Lucretia Borgia is one of those people much maligned by history. I went into this novel with some trepidation, half expecting the usual evil, murdering whore characterization.

I was delighted to find that this was not what was been offered. David Krae's Lucretia is a gentle, honest young woman in the midst of a politically turbulent time.

Don't let the title fool you. There is plenty of Borgia drama to read besides Lucretia herself in this novel. Written in third person with the intent to admonish the negative reputation Lucretia may have attained throughout the years, her character is offset by her power-hungry, puppeteering father, Pope Alexander VI and her jealous, murderous brother Cesare. This was a fabulous read! The book is eight hundred pages and I never got 'lost' or 'mad at the book' due to any errors.
This is my first read about the Borgia family, and a good read it was.
Lucretia, daughter of Pope Alexander VI, has a rather notorious reputation, historically speaking. This author has researched this subject and found that maybe history was slightly mistaken. I liked the author's characterizations of Lucretia, Cesare, Pope Alexander and the supporting cast.
