This was a wonderful book. I wish I had read it quicker than I did.
I received an eCopy to read and review from .
People that read alot of fantasy will complain that there was not much world-building in this book, but that does not bother me.
This book focused on Faith's life--her past, her future, her friends, and her family. I quite liked that it seemed to focus mainly on family and romance, where Faith is mated to Prince Davio, who is a s

This was a very well written novel. Wadsworth writes the way that individuals in high school tend to speak. Being that the novel is written in the first person, the descriptions and narratives follow the same format. The novel is full of slang and short forms, but it flows naturally. Nothing is ever forces, nor is it shortened to the point that it is no longer comprehensible. That said, the adults in the novel also spoke like adults. They weren’t bound to the slang used by the rest of the charac ...more
The Protector was a really great read!! Joanne Wadsworth bring us a fast paced book full of Likeable characters, action, and romance!! where can you go wrong with that!!

I loved the characters all of them!! Faith was great.. I loved how she made a stand on how she felt and stayed with it! and Davio.. a great hunk that loved and loved hard! I did get mad at him a few times but he always won me back over! The story line was amazing.. I enjoyed how Faith was pulled between both family's! I would l
I was offered to read this book from the Author in an ARR, I was glad i was one of the ones that signed up in time. I normally love books that take place on other planets or with people that have abilities, but not like Witchcraft. This book did not disappoint it was amazingly unique in so many ways. I loved it, i couldn't put it down. There is not one boring part in this book. I loved all the characters, especially Faith and Davio. I found it nice that the setting of the book takes place in New ...more
Angsty and passionate, Joanne Wadsworth's Protector is a fabulous debut that will delight YA fantasy fans.

Not only are Faith and Davio from different planets, but their heritages mark them as enemies. But they are soul mates, and now that they've discovered each other, they can't turn their backs on what they could have. Despite opposition from all angles, Earth halfling Faith and Magio's Prince Davio are determined to be together, but for Faith, "being together" means something differnt than it
I really want to read the next book.

First off, I want to say that I wanted to really like this book because it's my first ARR copy. I wasn't consciously looking for one, but I got the opportunity because of We <3 YA Books which is a really great community. When I read the blurb, I immediately knew that this was the kind of story that I wanted to immerse myself in. I expected New Zealand culture/scenery, Magio world-building in the context of war, daddy issues, a romance with depth. I got some of those, but not i

I received this from the author and was really intrigued by the synopsis. I love when the real world collides with a magical/fantastical one. Our main character is a girl living in New Zealand, attending classes with her best friends. However, Faith (our main character) can communicate with her friend Belle, telepathically. Her best friend, Silvie, whom she's grown up with, is aware the two can communicate like that and is completely comfortable with that knowledge. (Which I thought to be a bit ...more

Protector is the first installment in the Magio-Earth series by Joanne Wadsworth. Protector revolves around a girl named Faith, who meets a boy named Davio and is immediately attracted to him. Faith quickly finds out that the two of them are actually bonded and are mates for life. This revelation (in addition to her discovery that she's a Halfling) brings lots of complications to Faith's life, and is the beginning of any unexpected journey for her.
First I would like to thank the author for giving me a copy of her book to read and review.

The description of this book pulled me in right away and I'm so glad that I read it. What I liked best about this book were the characters. The characters are developed nicely. Faith is a great character that is believable. I mean she is not one of those girls who just "falls" in love with her prince. She does not allow him to control her and tell her what to do. In fact several times she did the opposite

This is a vibrant, compelling story with an engaging cast of teen characters. The leads, Prince Davio of the planet Magio and Faith Stryker, an 18 year-old New Zealand high school student are wonderful together. As ‘bonded’ soul mates, their relationship is wholly unique, one that continually faces new challenges and hurdles as the story progresses—especially as the reader learns more about Faith.

I was enthralled by the amount of world-building the author put into this story. There is also an e

I first heard about this novel when Joanne tweeted me (*Gasps* Yeah i know right)

When I started reading this I instantly fell in love. The passion between Faith & Davio is so overwhelming.

The passion, Love, Lust, Anger, Hate, Trust that is between them is was makes the perfect soul-bound mates.

It will be a painful 7 months to wait for "Warrior" to come in November 2013... but sooooo worth the wait.

I am so glad Joanne tweeted me about this book otherwise I may not ha

Protector by Joanne Wadsworth is a fabulously fun read. I read through the night so I could finish :D

Faith is a likable character and as the story progresses, the difficult choices she made just broke my heart. Dario is a handsome, drool-worthy prince (pain in the arse) and is lovable (eventually). I pulled for a HEA with these two, and Wadsworth did not disappoint!

Protector is my favorite type of love story: two people meant to be together and the hard journey they face along their way. Many s

This one of those books that you can just read over and over again.

Faith finds her soul mate in the alien Davio. With this mating comes many problems and firsts for the mating world.

I loved the fact that Faith was very kick butt. I enjoyed the fact that she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and let people know what she was thinking. She also believed in her mother in ways that were very different. She trusted her mom to make the right decision for her and I think that was huge.

The relationship pac
This was fine, if somewhat ordinary. The writing is fine, it is the story that is fairly typical for it's genre.

The world building is nothing special, as are the characters. The lead female is not especially likable. Everything is 'me me me'; she's a taker not a giver, so of course, she's on the exceptionally selfish side. To add insult to injury, she's incredibly immature. Which of course, isn't a crime in and of itself, but I would have felt more comfortable were she 17 rather than 18.

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't stop turning the pages. It was like chocolate. Once I started, I couldn't stop. I can't wait for book 2 in the series.
Loved it!
Loved Faiths attitude.
Loved how worlds can combine teenagers and highschool.
Hate how I have to wait for Book 2.
Life is changing fast for Faith Stryker. She's just turned 18 and has learned some news that she's not quite believing just yet - she's a Halfling. She's never known her father, since he left her and her mother just a day after Faith's birth. Now, her new friend Belle is telling Faith that her father is from the planet Magio, making her a Halfling - and her powers are beginning to take shape. Faith finds all of this just too far-fetched to believe, until she meets Davio, the prince of Peacio, on ...more

Spellbound, my mind spun with sudden lust-filled fantasies as I took in his staggering height. He must be at least six foot four. His hair held a slight wave and was that teasing shade in between dark blond and brown, the longer length just sweeping his shoulders. His eyes were to die for, their liquid brown speckled with gold, the darker color the exct same shade as his hair.

I love the cover of this book and after reading the summary really wanted to love the story inside the book. I didn’t love it. There are too many pieces that are inconsistent. First, a good portion of the book is spent explaining the alternate world that the characters come from instead of letting the reader experience that world. As a result, the first half of the book feels static. Next, because of all the time spent describing and not developing the characters it’s hard to become invested in ...more

So much potential for this book. I loved everything about this world with two countries at war. Nothing new there, but the names and powers they possess are a favorite of mine.

But than there's Faith.
She just didn't gain any thing from me as a character. Her defiance against all Peacio people just because her dad was Dralion was VERY annoying. I get she wants to be independent and all, but her mate is from Peacio! The least she could do was TRY to be apart of them. I mean they will be m
Check out my blog, Part of that World, for an exclusive author interview with Joanne Wadsworth:

*I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for an honest review.

At first glance, Protector is a sci-fi novel. But it also has fantastical elements because the people of Magio (a planet like Earth) have powers and strength skills. Not all of them do, though. And it's very rare for an Earthling to have the skills that our main character, Faith, has. An
The genre of the protective alpha guy and newly powered heroine protagonist has been done many times before, but I enjoyed Joanne Wadsworth's characterizations of Faith and Davio. They both relate well with each other, and I like that their relationship developed over time. The side characters were well written, and it's refreshing that there were some quirks to Faith that doesn't make her into the wussy damsel in distress all the time *cough Bella Swan cough*. The pacing of the story was well ti ...more
I read the first chapter four times before I finally continued on in the book. Every time I picked it up to start reading again, I couldn't remember what had happened already because the writing was all over the place. I found the beginning of it very uneventful and I didn't start to get attached to the characters until the end. The language used by the characters in the book is unrealistic to their age which really bothered me, it's hard to relate to something so unrealistic.

This is the debut book- as far as I can find- for this author. I gotta say, it wasn't too bad. I was really enjoying it until about half way through, when the main character, Faith, started to really annoy me with all her whining. I mean, I get it. She had all this stuff just thrust upon her all at once, anyone in her position-especially at eighteen- would be out of sorts. But it was just drama queen central with her, and it just really made me not like her most of the time. The story was intere ...more
This book was EPIC. I got to the end, and I was like, 'what????? That's it!!!' I went crazy because I was done with it.
The characters were awesome. The plot was really good, as well. I really liked that the main character was stubborn because she reminded me
I can't wait for the next one, even though I want to know more about what happens with Faith.
Good story. Really good.

Where Romance Meets Fantasy and Adventure...

I love reading romance, but even more, I love to write it. My characters hound me, demanding their stories are told. I’m happy to oblige, giving them the romance they’re after, provided they can accept a little angst and adventure along the way.

In beautiful New Zealand, I live with my hubby and four energetic children, and adore using the stunning countr
