This is probably the best piece of fantasy that I have ever read.

Having said that, fantasy is not my genre, especially in its classical form of the sword and sorcery subgenre. Let Maps to Others is an adventure story, told in first person by a scholar (I don’t think we ever get his name) who is an expert on the writings of Aeneas Peregrinus. Aeneas, three hundred years prior, discovered and wrote about a prosperous country called Essecuivo. The location of this place was lost and has since become mythical until our main character goes on a journey to find Essecuivo, along with a duke who finances the expedition.

K.J. Parker is a pseudonym. The author's true name has never been revealed.

According to the biographical notes in some of Parker's books, Parker has previously worked in law, journalism, and numismatics, and now writes and makes things out of wood and metal. It is also claimed that Parker is married to a solicitor and now lives in southern England. According to an autobiographical note, Parker wa...more
