Thomas Gifford hat eine Obsession: die zarte Frau, die schlanke Blondine, verletzliches Wesen und eiskalte Killerin. Hinzu kommt ein Mann, der in jeder Hinsicht überfordert und grenzenlos verliebt ist, bis ihn der Kontakt mit der Wahrheit beinahe umbringt.
In Intrige war dieses Muster noch neu, die Saberdene Variations, wie das Werk im Original heißt, ist eine weniger gelungene Variation seines Lieblingsmotivs. Wäre da nicht dieses unglaublich schlüssige Ende, bestürzend konsequent und kurz für

Thomas Eugene Gifford was a best-selling American author of thriller novels. He gained international fame with the suspense novel The Wind Chill Factor and later with the Vatican-based thriller The Assassini.
