Purgatory Reigns was an intriguing read with suspense, mystery, adventure, and heart-warming romance that left me wanting more.
Peter, the main character, is a rough 16 year-old with a soft side. He has gone through a lot of hard stuff including losing both of his parents and as you can read in the excerpt below, he doesn't have a lot of luck with the people around him which makes him very distant.
After something bizarre happens his guardian sends him on the run. This is where the mystery comes

Purgatory Reign is one of those books that takes you by surprise. I have to say that I am truly amazed by how this book turned out. I loved the cover and I loved the blurb so I went into reading it with loving it already and then by the end of chapter one I was hooked. I mean I was so hooked I could not put it down and it took me six hours to read it.

Peter Saint has had a rough life. His parents were murdered right in front of him and then he holds a person in his arms as they die. What more cou

What can I say about Purgatory Reign? Go buy it as soon as possible. It is such an interesting and creative story, unlike any book I have read to date. I became captivated by each new adventure Peter embarked on. I found it fascinating the way the story unfolded and pulled me in.

Peter Saints became an orphan after witnessing his parents murders. He lives in an orphanage ran by Pastor Finn. Peter isn't much for following the rules and sneaks out after dark. On one particular evening, he ventures

Another surprising YA read! I seem to be reading more and more of them lately, which by the way is always a good thing.

Purgatory Reign revolves around the MC, Peter Saints, who currently lives in a rundown parish which caters for kids pretty much in the same situation he's in. He's lost both his parents and others close to him, in an unusual twist as he later finds out when he's forced to run. He's pretty much a loner, stands up for himself as one must in a

Purgatory Reign by L.M. Preston is a Young Adult Fiction book but I would go further and say it is a Paranormal, Thriller, Mystery, Suspense with some Action and Adventure thrown in for good measure. I was in no hurry to read the book but once I started reading the first page I was hooked and finished the book the next day. I just didn't want to put it down because there was something always happening and I was dying to find out what.

The story starts with the main character Peter Saints who is

The premise of author LM Preston’s novel Purgatory Reign sounded really interesting and I was excited to begin reading the novel. I’ll admit that I was a bit hesitant seeing as how I hadn’t seen the novel around online much, but once I began reading I was quite pleased with what I found in the novel. The plot was fun, the characters were interesting and the world that the novel is set in is one that is straight up thrilling. Plus there was a ton of romance which is always nice to read about.

Purgatory Reign and I started off on shaky ground. For the first thirty pages or so, the writing felt rushed and choppy. On top of that, the first sixty or so pages, the story moved really slowly. After that though, things picked up quite a bit, the writing smoothed out, and I was finally enjoying myself. By the time I‘d finished the book, I was firmly in like with the story because the concept is truly interesting, the characters are relatable and have potential, and there was a good bit of act ...more

I'm not sure where to begin! I adored this book! It had everything I look for! I was blessed to be given an ARC copy for review, and I have to say, it makes me a bit sad that a lot of people can't read this book yet. Yes! It was that good!

When a girl dies in his arms, Peter Saints's life is really thrown through a loop. He is immediately sent on a journey that seems a bit impossible, but he is strong and determined.

Peter might be young, but he has a past that makes him seem so much older. People

Peter Saints parents were killed and now he's living in an orphanage under the care of Paster Finn who is trying to teach Peter about religion, and being a better person. Only, he isn't succeeding very well. Peter is constantly beating up bully's who are picking on the weak.

Initially, I thought there was no hope for Peter, and he might have too much evil inside him, but later on in the book, I learn there is so much more beneath his tough exterior.

Peter Saint! "Saint" is in his name....not so saintly personality. Peter is an orphan, but he's not your musical singing, high hopes, looking for a new family type of guy. He is parentless and mad as hell. He's forced from yet another home (the orphanage) after the death of a street kid and it on the run with no apparent mission. While wondering aimlessly, he meets up with teens of similar misfortune and embark on a journey with unimaginable evil nipping at their heels.

I wasn't sure this was going to be something I enjoyed or not. I was shocked at how incredible it was! Peter has been living in an orphange for several years after the death of his parents and to say that he is not thrilled would be an understatement. When he accidently causes the death of Hanna, it sets off a chain reaction that brings forth elements of a world he doesn't understand. People are willing to die so he can run and he is being told t

Purgatory Reign is about a young boy who finds himself running from an evil that he doesn't understand or know of. With his life on the line he just keeps running from place to place hoping to find some answers. Along the way he meets Angel. Not sure if he should trust anyone or let anyone get close enough to him he decides its probably best to keep to himself. Angel has different plans. He wants to join Peter wherever he's going as long as he's not alone. Along the way they find some mys

I received this ARC copy from the author to give an honest review. I was actually pretty amazed at how quickly I got into the story. Peter is an orphan who has a tendency to get into trouble, not bad trouble just that he gets in trouble when he takes up for others. Easy way I can put that. You will see action and butt kicking from these young cats! You will learn about 2 secret orders one being the good guys (heaven) and the bad guys (hell). When I agreed to read this book I knew nothing about it. I literally gave the synopsis a quick peek but I didn't really take it in. Can I just say that this has to be my most favourite way to read books, I seem to find the best books this way.

Preston's world building is fantastic and it draws you in from the first page, I seriously struggled to put this book down and when I had to put it down I struggled to keep my mind off it. Once this book starts up the action doesn't stop until the very end.

Peter Saints is not your average teenage boy. First his parents are murdered, then a young girl dies in his arms, all the while he is plagued by premonitions in the form of nightmares. Who can he trust when he doesn’t even know the truth about his past, who he is, where he came from, where he needs to go.

What I enjoyed most about this book was the history that was portrayed throughout. Who is Peter? Why is he so important? This book is very much a story about the battle between good and evil; ho

Purgatory Reign was a wonderful book with very real characters. Anyone who loves some fantasy/adventure YA with just a touch of romance, this is for you.

I'm going to keep this short:

All the characters were well drawn out. They all felt real and were likable.

The plot moved quickly and had a few surprises that I never saw coming.

The setting was my favorite part of the book. It was so vivid that it made the literary setting a tactile feel. Brilliantly done.

The book wasn't perfect-I wish that thing

From having read Bandits, I knew LM Preston could nail male POV, and she does exactly that in Purgatory Reign. Peter is a character that you root for right from the start. He's had a really tough life, and just about everyone around him winds up dead. But then he's given a gift, although he sees it as a curse, at least a first, and it sends him running for his life.

The action scenes are really well done, keeping tensions high and the pace quick. Peter's relationships with Angel and later Kyle ar

A story I have never read before. I love how original and unique the whole book is. The plot
and unanswered questions that surrounded the kids till the very end had me wanting more.
Speaking of the main characters, each one of them had a different backstory. None was reused
or boring in any way.
Though the whole giant angels and their history confused me, and I'm not a big fan of
the romance that went own with Peter and Angel.

I really enjoy LM's books. The characters are three-dimensional, each with a unique personality. You feel as if you know them in real life. The dialogue is realistic, the adventures breathtaking. This book doesn't fail to live up to its expectations and go beyond. The story blew me away and I couldn't wait to see what happened in the next chapter.
