4.5 Kickass Blacktop 'Cowgirl’ Stars!! Another winner in this awesome series! August Fletcher…YUM!

Tanna Barker finds herself in Muddy Gap Wyoming, after a devastating accident and the traumatic events that followed. It’s left her with a paralyzing fear of the animals and the sport she loves so much, horses and barrel racing. She finds herself back with her friends, and is temporarily employed at the Split Rock lodge while she decides what to do with her life. August Fletcher, the local large an

Recommends it for: Fans of the author's "Rough Riders" series
It just gets better and better..

I didn't realize how much I enjoyed this one until after I finished it...and then kept thinking about it!

World champion barrel racer Tanna Barker (36) had been introduced in a previous book in the series, as well as the hero, veterinarian August "Fletch" Fletcher (I always wanted him to get his own book!). I wasn't that enthralled with Tanna at first (seemed a little too slutty for my tastes), but boy did she grow on me by the end of the book! It's a testament to

Omg. I know it took me awhile to read this book, I was just trying to savor it!! I LOVED IT!!! I think LJ could write a series on just the Muddy Gap Lillie's!! They r too much. I lo Ed the interaction between Tanna and Fletch. I think this is one of my new favorites of the BTC Series!!

Still not loving on Lainie, but I got past it!

Tanna you broken soul....momma wanted to wrap you up in a big ole hug!

I loved how these two, who didn’t even know each other’s name, grew to be friends, then lovers and finally soul mates. When you love something, set it free. If it comes back…it’s yours. If it doesn’t…it never was!

Lorelei James writes amazing stories about flawed people who have amazing sex lives and work it hard to get their happily ever after.

It is not a secret that Ms. James writes some of the best contemporary western romances to grace the erotic genre. Her heroes are swoon worthy, and her heroines are more than likable.

If you are not a newbie to Ms. James’ work, Turn and Burn will not disappoint you. August “Fletch” Fletcher and Tanna Barker’s story starts out with a bang and will leave you grinning throughout the entire book.

From the beginning of the book tall, dark, and sexy Veterinarian Fletch knows what he wants, and that is t

Tanna Barker experienced a disastrous injury that has manifested into a full-blown phobia of horses. She has lost her love for barrel racing as the rest of her world falls apart. Unexpectedly, her mother dies, then her father remarries and has sold the ranch, leaving her feeling adrift with no real purpose.

She stumbles on August Fletcher, a veterinarian in a hot one-night stand but after that explosive night of chemistry, both of them are wondering if this could be something more. Fletch soon fi

Did not keep my interest.

I read the first 200 pages and the last 4 chapters. Not enough story. Characters not interesting enough. I’ve really enjoyed some of her other books but this one felt like she had nothing to write about. If you’ve not read this author before, note that her Cowboy books have erotic and graphic sex scenes.

The books I liked were Cowgirl Up and Ride, All Jacked Up, and Raising Kane.

I read an Uncorrected Proof - Not for Sale.

Ok I’ll admit it.. I’m totally fangirl crazy over Lorelei James. I may even have a small girl crush on her. She totally sucked me in from the first novella I read by her, and this latest release Turn and Burn is beyond freaking fantastic. I literally sat down to read it and could not put it down till I finished. I was so drawn into the lives of both of these two people. I have to say one of my bi

Former barrel racing champion Tanna Barker is looking for a fresh start. After a bad accident on her horse, Tanna is afraid to get back on the saddle. Tanna’s afraid of a lot of things really—horses, men, relationships, her former life in Texas. So she's packed up and is temporarily moving to Wyoming to work at the Split Rock, a resort that’s owned by one of her friend’s husband. And what does Miss Tanna do her first night in town? She hooks up with a random (and tota

I completely flipped over Fletch and Tanna. Tanna has been one of those characters that since the first time she came on the page I have WANTED, no NEEDED her story. She's fun, a bit of a smart ass, interesting, broken, stubborn, and full of passion. What's not to love, right? So for me, as much as I absolutely fell in love with Fletch, I admit to having a total girl crush on her. The parts in the book that showed her fire and strength were the best for me.

Fletch is.....wow, what isn't he? He's

A 4.5 star book for me:

As much as I've loved Lorelei's Rough Rider series, the Blacktop Cowboy series has seriously grown on me and while Bran and Harper (Saddled & Spurred) continue to be my favorite couple in this series and Bran is still my top man, Dr. August "Fletch" Fletcher has given him a serious run for the money. More than that though, I loved the hard road to a relationship that Fletch and Tanna had to travel to get to their happily ever after. It proved that Tanna is the tough Te

Tanna’s friends helped her get a summer job in Muddy Gap at the local resort as she’s trying to overcome her new fear of horses. She suffered a horrible accident during one of her barrel racing competitions that left her badly injured and her horse having to be put down. She hasn’t been able to get close to a horse since and she’s dealing with nightmares and guilt that she let her horse down. While she’s in Muddy Gap for the summer, she’s t

I said it once, and I'll say it again....Lorelei James is one of the best Western Romance writers out there. She puts so much heart and soul in to her characters that they just jump right off the pages and in to the hearts of every reader. You will fall in love with Tanna and Fletch instantly! I must admit that this is the first Blacktop Cowboy book I have read, and now I am kicking myself in the ass for not starting this series sooner!

Favorite Quote: “Ride me, cowgirl.”

Tanna Barker was at the top of the rodeo world with three world championships under her belt and an endless supply of willing cowboys to ride. That was until a rodeo injury sidelined her and she lost everything. With her family gone and her reputation in shreds, Tanna heads to Muddy Gap, Wyoming for a chance to lick her wounds and regroup. When her sexy one night stand shows up in the daylight lookin

I won this book from the Goodreads giveaway. I'll give it 3.5 stars leaning towards 4, so I put 4 stars above. I broke my own rule by reading this book - #5 in a series when I haven't read books 1-4. So, while I liked this book, I may come back and reassess my star rating after I've read the first books. Lots of characters to keep straight which I think would have been easier if I'd read the earlier books. As for the main characters, I actually found Tanna a little hard to like. Absolutely loved this book. Tan a and Fletch were great characters. I liked that they were a bit older and had to get things ready in their lives. It seemed more genuine. I also liked that Fletch was able to help Tanna get back to riding horses and barrel racing. Plus it was a HEA. Can't wait for the next one.

Tanna was my kind of gal. She tries to hide how she really feels behind a big wall. She plays herself off as a tough cookie when in reality she is loving and caring. Too much has happened and she is trying to move on with her life with the help of some close friends. Little does she know after one night with a man she would see him again in an unlikely place.

Fletcher could not get this woman out of his mind after their one night of love making. He gets back to work and goes to see one of his fri

Tanna is spending her summer in Muddy Gap while she gets her life back together after the accident that has kept her away from what she loves - horses and barrel racing. Never one to think twice about spending the night with a guy, she hooks up with a handsome, enigmatic man.

Fletch doesn't have time for a relationship, but after seeing his friends settling down he feels like something's missing from his life. But again, his practice as a large animal veterinarian doesn't leave him much time to

Two years have passed since the events of One Night Rodeo and Tanna has had a hard time of it up to and including an accident that ended both her career and her horse's. That's how a nice Texas girl ending up in Muddy Gap, Wyoming looking over the crop of cowboys and wanna be cowboys while licking her wounds. I did not read the previous 4 books in the series, but I don't suppose that matters. A lot of them made an appearance in this book, so readers are updated on their "happily ever afters" and all their babies.

I have to be honest. At first, I did not like Fletch at all. After Tanna agrees to a no- names one night stand with him, he gets all super douche on her and possessive. I mean, seriously dud, she didn't tell you her name and you AGREED to that. Then because you randomly felt something differ

I’ve been a faithful follower of Lorelei James, and I’ve recommended her often to library patrons. So I’m familiar with her style of writing, and she always writes strong heroines. But I think that Tanna might be the most sexually confident character she’s written yet. Tanna is comfortable with her sexual side, but not so much her emotional one. After a rodeo injury (and limited funds) cause her to return to her hometown, she’s unsure what she needs to do next – especially when she can’t even ge ...more

Turn and Burn is book 5 in Lorelei James other cowboy series (it may be less well know but it is every bit as good) Blacktop Cowboys, about rodeo cowboys. This book is written and can be read as a stand alone or as part of the series as a whole.

Talk about a steamy hot romance set in Wyoming. Just what I needed to read on a hot summer day!

Tanna is one of those female characters that I just love to read about. She is strong yet still very female. She tries to hide how scared she is but those who know her best can see her pain. I think she is one of my favorite characters that I have read this year.

One thing I loved about the plot is that the romance felt real. It wasn’t love at first sight and bam they are in bed together. No they took t

TURN AND BURN, Book 5 of Lorelei James' Blacktop Cowboys is a wonderful addition to the series. If you haven't started reading this series, you need to! But, I strongly suggest you start from the beginning and read them in order.

Fletch didn't leave much of an impression on me from the earlier books. Maybe because the hardworking veterinarian's appearances were so brief. Now that I know him better, however, I love him! He's the perfect combination of smart, sweet, funny and commanding. Oh yeah, a

Thsi book was disgusting from start to finish. The jacket cover does not truly reflect what the book is about. I did not like this book at all. It was painful to read. About page 20 I was ready to throw it in the trash. The story line is raunchy, the characters are raunchy, the language is raunchy. It belongs in an adult bookstore. I couldn't develop a report or empathy for the characters. She is self centered and shallow, he is boring. The authors idea of what PTSD is and what causes it, is an ...more

Tanna was hurt in a barrel racing accident and hasn't been able to get on a horse again. Unfortunately, that kind of leaves her floundering as barrel racing was her life. Turn and Burn is Ms. James' 5th book in the Blacktop Cowboys Series. As soon as sexy, sassy barrel racer, Tanna Barker meets August Fletcher the overworked vet, the sparks fly!!

She is second guessing herself and her abilities to ride again. August Fletcher spent one night with the barrel racer and cannot stop thinking about her. He soon learns that if
