What did I think? WHAT DID I THINK?! Well, if I told you that I sat on the bed and cried exactly like this for about five to ten minutes after I'd closed the book, does that put it in perspective for you?

Front Cover.
I really, really liked the front cover for 'If You Could See Me Now', it was simple, natural, and actually depicts a huge part in the book. When I first saw it I thought it was lovely anyway because I love the thought of making a wish with dandelions and then blowing them to watch...more

If you could see me now... This is the second book I read by Cecelia Ahern, a long time ago, the first one was P.S. I love you, before the movie came out. I read a review about it, and was set off to see what is was about... And did I found something incredible indeed. Cecelia has captivated me, in all her books.
But I must say it's If You Could See Me Now the one that has such an special place in my heart, words are just not enough to explain. See from the very first moment, I felt a connection...more

This book sat on my bookshelf for quite a while...waiting for me to be ready to read it. And when it was time...it was time. I flew through the book unable to sit it aside. The story is so sweetly touching. It's playful and lighthearted yet full of deep emotion and caring. I couldn't wait to finish the book to pass it along to a friend. This is a story about coming into your own and letting go of the deep seeded beliefs and fears that get in your way. You finish it and it's like you're sitting i...more

I wasn't sure what to expect, but at the library, I found this on the shelf and decided to give it a chance. I really, really liked it. I usually don't just pick up a book from the shelf--I like them to be recommended or on a special table, but I'm glad I did.

Elizabeth, an independent, fierce, rigid person, who is raising her carefree sister's six year old son, is on the pathway to a very lonely and loveless existence until she meets Ivan. Ivan turns out not to be who she thought he was, but tha...more

I was hooked to this book because it was quite different from all the books I've read. And having a little magic with the imaginary friend and their characteristics and capabilities caught my curiosity. It made me think the reality and possibility of having an imaginary friend and falling in love with him.. :)

Although the end was quite disappointing because he stayed as imaginary, i still have to admit that I enjoyed the book a lot and I would love reading it over and over again. :))

I wouldn't b...more

This was my first Cecelia Ahern read and I sincerely hope it won't be my last because it was just so amazing. The concept of the novel was so beautiful and innocent.

When I read the blurb, I had no idea there was a sense of magic about it. I just thought it was a normal chic-lit book that intrigued me, yet again. Oh, how wrong I was.

Ahern took me on a journey whereby I witnessed things I hadn't thought about since childhood. I was thrilled by the happiness, sucking me in wholeheartedly but I was...more

Ugh. I really struggled with reading this book. It took me so much longer than it should have just because I could not get into it! I guess I am just too practical to enjoy this one. :) I have no problem with a book being a little unrealistic, for the sake of a good love story. :) But in this case, I had a problem with a woman falling in love with an "imaginary friend" who is in fact real, but not really. Arrgg. I could not take it. I could not get into it. I felt like I was reading a childrens...more

Elizabeth is a fastidious, extremely well organized, interior decorator. Elizabeth has always been the responsible one in her family. She helped raise her sister when her mother left. She now is raising Luke, her sister's son. Elizabeth has a ton of responsibilities. Her father is constantly looking for his wife to return and her sister is an alcoholic. But Elizabeth is not fun and has no idea of how to play with her nephew and as for an imagination, she doesn't have one.

When Ivan from 'Ekam Eve...more

Okay, when I first open the book I hesitated when I saw the writing style. The first part of the book are from Ivan's point of view and the way it is written makes it clear that Ivan is a bit.. childish. To start with I thought he was a child because of the way he saw things and explained them, but I promise that if you keep reading he will grow on you. Big time. Oh, and he's NOT a child. Please bear with the slightly weird writing style at the start because it gets so much better as you keep re...more

Something I love about this book is the way it makes you think about imaginary friends. It is a nice idea that maybe these imaginary friends children see are akin to some sort of angel in their life helping them to deal with some sort of issue. What I like most about the book is that this imaginary friend ends up befriending and adult rather than a child. You get to see a woman who clearly has many issues and problems in her life and because of it she's completely disconnected from the world. Iv...more

Sometimes we just need to let go. We need to relax, stop worrying and just enjoy ourselves. Take a break form the real world and all it stress and demand for perfection to be happy and free. You see, we all need to take a break every once in a while to let go , and many it come natural but for some it is difficult to break down the barrier holding them back.

If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern is a creative story that takes place in a cozy small town in Ireland. Elizabeth Egan whole life ha...more

By Cecelia Ahern – Grade A+

There are no words to express how touching this story is.
I’ve read two books by Cecilia Ahern – P.S. I Love You and this. Both of them have touched my heart in a way rarely any book has.
If You Could See Me Now is a book which would make even the cynic of cynics sob like a baby.

Let me give you some background.
If You Could See Me Now is a gentle tale; a love story with a twist.
Elizabeth is a very uptight and no nonsense lady who has been stuck with her sister’s six year...more

Cecilia Ahern made me cry.

And I thought this was just your run-of-the-mill chick lit – all frivolity and happy `I-got-the-guy’ endings. Instead, it was a Nicholas Sparks book disguised as Chick Lit.

If You Could See Me Now starts off typically enough. There was the straight-laced woman, Elizabeth, who the reader could tell was in dire need of an intervention because deep down she was stifling a passionate soul. And the intervention comes in the form of her nephew’s imaginary friend, Ivan (who ha...more

"If You Could See Me Now" is the first novel that i have read by Cecelia Ahern. I've always been meaning to read one of her books someday and I'm glad that I finally did. I thought that this book was pretty good. I do admit that I was a bit confused of what was happening in the beginning but I soon got with the flow of the story. I thought that the plot line was very original. It was interesting how the author was able to create a whole new perspective on imaginary/ invisible friends. I also tho...more

I love this book. It's my first book written by Ahern and I'm grateful that I picked it up. I never thought it was magical. I didn't expect it to be. But then Ahern told the story in a way that would make you believe in those fantasies.

In times like these, we all need someone like Ivan. Someone who can teach us how to enjoy the simple things in life. To stop and smell the flowers. To not be afraid of letting ourselves loose. To not be BORING adults.

Indeed adults can be boring. I definitely agre...more

"If You Could See Me Now","Cecelia Ahern","140130866X","review","i'm kinda disappointed with this book. not the ""magic"" i expected from Cecelia Ahern, but still a good read than any other books. the book depicts the story of each and every one of us, a perfectly imperfect life ~ or an imperfectly perfect life. which brings us to realize that we might have problems of our own, but there are people out there who has bigger problems than us and that to believe in something quite unbelievable. tha...more

If You Could See Me Now started off with the idea that there are certain invisible people out there who helps and befriends children. It doesn't matter if adults doesn't believe that people like Ivan and Opal do exist. At first, Ivan become friends with Luke whose mother, Saoirse drifts in and out of his and his aunt's Elizabeth's life.

Overtime Elizabeth starts feeling his presence and Ivan realizes that he is here to help Elizabeth not Luke. Although, Ivan is about 6 feet tall and wears jeans...more

I got the book from my bookshelf and started reading the book...(duh!)

before anything else i would just like to say this, a quote from the book that was mentioned by one of the characters, and that is, GNIROB!(smiles)

Ah, kindness. It's the thing we crave the most, and all too often it doesn't show up. This lovely book blazes with it. This is a breezy romantic comedy/fantasy, but what you might not expect is the emotional punch. It will floor you.
Elizabeth Egan lives in a small Irish town and takes care of her nephew Luke. She's an interior designer and her life seems perfectly organized, but hectic. Into their lives comes Ivan, a sort of "professional imaginary best friend". They usually show up to help kids...more

After reading “PS I love you” I felt like reading another book by Cecelia Ahern, and “If you could see me now” was the first one I was able to get hold off.

Elizabeth, an independent, well-organised and finicky person, is raising her carefree sister's six-year-old son, Luke. She has always been the responsible one in the family and as such has taken over this part. Life for both is lonely and loveless – until Ivan from “Ekam Eveileb” comes to visit Luke. But Ivan decides that Elizabeth needs some...more

Elizabeth is straight laced and has to be perfect, hold everything and everyone around her together and she doesn't have time for fun.

She's raising her nephew Luke, which she didn't want to do. Suddenly Luke has an imaginary friend named Ivan, which is driving Elizabeth nuts because she feels like that life should be real, no matter what age you are.

But suddenly Elizabeth can see Ivan, and hear Ivan and soon she starts to fall in love with Ivan, thinking that Ivan is a father of a friend of Luke...more

love was one of those feelings that you could never have control of.

People forget they have options. And they forget that those things really don’t matter. They should concentrate on what they have and
not what they don’t have. And by the way, wishing and dreaming doesn’t
mean concentrating on what you don’t have, it’s positive thinking that encourages hoping and believing, not whinging and moaning.

Life’s kind of like a painting. A really bizarre, abstract painting.
You could look at it and think t...more

I love Cecelia Ahern's book. They make you laugh and cry and are so full of feeling. They also give you the notion that love exists and there is someone out there for all of us. And sometimes it shows up before you can even see it.

This is the story of Elizabeth, a woman who likes everything neat, clean, and in its place. Elizabeth has a wild and crazy sister who has a young son who Elizabeth has to take care of. One day the child meets an imaginary friend, Ivan. Ivan falls in love with Elizabeth...more

Rubbish! I wanted to see what all the hype about Cecelia Ahern was so I picked up this book and my was I disappointed. Then new Marian Keyes?? Get out of here! I love Marian Keyes and to have her being compared to this tripe is an insult. This book was so poorly written and edited it just makes me want to cry. Now, I don't mind the whole magical element but at least there should be some realism in it. Elizabeth is painting a room and then her imaginary friend comes and they have a paint fight an...more

It probably made a big difference that I listened to this book on CD. I might not have read the book, but the Irish accents and lilting music added to the magic and fantasy of the story. The premise of the book may sound a bit "same old." A woman who grew up too fast, her sister who didn't grow up at all, and the sister's son now being raised by the aunt who can't let herself have fun or she'll be too much like her sister and their irresponsible mother who abandoned them and their father. The st...more

I was a bit dubious because I am not a lover of chick lit and this is the same author as 'P.S. I Love You', which I thought was naff! However, I thought this story was totally captivating and I immersed myself in it. Luckily I hope I am a mum who can relax and have fun, brought teddies to life with silly voices, played make believe games with my son, not worried about the dirt brought in from outdoor adventures in the fields and woods (which stripping him down in a car park and driving him back...more

People come into your life everyday, you say good morning, you say good evening, some stay for a few minutes, some stay for a few months, some a year, others a whole lifetime.
