the kind of woman you wished lived next door to you so you could keep tabs and live vicariously through her life. Things don't come easy for Sam and she struggles with her personal, professional, and paranormal life. How to make them all m ...more

I absolutely love everything about this series by J.R. Rain. Samantha Moon is simply a now-single mother of two, living in suburbia and working as a private eye to make a living. What's so special about Samantha Moon is that she is a vampire...a very special vampire, and her abilities are growing more with each book. I do suggest you read these books in order to get a complete feel for Samantha Moon and understand the struggles she has gone through as a vampire/mother/wife/lover/investigator.

I really enjoyed reading but by the end of it I was deeply saddened.

Fang: I always suspected he did not love Sam, he loved the vampire in her. Detective Hanner gave him that even though I believe she is punishing Sam and using Fang. This is what left me the most sad, I always wanted him to be her friend. He left her without much guilty, "I LOVED you, but you could not give me what I wanted" is BS.

Kingsley: Another male scumbag aka cheater. I always knew he could not keep it in his pants but was

Samantha Moon/Vampire for Hire #6
J.R. Rain

Once again Rain produces an enjoyable, quick read. The 6th novel in the series, like those before it, features the heroine, Samantha Moon, her former cohorts in law enforcement, her two children, her ex-husband, her formerly only online friend, Fang, and her friend and lover, Kingsley, the werewolf. Added to this mix are Ishmael, her fallen guardian angel, her new client, Russell, and a bevy of baddies, including boxers and a martial arts c
Having used the medallion in the last book, private eye, mom and vampire, Samantha Moon, can now be out in the sun without any burning or discomfort. That doesn’t mean she’s stronger than she used to be when the sun is up. She’s still tired and weaker during those hours and the need to sleep is still strong.

Sam is approached by a boxer to find out what killed the guy he’d been fighting in a match. It was early in the match and he certainly hadn’t delivered a knock-out punch, much less one that w

Wow I cannot believe how much I enjoy each book in this series. I just can't wait for the next to come out. Something very important happens to one of the main cast of characters in Vampire Games. I don't want to ruin it for anyone. I love how each book has a self contained story yet each book in the series has an over all story arc that leaves you wanting more at the end. J.R. Additionally, Samantha must deal with other more complex problems dealing with her children and her boyfriend Kingsley.

I have enjoyed this series from the beginning. I like the fresh take on the "Oh crap, I'm a what happens?" I love that Sam is a mother first and a sister and aunt, and that she has a job which she needs to pay the bills. She's could totally be todays woman, newly divorced who happens to be a vampire. its possible when you get 7 or 8 books into a series, things can get a little dry, a little stale, but no J.R. Sam's latest case involves the death of a boxer in the ring and the guilt ridden man who apparently killed him. She solves the case following leads all the way to Vegas. This one has some interesting twists and turns. The outcome was what I suspected, but the way there was completely unexpected.

I’ll tell you right off that I don’t like boxing (bad childhood memories), but other than that it was a very interesting ‘murder’ investigation. The rest of Sam’s problems were both useful and sad. I wish she’d get a break.

The only three good guys in Sam’s life are Sherbet (who’s married), Jacky (her trainer) and Chad, her ex-HUD partner (I really like him, but he loves someone else). Oh, and also her son. The rest are jerks and have all let her down. Her cheating ex-husband, Danny is a wimp.

I've been a fan of J.R. Rain and the Vampire for Hire series for a while now. What's not to love? We have Samantha Moon, mother extraordinaire who is turned into a vampire, divorces, almost loses custody of her children due to her cheating, lying, scum of an ex-husband and most importantly is a private detective.

Sam is at home watching Judge Judy give a guy a hard time when there is a knock on her front door. In walks her new client, Russel Baker, contender for the welterweight division. After w

Sigh. This book really depressed me.

This book was not so very different from the others, except it really crushed my dreams of a Fang/Sam romance. I’m still holding out a little bit of hope, but I’m pretty sure there isn’t any to be had. A lot of things change in this book, so it’s an important installment. There is a lot of growth in both her acceptance of being a vampire and in how she deals with things. Almost all her relationships change in one way or another.

Okay the truth comes out at least in the Moon household. Sam tells her kids both of them but then she sort of had to as her daughter has developed a knack for visions when she's around people so she basically came out and told Sam that she knows. Now if you read this series you know that Sam's son has the strenght of a vampire but is not like one as she is because she saved his life when he as sick so I understand that but the daughter now has visions yet nothing happened to

Hands down one of the best paranormal mystery/suspense series that I have read in 2012. J.R. Rain took the vampire genre to a new and exciting level with the Vampire for Hire novels.

Fantastic writing, world building and character development; even the secondary characters were multi-dimensional and added flavor to this tasty mix of mystery, suspense, action, and raw emotion.

4 Stars Vampire Games is a paranormal mystery/urban fantasy by J.R. Rain and the 6th book in his Vampire for Hire series.

I really love this series as a whole. I love that each book contains its own mystery, but that there is also an overall story arc that is touched on as well. I like experiencing Samantha's progression and increased powers and abilities. Her character could easily devolve into some type of Pollyanna but she is written so well and authentically that I just absolutely love her and her relationship to those around her. This book had some twists that were totally unexpected. Awesome!

I still enjoy this series although it starts to be a bit repetitive. Interesting plot, as usual, and well-written characters. There's slight overabundance of different supernatural beings (I mean, how many guardians/ghosts/etc. can loom around ONE person?)

Still liked the book though. Samantha Moon is one of the most interesting female characters I've seen in any series I've read, ever.
