It's rare for the second book in a series to be as good, let alone better, than the first book. The first book gets all the advantages. As readers we want to like the first book, so we go in with a more forgiving attitude. We forgive poorly developed character, plot flaws, and writer's quirks that would otherwise drive us to distraction because we're too busy being willfully seduced by the charms of a new story and all that it promises. Of course it's the second book that suffers for the literar...more

Whew! She did it again. Jen Blood has sent Erin Solomon off on another dangerous quest to solve a mystery that could prove disastrous for her father, Adam. As in All the Blue Eyed Angels, the author does not give the reader much of a chance to take a breath as the thriller unwinds. Aided by loyal Diggs and Juarez, the trio takes a lickin' but this time will they keep on tickin'? Einstein is as ever, faithful. Jen has the knack of ending a story with just enough to grab the reader to want more. Y...more

This second book in the Erin Solomon series is not for the faint-hearted. Significantly grittier than the first, All the Blue Eyed Angels, takes us into the realm of thrillers when Erin's stubbornness nearly gets her and her friend Diggs killed. Personally, I can't say that I actually enjoyed Erin and Digg's forced participation in the murderer's sick games, but it did make for riveting reading and would suit readers of thrillers and suspense.

As with the first in this series I enjoyed Ms Blood'...more

In the second installment of her Erin Solomon series, Jen Blood offers a riveting suspense novel. Whether one has read All the Blue Eyed Angels or is meeting Erin and company for the first time in Sins of the Father, the characters develop and take shape in satisfyingly real ways. Where other authors leave holes, Ms. Blood weaves a coherent fabric that causes the reader to feel the reasons behind the characters' behaviors. Though there were many times that I wished characters would make differen...more

Sins of the Father is the second book of this series of the Erin Solomon mysteries. The first was All the Blue Eyed Angels and there is a third called Southern Cross. These are so well written I can't wait for Aug.2013 when a fourth book will be out. Erin and her best friend, and sometimes lover, are in search for her past. Sins of the Father continues as she comes to his home town in an attempt to find the man she knew and loved and discovers he is alive and had another name in his past life. S...more

This is a great follow-up to Jen Blood's debut book "All the Blue-Eyed Angels" and the suspense in this book is more chilling tinged with elements of "Hunger Games". In this book, Erin was still very stubborn and bull-headed in finding out about her father but towards the end she felt remorse and also was inspired to make some transformations in her life. Jen has done a wonderful job molding her key characters. They were mutli-faceted and each experience allowed you to peel the layers and gain m...more

I have just finished reading “Sins of the Father” and my very first thought is, “Grrrrrrr!” And I mean that in the best possible way. Jen Blood has once again left me wanting more, more, MORE! I can’t get enough of Erin Solomon and her band of cohorts.

Erin, a woman who is equal parts lovable and frustrating, has once again found herself (and BFF Diggs) in a sticky situation, chasing her long-lost father through the wilds of Maine. With every step of her search, the secrets surrounding her parent...more

This is the second book in the Erin Solomon mystery series. In the first book, Erin sets out to solve several mysteries including a fire that happened when she was a child as well as her father's death/disappearance. In this book, she continues to follow the trail and ends up sort of solving a bunch of cold case murders--but all of her questions, or at least all of the reader's questions, are not answered. This book was a really good mystery with a lot of creepy, dark, disturbing events. I don't...more

I enjoyed this 2nd book in the Erin Solomon series even more than the first. Despite all the good advice to let it go, Erin Solomon, journalist, is still insistent on learning the true identity of her father, the man she believed was dead for years. All signs show that he was an unsavory character, which doesn't fit with Erin's memories of her beloved father. Her mentor, sometimes lover, Diggs, accompanies her on her journey, often times against his better judgement. As the clues start to pile u...more

Jen Blood has created an edge-of-your seat sequel to the first Erin Solomon thriller, All the Blue-eyed Angels (which you need to read first if you haven't already done so.) Erin is still on the trail of her mysterious father, getting herself into an even more dangerous predicament. The pacing is fabulous and the story line leaves you breathless. I think she does a great job with the numerous plot twists. How do we tell the good guys from the bad guys? My only complaint is that the ending leaves...more

Be prepared to stay up all night and finish the book if you start it. Or miss a few meals. Taking time out to eat just slows you down. Riveting is the best word I can use. Edge of your seat action, while somewhat cliche for a mystery story, works here. You might want to stay away from the kids when you read it as well. I know I had a few moments of exclaiming Holy F***ing Shit! in certain parts. Luckily my dogs have heard me swear before. I have the next book in the series waiting for me but I a...more

Erin Solomon is a reporter and she has returned to Maine following a letter from a convicted killer who dangles information about her father in return for her looking into his case. Erin has been searching for information about her father and agrees to see what she can find out and discovers that she has stumbled on to a serial killer and some really bad history about her father that gets her and her newspaper editor friend in deep trouble. Another good read and I will add this author to my list...more

I think I liked this book better then the first All The Blue Eyed Angels. I was a little disappointed in the end I thought it would have ended differently but seeing that there was another book coming I am still hopeful that Erin ends up with who I think she should. I think I have found a new Author to add to my list of favotites

I liked the second book - maybe not quite as much as the first, but very good. I had a growing problem with Erin taking so many chances in the face of some really bad events happening to her and around her. I definitely will read the third installment, but I hope Erin picks up a gun or a Doberman or . . .

There are so many gut wrenching, forget-to-breathe moments in this book as Erin and Diggs are chased through the unforgiving Maine woods by a killer, who may or may not be Erin's long-missing father, while Agent Juarez tries to find them. I read this book in one night because I was unable to put it down.

Excellent. Fast paced edge of your seat reading. Good character development. Erin is still stubborn and Diggs still seems to get into a lot of trouble every time he's around her.

Can't wait until the next book. I need to have this story come full circle!

I liked this one even more than the first one. About halfway through this book I couldn't put it down. It reminded me of hunger games meets the girl with the dragon tattoo....only better.

I love Jen Blood's writing. A very suspenseful book with a love triangle along with it. I couldn't put it down today. I can't wait for Southern Cross..
