I have read a lot of Sarah MAYBERRY books over the years. Always set Down Under, a place I have never visited but would love to some day. There are a few authors that I buy automatically for a nice, romantic read with ordinary heros and heroines, no millionaires, no whips and paddles…. Just a good read with enough good sex to keep me interested. This was a freebie and I wonder how many of you out there download the freebies and NEVER read them. I must admit I do it a lot but with Sar

I decided to read The Other Side of Us by Sarah Mayberry because it seems like her name has been popping up everywhere lately. Some of my favorite blogs have read, reviewed and enjoyed her books. I decided to jump on the bandwagon and see what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me so much...

You guys. This is going to be a tough review to write, because to be honest? I didn't enjoy much of anything about The Other Side of Us. The characterization, plot and writing all had

Oliver Barrett and Mackenzie Williams want nothing to do with each other. They came to the town of Flinders to hide and recuperate. Mackenzie from an accident that scarred her and changer her life irreversibly, Oliver from the fact that his wife cheated from the time they returned from their honeymoon.

Good book. Oliver has come to clear out his late aunt's house and try to get himself back together after finding out about his wife's unfaithfulness. He tried a couple times to make friends with Mackenzie, especially since their dogs were certainly enamored of each other. Both times he'd gotten the door slammed in his face. Mackenzie was staying in the cottage next door as she recovered from a car accident that nearly killed her. She hadn't meant to be so rude to Oliver but he had caught her at ...more

I started this last night early-ish (thank heaven) and couldn't put it down until I'd finished (later than I'd like, but not devastatingly so). My huge crush on Oliver might have played a role. He's one of those humble almost-alphas who truly care about the people around him and love to care for and protect them. But I liked Mackenzie, too, as a take-charge woman working her way back from a recent devastating accident (with accompanying reevaluation of her life and goals). Their relationship was ...more

Sarah Mayberry has proven time and again that she is adept at stories in which both her main characters are struggling. Hot Island Nights and The Last Goodbye are good examples. In The Other Side of Us she does it again. Mackenzie Williams is recovering from a horrific auto accident and Oliver Barrett is trying to get past his wife's betrayal. After a rocky start, the two unhappy people slowly warm up to each other as friends, and then lovers. Most of the book is comprised of scenes and conv

Sarah Mayberry is one of my favorite contemporary romance authors and when I saw this pre-order freebie, I had to grab it! If you're a fan, or if you've never even heard of her but enjoy a well written romance with fantastic characters, don't wait! Get this one while it's still free! You won't be disappointed.

Lovely story. Nicely done romance.

I really enjoyed the relationship - how the characters were dealing with their own issues and with each other. Oliver was hurt by his wife. It will be hard for him to trust again. He is separated and going through a divorce. Mackenzie has been going through rehab and is recovering from an auto accident. Their dogs were a fun addition to the story.

Harlequin Super Romance #1824

I know that many readers discount series books, thinking that they have very little to do with real life, with their princes and billionaires. Do not discount Sarah Mayberry and especially this book. Many books that I read have are filled with lust and longing, but have very little to do with love and caring but that is not the case with The Other Side of Us.

The Other Side of Us by Sarah Mayberry is about Oliver and Mackenzie, both of whom have been hurt and had the course of their life changed and are struggling to move past it.

When the book begins, Oliver discovers that his wife of six years has been cheating on him their entire marriage and he didn't have a clue. He feels angry, betrayed and dismayed, so now in the middle of divorce proceedings, he takes a leave of absence from his work and moves next door to the heroine temporarily. The last th
Sweet, romantic and heartwarming. It starts with slamming doors, one promiscuous little dog and a hole riddled fence fence. This book was just one big feel good read. The characters are smart, articulate and carry some battle scars from the past that they are both trying to recover from. His are emotional hers are physical. They meet have good conversations, share comfort in each others company till something more starts to build. These adults act like adults and it is a very nice thing to read. ...more

An absolutely beautiful and wispy read. With a lot of humorous ruckuses involving the dogs.

This is a story of how two very recently wounded people came upon each other and became friends not by choice but because of their pet dogs.

Oliver and Mackenzie's relationship turned from neighbours to friends to lovers was very realistic and believable. Their romance didn't happen as fast as the speed of light like in the other books, made it very pleasant to read.

I didn't usually like reading narrative

My first and most probably not my last from this author.
I really liked the overall contemporary tone of the story.
I did not like much the female lead at first, though she managed to grow on me after a while, by showing her failings and frailties. The hero was almost too good to be true, but almost only.
The story line, though quite classic with nothing outstanding or really new, was well paced and worked really well.
The dogs' antics were limited enough not to become overwhelming in the story, b

I won't say this is my favorite Mayberry novel, but it's definitely somewhere among them. It's a wonderful story about two people finding each other when everything else in their lives went wrong.

Oliver just found out his wife cheated on him...repeatedly...ever since they got married. Tough luck, I seriously felt for him. To find out that six years of your life had been one constant lie, it must be awful. So naturally

THE OTHER SIDE OF US was a really good book about first impressions, healing, and finding love when you least expect it

I really enjoyed how the story started off. Everything wasn’t already in place. Instead we, the readers, find out alongside Oliver Barrett (Garrett? Back of book says Barrett, inside book says Garrett) as he discovered his wife’s infidelity. Needing to get away, he travels to his deceased aunt’s house to fix it up.

There, he meets his unruly neighbor Mackenz
Sarah Mayberry feels like a new discovery for me. A second wind that is sending me rushing through everything I love so much about a really good, solid contemporary romance. This is where character counts. Everything comes down to the two leads when you don't have car chases, epic quests or dragons. It all comes down to chemistry, growth, humor and the unfolding of a romance. It comes down to the story of two people and whether they're strong enough to carry it.

Maybe not everyone thinks of all

I've never read Sarah Mayberry before. And with The Other Side of Us, I can assure you that I'll be reading a lot more of her.

Oliver has just discovered that his wife of six years, Edie, had been cheating on him for the entire course of their marriage with her ex-boyfriend. Shocked and heart-broken, Oliver moves away from the city and goes to his Aunt Marion;s house, volunteering to prep his dead aunt's house for sale. With him is his adorable little dog, Strudel.

The Other Side of Us by accomplished Australian author Sarah Mayberry, was brilliant. As is her normal standard, the book was intelligently written, heart-warming, sexy and full of witty humor.

Passionate and intelligent Mackenzie Williams was determined to conquer her devastating injuries sustained the previous year, and return to her ‘normal’ life in the City as Producer of a television mini-series. She had chosen her picturesque beach residence in southern Australia’s Flinders for her convales

I waffled over that rating but I did actually straight-up love this. I didn't know anything about this book except that two people meet and don't exactly get along but their dogs. get super along. and this book ended up being so much more than that? I loved the way Mayberry fleshed these two leads out - the way they think, the way they feel. The first 2-3 chapters could easily have been a pain under any other author, imo, but it was kind of a delight to see how people can get their wires crossed ...more

Sarah Mayberry is fast becoming a must buy author for me. I love her Australian settings and her strong heroines. Mackenzie takes charge in the end to bring about this HEA, her heroes are sensitive guys in addition to being strong and masculine. I love that too. Although this wasn't my absolute favorite book by this author, I still enjoyed it and will continue to read her wonderful books!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and enjoy this arc.

The beginning of this book felt almost like the cold open of a tv show. Apropos, considering the heroine is a producer of a popular daytime soap opera.

However, the intriguing promising set up doesn't translate to an electrifying romance.

Sarah Mayberry is a great writer and this book is excellently written.

She also creates wonderfully nuanced characters -- again, very much on display here. The hero Oliver is reeling from the break-up of his marriage and the deep sense of utter betrayal that comes

Loved this! This was my first Sarah Mayberry and I am SOLD. I have just picked up another few of hers and shall begin work on the backlist post haste!

This story was set in Australia. I recommend you read everything in an 'Strailian accent to maximize on your enjoyment.

What I liked:
1) H & h each have a dog. The pooches are much less slow than their owners about developing their doggy affection for one another. This could have been SO corny, but Ms. Mayberry dealt with these side characters wi

From the time that she first “stole” paper from kindergarten and stapled it together to make “books,” Sarah has always wanted to be a writer. In line with this ambition, on graduation from high school she completed a bachelor of arts degree majoring in professional writing, then sat down to write a book. When ins ...more
