I wasn't sure what to expect, but at the library, I found this on the shelf and decided to give it a chance. I really, really liked it. I usually don't just pick up a book from the shelf--I like them to be recommended or on a special table, but I'm glad I did.

Elizabeth, an independent, fierce, rigid person, who is raising her carefree sister's six year old son, is on the pathway to a very lonely and loveless existence until she meets Ivan. Ivan turns out not to be who she thought More...

I was hooked to this book because it was quite different from all the books I've read. And having a little magic with the imaginary friend and their characteristics and capabilities caught my curiosity. It made me think the reality and possibility of having an imaginary friend and falling in love with him.. :)

Although the end was quite disappointing because he stayed as imaginary, i still have to admit that I enjoyed the book a lot and I would love reading it over and over again. :)) More...

This was my first Cecelia Ahern read and I sincerely hope it won't be my last because it was just so amazing. The concept of the novel was so beautiful and innocent.

When I read the blurb, I had no idea there was a sense of magic about it. I just thought it was a normal chic-lit book that intrigued me, yet again. Oh, how wrong I was.

Ahern took me on a journey whereby I witnessed things I hadn't thought about since childhood. I was thrilled by the happiness, sucking me in w More...

Ugh. I really struggled with reading this book. It took me so much longer than it should have just because I could not get into it! I guess I am just too practical to enjoy this one. :) I have no problem with a book being a little unrealistic, for the sake of a good love story. :) But in this case, I had a problem with a woman falling in love with an "imaginary friend" who is in fact real, but not really. Arrgg. I could not take it. I could not get into it. I felt like I was reading a More...

Elizabeth is a fastidious, extremely well organized, interior decorator. Elizabeth has always been the responsible one in her family. She helped raise her sister when her mother left. She now is raising Luke, her sister's son. Elizabeth has a ton of responsibilities. Her father is constantly looking for his wife to return and her sister is an alcoholic. But Elizabeth is not fun and has no idea of how to play with her nephew and as for an imagination, she doesn't have one.

When Ivan fr More...

"If You Could See Me Now" is the first novel that i have read by Cecelia Ahern. I've always been meaning to read one of her books someday and I'm glad that I finally did. I thought that this book was pretty good. I do admit that I was a bit confused of what was happening in the beginning but I soon got with the flow of the story. I thought that the plot line was very original. It was interesting how the author was able to create a whole new perspective on imaginary/ invisible friends. More...

I love this book. It's my first book written by Ahern and I'm grateful that I picked it up. I never thought it was magical. I didn't expect it to be. But then Ahern told the story in a way that would make you believe in those fantasies.

In times like these, we all need someone like Ivan. Someone who can teach us how to enjoy the simple things in life. To stop and smell the flowers. To not be afraid of letting ourselves loose. To not be BORING adults.

Indeed adults can be borin More...

If You Could See Me Now started off with the idea that there are certain invisible people out there who helps and befriends children. It doesn't matter if adults doesn't believe that people like Ivan and Opal do exist. At first, Ivan become friends with Luke whose mother, Saoirse drifts in and out of his and his aunt's Elizabeth's life.

Overtime Elizabeth starts feeling his presence and Ivan realizes that he is here to help Elizabeth not Luke. Although, Ivan is about 6 feet tall and we More...

First & foremost, I wasn’t the type of reader who prefer romance genre books because it is so difficult to find a story which portrays love in depth without any physical contact.

This is actually only the second book in romance genre I ever read (minus all those craps I read when I was in secondary school.

So, here’s quick (hopefully) look on why this book is such a smashing hit for me.

1. I got it for free! (Well, I swapped with a handbag which I don’t like. Haha)

Ah, kindness. It's the thing we crave the most, and all too often it doesn't show up. This lovely book blazes with it. This is a breezy romantic comedy/fantasy, but what you might not expect is the emotional punch. It will floor you.

After reading “PS I love you” I felt like reading another book by Cecelia Ahern, and “If you could see me now” was the first one I was able to get hold off.

Elizabeth, an independent, well-organised and finicky person, is raising her carefree sister's six-year-old son, Luke. She has always been the responsible one in the family and as such has taken over this part. Life for both is lonely and loveless – until Ivan from “Ekam Eveileb” comes to visit Luke. But Ivan decides that Elizabet More...

Elizabeth is straight laced and has to be perfect, hold everything and everyone around her together and she doesn't have time for fun.

She's raising her nephew Luke, which she didn't want to do. Suddenly Luke has an imaginary friend named Ivan, which is driving Elizabeth nuts because she feels like that life should be real, no matter what age you are.

But suddenly Elizabeth can see Ivan, and hear Ivan and soon she starts to fall in love with Ivan, thinking that Ivan is a fa More...

love was one of those feelings that you could never have control of.

People forget they have options. And they forget that those things really don’t matter. They should concentrate on what they have and
not what they don’t have. And by the way, wishing and dreaming doesn’t
mean concentrating on what you don’t have, it’s positive thinking that encourages hoping and believing, not whinging and moaning.

Life’s kind of like a painting. A really bizarre, abstract paint More...

I love Cecelia Ahern's book. They make you laugh and cry and are so full of feeling. They also give you the notion that love exists and there is someone out there for all of us. And sometimes it shows up before you can even see it.

Rubbish! I wanted to see what all the hype about Cecelia Ahern was so I picked up this book and my was I disappointed. Then new Marian Keyes?? Get out of here! I love Marian Keyes and to have her being compared to this tripe is an insult. This book was so poorly written and edited it just makes me want to cry. Now, I don't mind the whole magical element but at least there should be some realism in it. Elizabeth is painting a room and then her imaginary friend comes and they have a paint fi More...

It probably made a big difference that I listened to this book on CD. I might not have read the book, but the Irish accents and lilting music added to the magic and fantasy of the story. The premise of the book may sound a bit "same old." A woman who grew up too fast, her sister who didn't grow up at all, and the sister's son now being raised by the aunt who can't let herself have fun or she'll be too much like her sister and their irresponsible mother who abandoned them and their fath More...

I wonder if I ever had an imaginary friend. I don’t suppose I did, growing up, I was quite normal. A little off my centre seeing as a girl I prefer to climb trees instead of playing tea parties, nonetheless, I was normal.

Elizabeth Egan, she has a normal rigid life. She has routines and rules and schedules. Fun is definitely not on her daily to-do list. She came from downright messed up and crazy family. Her mother left her and her sister in the care of their father when she was only More...

Another Ahern book that i've really liked and enjoyed reading!

As per usual, she has a very unique way of throwing in poignant and thought-provoking moments into her stories, while still keeping the mood light and interesting.

One thing I didn't like, and it seems to be a theme here with her books and myself, is the lack of a "true" happy ending. Not giving away spoilers or anything like that, but I would have preferred another ending lets just say. This ending w More...

I love Cecilia Ahern's novels. They're light and entertaining books without being totally brainless fluff.

I borrowed this in e-book format from my library and couldn't put it down. The story is wonderful, and I found my heart being wrenched all over the place near the end. Ivan is a little too childish at times, while Elizabeth is way too serious. They are just what each other needs to understand how to enjoy life.

What I find thought-provoking is that those who don't like More...

In one word: light&easy reading.

Some more words: The plot is going around Elizabeth who starts to see her nephew's imaginary friend and cannot understand he is invisible to everyone else. To make the story more complicated and to base it on something there are past family's tragedies, disappointment in relationships and love, necessity to care for everyone around and some other things. Sometimes it became absurd that the main heroine couldn't understand that only she sees Ivan. So many More...

I feel in love with this book! To understand why, you need to know me. I am a happy-go-lucky gal who likes to look at the world with her rose colored glasses. Ok, I don't have those glasses but that is my attitude that I live on!

The novel I read is called “If You Could See Me Now”. Written by Cecelia Ahern it was the third book she wrote. The main character in this novel is called Elizabeth Egan. Elizabeth lived Ireland. Elizabeth was abandoned by her mother just after her sister was born when Elizabeth was at the age of eleven. She then had to take care of her sister, Saorise , and raise her. When her sister gave birth to Luke Elizabeth left her life in New York and returned to Ireland where she opened her own interi More...

Really cute premise. The protagonist is an uptight woman who is guardian to her nephew. She becomes friends with his "imaginary" friend and the story is told through the viewpoints of the woman and the imaginary friend. Of course, I love stuff like that (ghosts, other worldly people looking after us, etc.) so your mileage my vary. There were some things I didn't like about the book, however. For one, the reader is beat over the head with the fact the woman is uptight, black and white, More...

I am only half ways done with this book, but it has still made a good impression. It is a little weird, but not in a bad way. This book is about the serious Elizabeth who never laugh or taking joys. All this I is due to her struggling teenage years. She had a free-spirited mother which left her alone with her younger sister Saorise. She was forced up to babysit her sister, because there was not much help in her father.

As the years went on her sister never grew up and became addicted i More...
