Jerry Lincoln has a problem: his Sioux Falls IT consulting business has more work than one man can handle. Luckily, that means he can hire some help. Jerry just hopes his new employee, John Black Raven, ends up being more helpful than distracting—but John’s deep eyes and long hair are very distracting.

John came to town for an education and a chance at a life he couldn’t h...more

Every once in a while a book comes along that has me fascinated not only because it is well written, meticulously researched, about interesting characters, and deeply touching emotionally, but also because it contains a story that needs to be told. "The Good Fight", as the name already implies, is such a book. Two very special men meet and then unite in a fight for justice which, to be honest, should not even have to be fought.

What am I talking about? One of the two main characters in this book...more

What wonderful story, there were issues about Racism, Bigotry and also about Native American children placed in foster care under questionable circumstances.

This book was an invaluable source of information, and I was shocked at my ignorance, I didn't have any idea what those Native American children and their families are going through, it really broke my heart.
The romantic part of the story as always, it was beautiful.
This Author for sure knows how to write a love story.

+1 because of the serious topic, but the characters feel very flat.

The Good Fight- Andrew Grey

Jerry Lincoln is a man with a past that he is not proud of and is still haunted by it. He moves to Sioux Falls to take care of his Granpa. Within six months he dies. The rest of his family has turned their backs on him because he is Gay. Thankfully he meets two fantastic men who basically adopt him and give him much need acceptance and support. Jerry works from his home as an IT Consultant. When more works comes his way he needs to hire help. With the help of his frien...more

This is classic Andrew Grey doing what he does best, providing us with a mix of a sweet, tender love story with a ' lost cause/helpless situation ' plot line.

In this novel he highlights, yet again, another injustice against a proud nation whose heritage and dignity have been cruely taken away from them over the years by the stupid prejudices and greed of the so called ' white ' race - I swear to god sometimes I'm ashamed to be one of them!

I'm not one for rehashing the story in a review , the boo...more

I’m a huge fan of Andrew Grey’s books. I love how Mr. Grey really gets to the heart and soul of his characters while still writing compelling and beautiful love stories. I admit I’ve never read an Andrew Grey book I didn’t like and in The Good Fight, he once again swept me up into the lives of his amazing characters and the road they travel to find happiness together.

The blurb does an outstanding job at describing the story, so I won’t rehash a lot of it. Jerry isn’t looking for love, but he fin...more

Sometimes you get a hold of a story that strikes you profoundly above what you were expecting. I picked up this story because of the premise: inter-racial romance and a custody battle. When I read the last page, I found myself smiling from the satisfaction of having read a good strong heart-warming story.

Jerry Lincoln is a successful computer programer and software designer (and if I got that part about what he does wrong forgive me because I have no clue when it comes to careers with computers)...more

The Good Fight is the story of Jerry, an IT geek (a most loving description I assure you), and John, a Native American man that is fighting for his niece and nephew.

The Good Fight is told in 1st POV, which I love! There is so much to this story that I don’t know where to start, lol. Jerry is convinced to hire new employees to help him with his IT company and meets John – sparks fly. But, Jerry works hard to be a good boss and not overstep until John decides to push. John has a problem though, he...more

Is it bad when I start recognizing cover models? These are the same guys as: Cynful (Halle Shifters, #2) and Shattered Glass (Shattered Glass, #1)

This was good. I liked Jerry, although I was a little disappointed when I realized we weren't going to see John's POV as well. I liked these guys in general, as well as together. It was disturbing and eye opening to learn of some of the troubles that Native Americans still go through in this country. Aside from the romance, I was glad they focused mainly on the kid side-plot. When Jerry went into what made him le...more

What a wonderful....wonderful eyeopening story! I LOVE Andrew Grey. He is such a great writer. This story deals with the government taking native American children away from their families and putting them in foster homes all for the sake of money. It seems that the state gets more money for native Americans than for other children and it is very difficult to get them back. The story revolves around Jerry Lincoln and John Black Raven as they meet, become close friends and fall in love. John is t...more

I've really enjoyed this series so far. Growing up next to the Sioux reservations this book has far greater meaning to me than some others. Having been to the reservations and seen firsthand what can happen I'm glad to see a MM book that takes a look at some of the problems. I always feel like it is a forgotten community - with little focus and visibility in the wider world of the diversity that makes up the U.S. I liked both characters and really enjoyed John - as much for his quiet strength as...more

This is a great love story, one I would recommend to anyone. I read it entirely in one sitting because the characters were strong and I could easily identify with them. It brought up real issues that have been plaguing the Native Americans in this country for decades and addressed not only the prejudices of race, but also of sex. I could see this story becoming a Lifetime movie as it was full of love, persistence, and the importance of family. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star re...more

This is a story about both love and injustice. The romance between Jerry and John is both sweet and hot, but the story of how the custody of Native American children becomes a pawn in a game of greed for public dollars is even more involving. John's niece and nephew remain in foster care, bringing in money to the Social Services, while John is made to jump through hoop after hoop to prove he should be given custody. Jerry's willingness to give whatever help he can, and even more, his inability t...more

This was such a wonderful read. Mr. Grey does an outstanding job depicting the despicable act of what many of us consider legalized child stealing. One would think that in this day and age, it wouldn't be allowed, let along condoned by a governing body. It's just nothing less than criminal. I guess you can tell that this book truly moved me.

The relationship between Jerry and John is so sweet, loving and caring it put me in my happy place. Smooth and easy flowed into hot and steamy seamlessly.

In The Good Fight I got to peek into the life of John Black Raven. Not surprisingly, he does encounter discrimination as a Native American. I expected to read about the commonly known problems of poverty on reservations, lack of job opportunities and the loss of culture and traditions. I was surprised when the author tackled a problem I knew nothing about, the politics of Child Services in South Dakota removing Native American children from their homes and the almost-insurmountable obstacl...more

Tender and sensitive MM romance but the first person narration shortchanged the characters.

This is a very tender, emotional romance. Jerry has so much love to bestow on someone and John is his perfect match. I liked Jerry’s self-determination and commitment to living his life on his terms. It was impossible not to root for Jerry.

I also like the setting of South Dakota. Being a city girl I’m always intrigued by small town life in American’s heartland and thi...more

The Good Fight is my first book by Andrew Grey and it won't be the last.

Personal preference makes me wish for a bit more emotional reaction between the two protagonists, but Mr. Grey seems to have a style that shows emotion through story action rather than through character interaction, at least in this book.

The love story is based Sexual tension that evolves into a working relationship, friendship and then into love. The story is tightly and realistically written and the love scenes are both...more

How could I overlook a gem of a story like this, I have no idea. Here we have a really warm romantic story. The main storyline circles around love, children, family and everything else what's important in life. I liked both MC's, their romance developed slowly but firmly. Jerry, the main character, is really warm, caring good hearted person. I'm glad he met John Black Raven just at the right time, that's when John need all the help he could get. And love wasn't far away. Anyway I wont be poetic,...more

This book is clearly very well researched and gives a lot of interesting detail throughout, and on a topic most people probably don't even know exists. I didn't, and honestly it makes me sick to learn this is true. Very well portrayed in the book without lapsing into being overly preachy or political, much more a description of how this policy is hurting the people involved. You can really feel what these characters are going through, their hopelessness and frustration, but they don't give up. I...more

I’ll read anything Andrew Grey writes. I just love his work. This one was pretty good. I enjoyed reading it, but I wasn’t transfixed by the story. I’m not sure what the difference was, and for all I know it could have been me. The story was well thought out and presented. Jerry is a computer consultant who needs to hire help in his fledgling company. He hires two men, one of which is John (Akecheta) Black Raven. Jerry and John are attracted to each other and from there the romance blossoms. To a...more

This was an amazing story. It wasn't just a romance. It was a statement about the foster care system for Native American children in South Dakota. The author's style wasn't preachy or controversial, but he made his point subtly through telling the tale of John Black Raven, a young man fighting the system to gain custody of his niece and nephew after his sister dies suddenly. John is just starting in his career as a computer programmer, having been hired by Jerry Lincoln, a web designer who recen...more

A sweet and light-hearted read despite the serious topic. Gave me the warm fuzzies, and I'll be reading this again when I'm in a mellow mood.

It was eye-opening, learning about the treatment of Native American children by the government. For that, I give a lot of credit to the author for choosing to tackle such a serious topic and raise awareness about the prejudices and injustices Native Americans face.

The main conflict of the story was John's fight to gain back custody over his niece and neph...more

Jerry Lincoln, a self-employed computer programmer, is pretty overwhelmed with work. His small business has more work than he can handle, so he sets out to hire an associate to help lessen the workload. After a rigorous interview process, he settles on two candidates, Bryce and Akecheta (John) Raven Black, a gorgeous Native American who grew up on a nearby reservation, but left for a better life. When even more work comes Jerry's way, he decides to hire both men. However, this slightly troubles...more

I really loved this book. It's definitely a feel good read that I know I'll reread when I'm in the mood for a pick-me-up.

Jerry is a pretty mellow guy. He has his own computer programming business and hires John and Bryce when he needs more help. Almost immediately he's attracted to John but he doesn't want to jeopardize their new working arrangements. John is in a bit of a jam, though. He's trying to get custody of his niece and nephew but South Dakota is essentially holding them hostage and mak...more

ebook.
I think the things I like best about Grey's books is the inner dialogue of the characters. Makes me believe these people are real. And makes you feel for whatever they are going through. Laugh with them, be sad when they struggle, be joyful when they have a triumph.
I also get a good sense of the environment these characters live in. The descriptions of the towns and house are first rate, always does a great job of immersing me in the story.

Just finished The Good Fight by Andrew Grey and have to say that I loved it. I enjoy all of Andrew Grey's books but this one is now at the top of my along with Boottled Up.
