I'm vaguely offended by this book... (but mollified by the ending and a few redeeming scenes). Was it Shay's objectification of herself? Was it the emphasis on looks for both the man and woman? Was it the over-the-top perfectly loving community in which the annoying minister lived and worked? Was it the way I didn't believe in their love?

But I still liked this story; I read it voraciously, because, despite not liking either MCs, it was written with a 'I gotta see where this FuckedUpCheeze goes!

Brilliant and heart-stopping turn of events. I really loved the story, especially the conflict between Shay and Ian's religious belief. It only reflects that a person can change in any ways and ready to give up everything just to make his/her partner happy even if those special things would mean so much.
Acceptance, sacrifice, humility, love, and putting God first in your life will be the perfect formula for a long and lasting relationship with the one you really love no matter how long or how fa

I enjoyed this book. I know a lot of people didn't because the romance and marriage happen pretty quick, but that wasn't the point of this story. Yes, it was quick, but the struggle was in the post-marriage relationship. How could she handle being a pastor's wife? Would it work between them? I really enjoyed how Ms. Brown portrayed his life as a pastor, and the tension that escalated between them. It was a nice little book, and the ending was quite good. All in all, a pleasant and unique read.
Tempest in Eden is one of those books that I have missed out on in my quest to read all the titles by Sandra Brown. This one came to my notice I think through Amazon that does a wonderful job out of emptying my credit card every month by suggesting books that I definitely MUST have, most of which I never end up reading due to time constraints.

Tempest in Eden tells the story of Shay Morrison, whose mother recently gets remarried. Meeting her stepbrother turns out to be one hell of an encounter, w
the premise was interesting but right off the bat the heroine lacked the courage of her convictions. She was all embarrassed about being racy and saucy as soon as she found out he was a minister. If you're comfortable with who you are then you would be comfortable no matter who you were speaking to.

Good purse book. Easy enough to pick up and put down. Very quick read.
I received this book as part of Goodreads giveaways and first reads.

I have previously read two other books by Sandra Brown: Breakfast in Bed and Ricochet, both of which I received as part of Goodreads giveaways. My opinion on these books were somewhat split- they were written with some thirty years between them, and Brown's style of writing had definitely evolved and improved. Although both novels could easily be placed under the 'romance' genre, a style I'm not a particular fan of, Ricochet app

Sandra Brown has long been one of my favorite authors, though more so for her mystery/thrillers than her straight romances. According to the author’s note, this book was originally published under her first pen name, Rachel Ryan, which promptly sent me to to see what else had been published under that name in case I’ve missed something. (Only five books listed, all of which I believe I’ve either read or have waiting to be read.)

This one was a little different, in that the h

This is a short romance that includes plenty of tropes and insta-love predictability, but it has merit just the same. Shay has come to the weekend cabin now used by her mother and her mother’s new husband. Shay is a free thinker by every measure. She poses nude for photographers and artists; she’s proud of her body, and while she’s picky about the men with whom she has sex, she has no problem looking nonjudgmentally at men of all kinds in all states of dress or undress.

Also at the cabin that wee

I actually wanted to read this book because some of the reviews on it were so bad.. The premise of the book sounded interesting enough Shay Morrison, a nude model for artists, and Ian Douglas, a conservative minister. Her mother and his father had married and wanted everyone to meet at a cabin so everyone could get to know each other. Shay had not yet met the man her mother had married nor knew much about his son. They get off on the wrong foot when she catches him coming out of the shower and g ...more

Tempest in Eden is truly a romantic novel. Shay Morrison is invited to spend the weekend at a cabin in the woods owned by her step father John. Celia Morrison recently was wedded to John Douglas. Celia and John wanted the families to get to know each other. Ian, John Douglas son, is a minister. Shay is a nude model (take away the a, Shay was not shy) and works at an art gallery. Shay arrived early at the cabin. Her mother had her name on the door of her bedroom. Shay enters the room when Ian wal ...more

I admit, I have never really read romance novels, but I have always felt that I was missing out on something. When I saw this book as a first reads giveaway, I figured that Sandra Brown was the perfect author to help get my romantic feet wet.
This book was originally published in 1983 under a pseudonym. I really wish I had something to compare it to, and I will definitely have to read some of Sandra Brown's later work to see if her style has progressed.

I have been mulling this one over for a few days. I'm not sure I liked the characters all the much. Shay is a nude model and Ian is a minister. In the beginning, Shay comes across as a beautiful, confident woman. She enjoys life and what she does for a living. After meeting Ian, she becomes uncertain and almost clingy. I didn't really understand why she would switch all of a sudden because of a man she met one weekend. I thought her behavior in the beginning was appalling. Honestly, why would a ...more

My first book from Ms.Sandra brown and I am not disappointed. My buddy says she's one of the best writer and I do agree..Anyway tempest of Eden is about Two people with different lifestyle/profession..She's (SHAY) A nude model for artist and he (IAN) is a conservative minister. They couldn't stand each other at first, but they fell in love.

I admired Shay for being so comfortable and proud of her career and About Ian I appreciate him taking his religious commitment serious..They have both strong pe
This is a love story between two new step-siblings, a divorced nude model and a widowed minister. A weekend at their parent’s cabin brings them to their first meeting. They disagree and offend each other constantly. Suddenly, weeks after that weekend he shows up and its love? Their only attraction to each other that weekend was physical. Neither character had any depth. I didn’t buy his reason for loving her (shallow) and I didn’t buy her willingness to give up her modeling career to become a co ...more

I think I'm just not crazy about this genre. And since I'm Catholic I found it very unbelievable, especially towards the end. Honestly I skipped all the love scenes coz I felt bad about reading about a minister. Other reviewrs have mentioned how fast the story progressed. I feel that Ian didn't really love Shay for who she was but rather who she could be. And Shay changed drastically towards the end, her sassiness was gone, all the things I loved about her just disappeared. All in all, it was ra ...more
I've won this book from the giveaway here on Goodreads. I haven't read any of Sandra Brown's books before so i really didn't knot what to expect.

I loved the plot. A minister and a liberated nude model. An unlikely pair. But it will intrigue you how the story will evolve. Especially how their values will effect their relationship.
But then again, i thought the story went so fast. One moment they have this gap from each other and the next moment they were married. Like nothing really happened unti

Tempest in Eden by Sandra Brown
Shea is a nude model and she drives to visit with her mom and her new husband. She also now has a brother via her moms marriage and she likes what she sees as he steps out of the shared bathroom at her moms house.
Over the weekend they become friends and even more than that as the wine flows freely. She goes back to the city and he comes to visit and she attends his service to find out about his job.
Erin is a minister. She can not see the relationship going anywhere

Better than Harliquen

That about sums it up. No suspense; the fact that they would end up married was evident from chapter one. Plus totally unrealistic, stars in their eyes; again basic romance novel stuff, just written a little better. At least the sex was toned down below the soft prom level. (They did do something impossible on phone 228.) Brown's books are bi-polar, either great suspense or this romantic garbage (please pronounce that gar-bage' to make it sound tonier.)

I have read quite a few of Sandra Brown's book and enjoyed them. I have been able to overlook the usually traditional views on masculinity and femininity but this is by far one of the most sexist books I have ever, ever read. Ever. In most of her novels, the female characters have traditional views on motherhood and what it means to be a female but never before have I been offended by one of Mrs. Browns books.

I thought the story line could have been amazing. The execution of that story line was lacking. The story moved far to fast and it didn't flow together through out the book. I had a hard time figuring out how the two of them hadn't killed each other by the time the weekend at the cabin was up. My other issue was how the book ended, I didn't like that a lot of the problem was solved by a fight and an epiphany.

I received this book as part of a Goodreads First-Reads Giveaway.

It was just like any other fluffy romance. This had a cute storyline, though. I never thought I'd ever read a romance where the male lead was a minister! But, it was refreshing to see a romance where the couple was adamant about not having sex until they were married.

It was a sweet and fluffy story. Nothing I'd go out of my way to pursue and find in a bookstore...but cute nonetheless.

I liked it.
Set in early 1980's this is the story of what happens when a hot minister meets a nude model he can't resist who also happens to be his stepsister? Very silly but entertaining as the minster tries so hard to deny his attraction. I thought it would be like The Thorn Birds but had no substance and overall was a fluffy book wouldn't recommend
