Well, I could definitely see the Moira Rogers touch in the setting of this story (the world reminds me of the settlement of Rochester in the wonderful MR novel Hammer Down); but as for the rest - we ain't in Kansas anymore, Toto! The story takes place in a violent, dark, and gritty futuristic world. Noelle has been tossed out of the city for not being a 'good' girl like the rest of the people in Eden. (I really want to know more about how this world wound up this way). She ends up in Sector 4; and is discovered by Jasper, the right-hand man of the leader of a gang who have their hands in all sorts of money-making pies, mostly running liquor. He takes her to a woman named Lex to learn the ropes of the world; who takes quite the interest in Noelle in more ways than one. Between Lex and Jasper, Noelle learns what is expected of her in being a member of the O'Kane gang. She is also taken on a sexual odyssey through this free-spirited, uninhibited world. This story reminds me quite a bit of early Lacey Alexander works; where the willing female is taken on a whirlwind journey to discover and explore her sexuality (there is mfmf, ff, light BDSM, voyeurism, open relationships, and all sorts of sharing and touching) before settling down with her guy. (Or does she settle down sexually). I can't wait to read the stories of some of the other fascinating male gang members; plus the gals - Rachel, Six and especially Lex. Lex was my kind of woman; she knew what she wanted sexually and out of life; and she rocks !!

Great gritty new world, excellent wordbuilding, really good story, hot sex, an HEA, and an actual plotline, if not a fully developed one. What more could you ask for? Recommended to Erotic Romance fans and open-minded UF/Futuristic fans. Hopefully in the next books the setting of this world will be defined better and more deeply; maybe a little more of the past and how this world got to this point.

At first, when I started reading this book I was like

I honestly had no idea what to expect or where the story was going. I wasn't even sure on who the story was going to focus but after a while it became more clear and I actually ended up enjoying it. Still, after finishing it, I had to ask myself: "What on earth did I just read!?"

BEYOND SHAME was certifiably, 100% pure-grade NAUGHTY! Yowzer!!

I knew this was going to be a spicy, erotic read but OMG I did NOT expect THIS. By 30%, my eyes were coming out of my head. By 70% I was afraid of combusting into flames. Or should I say cum-busting! :-O

I’ve been a fan of Moira Rogers’s books for some time now. I primarily read their paranormal romance series. When I heard they were going to start writing some erotic (non-pnr) books under a pen name, I figured why not give it a try. And wow – I was pretty blown away by their first book writing as Kit Rocha. Set in a dystopian world, this book is filled with large, unforgettable characters, explicit sex and a believable happy ever after.

In this world, people live in sectors, each one having their own culture and set of rules. Actually, my one complaint about this book is that I wish I had a better grasp on the actual world and its rules. Noelle is from a very wealthy sector called Eden, where she has been raised to be the perfect hostess and the perfect girl for her councilman father. But Noelle has some rebellion in her. She wants to experience life, drink and have sex, something never heard of in Eden. Because of her antics, she gets banished and ends up walking the streets into Sector Four, known as The Broken Circle, gossiped to be “the heart of sin.” On some type of drug, she falls into the hands of Jasper, part of the notorious O’Kane gang. The O’Kane’s rule Sector Four. Made up from a bunch of outcasts and led by Dallas, they make their money from liquor and take shit from no one. It’s actually pretty hard to become part of their gang, but Jasper has a bleeding heart, and takes the ailing Noelle back to the main house.

While Dallas is the fierce head honcho, his off and on love interest Lex, rules the women, and takes an immediate liking to Noelle. She recognizes a girl who is lost. A girl who from the outside is pure innocence but on the inside has passion. The O’Kane’s are not only known for their liquor distribution - they are fierce fighters and just as fierce lovers. Huge sex parties where sexual play is the name of the game occur often. Dominant, submissives, multiple partners – anything and everything you could ever think of goes on behind the walls of this house. And Noelle could not be more curious.

I love this book for many reasons. First of all, let’s talk about the men. Oh my god the men in this book. All alpha, huge and muscled, tattoos and leather. All very sexual and dominant. They are cocky, sarcastic, and would fall to their knees for their women, and I couldn’t get enough of them. Besides the hot sex which we will get to in a minute, these men not only fight to keep their people safe, but they fight for each other. I love a book with awesome brotherly camaraderie, and man do we get it here. Dallas is a hard ass, but there are a few scenes where he takes a quieter tone, and builds up the confidence of his men. And I think it is so well done.

You can’t be in love with the men if they don’t have suitable women to keep them on their toes. While Noelle is young and naive (at first) the other O’Kane women are sassy, strong and fierce. Lex leads the group, with her dominant attitude. She gives Dallas hell, and I loved every second of it. For those that have read The Siren by Tiffany Reisz, she reminds me a bit of Nora (although let me stress The Siren has much more dark and intense BDSM scenes than this book). Very independent, and in this world where the woman gets a tattoo around her neck once she decides to be claimed by a male, Lex is making Dallas work really hard for it. I believe their book is next.

Noelle is coming to terms with her very unhappy childhood to a place that by all accounts should scare her, but she soaks it all in. She has an immediate liking to Jasper, who slowly shows her what her life can be like. I really enjoyed how their relationship unfolds. He doesn’t rush her, or bully her into being someone she isn’t. Sex in this Sector is part of who they are. Noelle comes from a Sector where sex is controlled and taboo. She learns the scary demeanor of the alpha men on the outside, lead to some pretty sweet guys on the inside. Their eventual HEA is well done.

Okay, so let me end with the sex. Because this is a very explicit erotic book. While there is a definite HEA with Jasper and Noelle, they do explore their sexuality with others. There is sex with multiple partners, Lex and Noelle even share some intimate moments together. It all flows with the world so well though. The strongest point of the book is how well balanced everything is. We get introduced to several characters, and yet I never felt they took focus off Noelle and Jasper. If anything, they made their story even better. The sex that is shared, the family that Noelle finally accepts, is done so great. Like I said, I wish I had just a little better grasp on the actual world outside the O’Kane buildings. And also let me say this book isn’t just sex scene after sex scene. There is danger present now that Noelle has left her Sector and Dallas is a big player, which means he has a lot of enemies. The action and suspense are well done here too. While there is a HEA ending, this very much feels like a world that has just started. I look forward to future books as I’m sure the world will continue to build and expand.

This isn’t only one of the best erotic books I’ve read in a long time, but a really great overall book. I really can’t wait to get another book in this series and get back to reading about the O’Kane’s. I hope you give this one a try.

Okay, let's see if I can get a rational thought out. I enjoyed the setting and the raw nature of the read, but at times the sex was overwhelming, although in all fairness it is the basis for the story. Noelle gets kicked out of Eden from her councilman father after she is caught doing what she's not allowed and she finds herself on the streets of Sector Four. The Broken Circle. She's being followed by strange guy who drugs her and she bumps into Jasper, right hand man to Dallas, leader of Sector Four. Jasper who is kind hearted takes Noelle back to where he lives with his other friends and fellow gang members so she can recover. They have instant attraction but Jasper doesn't do anything until Noelle "finds" herself. She's free to but she doesn't know what she wants cause she feels nothing but shame when she has thoughts, dirty thoughts that is. Noelle's story is about sexual discovery and I enjoyed the ride.

All I can say is that the sex is smokin'! There's a scene at the tattoo shop that ia an OMG moment. Nothing dirty dirty but it involves two men and Noelle and it's good stuff. In this story with have orgies, menages, girl/girl...not a fan of those but I got to admit it was good. Guy and girl but no male and male...maybe in the future books? *hint hint, wink wink* Spanking, hair pulling and good ol fashion bang bang banging...all the good stuff and more. Oh! And cage fighters. Ya gotta love cage fighters! Alpha men. We have Alpha men who I am excited to read more about. Bren, Ace, Dallas, Maddox and more. There's also some bad ass chicas that give as good as the men do. Lexi being the main one.

Favorite lines/moments:

"What if I don't want to be in charge?" "Then you get ink. Because once you submit to a man, really submit, he's not gonna want to let you go." She wet her lips, suddenly uncertain. "But how do I keep from doing that before I'm supposed to?" "You give pleasure, not yourself."

This was a message, all right, but it wasn't a fuck you, or even a look at what you lost, dumbass. It was a declaration, of independence and self-possession. Noelle's power, the spark of will that had always lurked inside her, in flames on the stage. And she was beautiful.

Jasper held her gaze, his eyes blazing. Intense. "Do you need me?" She wet her lips. "I can survive without you, but it's only that. Surviving. I want to live."

REVIEW UPDATE after second read on 3.11.13 I feel like I need to edit this a little. I love this book just as much if not more than I did the first time. This was my first time reading a book like this, a post-apocoliotic world, the characters were still fresh and new even though this was my second read.

Now, one thing that I didn't understand, and that was the reason I rated this book a 4 originally, was Jasper's alpha personality being able to share and let Noelle "explore" freely. I couldn't understand how he, with his super alpha tendencies was able to share. BUT, reading this again I think I get it. Jasper has only know the world post-flare. He's never know a normal world. He lived this life. Noelle has not, and he understands that. It's almost like if he would have claimed her without letting her explore her new world it would have ended badly. She needed to know, first hand, the new world she has joined. He lets her because he knows she has to be truly free before she can give herself to him. When I look at it that way, I almost respect him more than I did the first time around.

So, for that reason I'm bumping my rating up to a 5 STAR

WOW, WOW, WOW!

What a great book! I lost track of just how many different "love connections" were made. Lol. m/f/f - m/f/m/f - f/f - m/f ... Phewwww, hot! And I loved it! I've read books where the couples were swingers, and shared...but this was more. It was about Noelle learning herself, and what she wanted...shamelessly.

The main characters were both equally fun to watch learn each other and find love. Jasper, for all his rough and toughness was such a big pussy cat and so protective of Noelle. I think I would have liked to see him be a little more possessive of her. It seemed almost against his nature not to be. Either way, they were a blast. The supporting cast was just as much, if not more, addictive to watch. You fall in love with everyone in the O'Kanes. I can't wait to watch each of them find their match and mark them! And hot hot is that...to be MARKED! The alternating POV between chapters was a brilliant way to connect us to other players in this book. I'm especially looking forward to Lex and Dallas' book!

This was my first dive into a post-apocalyptic book, and I'm hooked! My only wish here would have been more of a build on why it happened, how Eden became...Eden, and more backstory on the sectors.

She and Jasper share a red hot sizzling attraction to one another and encouraged by Dallas and his woman Lex, they embark on a dazzling exploration of sex, submission, and acceptance and HOT DIGGITY DAYUM this is hotter than Vesuvius when she’s got PMT! You are definitely gonna need your BOB’s fully charged and on standby for this one.

It’s a little different from a lot of erotic fiction, not just because it takes place in a dystopian world but more because it takes the rule book and rips it up and embarks on its own dazzling and original path. Just when I thought I had a handle on it, it would angle off in another direction and I had to scamper to catch up, mouth gaping!

There’s some amazing world building here – a bit like The Hunger Games on crack. I’m so glad to see that it’s marked as book 1 of a series as I’m just not ready to let these people go yet – so much is left tantalisingly unanswered and screaming for a sequel. Or a series of sequels! There’s so much more to find out, characters to follow and wars to be fought.

So, if you’re looking for something erotic and a little different then you won’t go wrong with Beyond Shame – it grabs hold of you from the very first page and doesn’t even let go when the last paragraph is done.

Ok, So where should I begin... this book is dirty and hot and so agrh!!
This book is FUCKING WEIRD but yet for some odd reason I could not keep it down until I finished it. Its just you have to read it.. Its very compelling..

I liked to know more about the tough alpha men (kind of black leather bikers) and the brave women in the O'Kane gang. I'm not quite satisfied yet.

Like in every society the gang-members sought closeness, love and togetherness. The (bed) manner; in front of others, several at a time, sharing with each other, light bdsm and a lot of habits outside (romance books) normal limits was, for me, more than a little kinky. It was HOT but always also tender and caring (Thank you that Mrs Rocha!). For me, the book had been even better with a little less sex scenes and instead a little more steam and action in between. It would have made me much more comfortable with the book - but then it's perhaps a different kind of book.

Somewhere in the middle I begin to suspect at least one ordinary romance love story - TMG - and it maked me to breathe a little easier. Finally, it's in any case the search for true love between the cage fighter Jasper and Noelle, the innocent smart city girl from the other side of the wall, that sticks in my mind. As always - I fall head over heels for a sweet love story. And if you're, like me, a little weak for alpha males, it's hard to resist.

The book have several interesting characters, supporting roles and they are all great described. Some sequels with more about, for example Dallas, Lex and the others, attract continued reading the series. If I dare ....

This is a very, very erotic novel but it's about love as well. Nothing for innocent souls.

I had no idea what to expect from this book and it just totally blew me away from the beginning. The characters pulled me into the story through this unique world Kit Rocha created. I was so hooked that I couldn't put the book down. Before I even realized it, I had read half the book.

Where to begin, where to begin, where to begin...

First, there is a lot of sex in this book. I mean like A LOT. I am not exaggerating. A LOT of menage...m/f/m, m/f/m/f, you get the picture.

One thing about me is that I don't like "sharing" as in sharing my boyfriend or spouse so a menage in a book does not do anything for me. However, somehow it worked in this book to where I did not think it was inappropriate, but starting thinking it was hot! The story and the writing was good.

This book is an erotic thrill ride. The O'Kane men are sexy alphas and the women are their perfect match.
This is the steamy love story of Jasper and Noelle and I fell in love with them as the book unfolded.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series, I really hope it centers around Dallas and Lex.
If you're looking for a lusty erotic romance, Beyond Shame is worth the read!

Holy cow! I have been feeling rather dissatisfied with the erotica I have found lately because I wanted plot, world-building, characterization, and sex as an integral part of the story not just because the genre calls for sex. Rocha certainly provided all of that and more.

Full review to come I just have to say that I don't think I need my morning coffee today but I do need a cigarette, and I don't even smoke.

Beyond Shame is a wildly naughty romp, but its also a surprisingly sweet story. This book is NOT for the puritans; its for the fun chicks like me ;) Seriously, this book stands out among erotica. It was naughty and nice, just the perfect blend.

I got this as an eARC from netgalley. It was totally worth it as well. I LOVED this book. Kit Rocha is really Moria Rogers. This is their first non paranormal book together and they choose a different pen name to go by.

When Jasper McCray lays eyes on Noelle Cunningham for the very first time he knows that she needs to be protected. It doesn't seem like she belongs in Sector Four, which is outside the walls of Eden. The rich and privileged live in Eden and Noelle finds herself outside it's walls after being exiled by her father. Jasper manages to convince the leader of his gang, Dallas, to take Noelle in and make her one of their own. The gang is well known for making some of the finest alcohol and have become a family of sorts. The gang also likes to party together and Noelle gets a front row seat as a spectator at one of the parties. At first she can't believe what she is seeing because of the level of sexual freedom that the participants are enjoying. They don't have a problem sharing and enjoying one another and Noelle soon becomes intrigued in wanting to join in, especially if Jasper is a part of it. Being sexually adventurous was something that didn't happen in Eden and it is something that Noelle has always wanted. She soon finds herself fitting in with the gang and decides to finally let loose and live free. The attraction between Noelle and Jasper is undeniable which leads to some scorching, well written scenes from the author.

Jasper's character is patient and understanding when it comes to helping Noelle adjust to this new world. He doesn't want to rush her to do something that she doesn't want to do and gives her the space to make her own decisions regarding her future and whether she wants to share it with him. There were times where Noelle wanted Jasper to be a little more alpha, but I think he did the right thing and it didn't take long for Noelle to realize that as well. She's been sheltered for most of her life and he allows her to set the pace of their sexual relationship based on her natural curiosity involving sex. This leads to lots of sexually explicit scenes as Noelle finally gets to experience the things that she's dreamed of. If you enjoy reading extremely hot scenes, then you're going to love this book. I'm a fan and I have to say there have been a few books that have made me stop and fan my face while reading it. Beyond Shame was one of them. *wink*

What I loved most about Beyond Shame is the characters. Each one of them add their own individual excitement to the story and truly showed why this group of people have bonded together. I'm so excited about this series and cannot wait to learn more about each of them. They are open and honest with their feelings and intentions and I found that to be refreshing. I was so excited to find out more about the books to follow that I immediately went to the author's website to see what information I could find. Beyond Shame was extremely entertaining and the authors did a great job with setting the foundation of this series with this first book. (less)

- My Take -
Oooooh, doggies! Dir-tay, dir-tay!! Me likey:) This is some FINE nasty writing! There's just about something for everyone in this story, whatever your, er, preferences. Probably, I'm going to suggest dousing your loins in a big old ice bath, because it is ~ HAWT ~!!!

Smoking loins aside, this is actually a pretty cool setting and not a bad story. It's a futuristic setting in the aftermath of solar storms. That's not typically my thing. My usual reading preferences are for a contemporary or historical setting. I'm not a huge fan of PNR, Sci-fi, fantasy, etc. I read some, but it has to hook me right away and be well-written. This is very well-written, and it grabbed from the outset. As for the story, I very much enjoyed the outlaw gang aspect of it. Over the past several years, thanks in large part to Kristen Ashley, I have gained a whole new appreciation for the dramatic storytelling potential to be found in biker/outlaw gangs;-) The O'Kane gang felt familiar in that way. There is a really great sense of connection and camaraderie between the members of the gang, and that adds to the overall story. Imagine the introduction of a nearly-pure innocent into this world. Yeah. Makes for interesting times;-) The chemistry between the two main characters is sizzling, and I do believe there were some highly enjoyable future pairings being set up in this book. I hope we'll see those come to fruition.

Beyond Shame is an eXXXtremely sexy, well-written, engaging, awesome story! I'm crossing my fingers that there's much more to come from this author. Bottom line? READ IT!! All the cool kids are doin' it;-)

This is a great start to the series. I can not wait to find out what else there is to come. You might want to get your self an extra pair of panties the sex sense are MY GOD HOT!!!! I loved all the characters. I found it hard at some parts to know who's mind I was in. Other then that I found it keeping my interest.
