Against the odds keeps you guessing right to the end who is trying to kill Alex and Sabrina. The action and drama are nonstop. Thier a few love scenes that I skipped over.
Sabrina Eckhart hired Alex Justice former Navy pilot now P.I. to fly her out to the property she inheirited and help her find the mine her Uncle found.
On thier way out to the deseret to find the property the helicoptor they rented started to have problems. Alex used all his skills to get them down without killing themsel

These are my thoughts and feeling while reading:

0.0% Hopefully I'll get a chance to start this soon :) Looking forward to it - I miss reading haha :) This also seems good; Im excited to start this one usually Im nervous with this series - i think its coz im in the mood for romantic suspense and because its been a few days since Ive read anything :)
This weekend has been so busy I literally havent even started this and I wanted to 3 days ago!! Ive decided not to read this yet but reread rock chick
Good book. Rina's life as a stockbroker has taken a bit of a downturn, but she feels that she can turn it around if she can find the silver mine on the property her uncle left her. She needs a pilot who can fly her over the land to look for it, and the best man for the job is Alex. She hires him to do the job, and ends up grateful for his skills, as the helicopter they use is sabotaged and they end up stranded in the desert for a couple days.

Rina thinks Alex is pretty sexy, but that he's also an
Against the Odds by Kat Martin is a romantic suspense tale set in Texas that features Sabrina (Rina) Eckhart who is searching for a way to deal with the change in her financial circumstances due to the vagaries of the stock market. She hires private investigator Alex Justice whom she knows because of his association with her best friend’s husband. Unfortunately, what seems to be a straightforward case of investigating her recently deceased uncle’s legacy of a mine rapidly ratchets up into a deat ...more
Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. I loved it, Sabrina Eckhart is sure the mine she has inherited from her eccentric uncle has a lode of silver. She just needs someone she trusts to help her prove it. Alex Justice, is arrogant and cocky, all the things you would expect from a former flyboy turned private investigator. He has also proven to be a man who will have your back, which is exactly what the heroine Rina needs and why it is believable she would ask a guy sh ...more

I really enjoyed this book, it had everything in it... A good mystery, suspense, romance, hot sex, great characters and an awesome plot. I really liked both Alex and Sabrina( the main characters). I thought they were both very likeable, strong characters who clearly belonged together.I loved how they were able to work together to solve the mystery of all the accidents that were occurring.

I also really liked the secondary storyline running through the book of Alex's sister, Rebecca and Joe ( I w

Not sure whether the case was too hot to handle or not but Alex definitely was ;)

oooof steamy!

and I loved Rina.

Usually no matter how good the women are, they ending up doing something to fall off the notches but i genuinely liked Rina.

Shes smart, beautiful and knows her worth. Believe me, that goes a long way.

Great read. Loved Alex & Rina.

Oh and extra brownie points for Becca, Joe and Ginny ;)

An investigator and a stockbroker make a deal that neither of them are sure they can keep if they allow themselves to fall in love.

Sabrina "Rina" Eckhart, a stockbroker, inherits land from her uncle in west Texas and hopes that it will pan out since she's putting everything she owns on the line. Her uncle had always followed his dreams, ignoring others' doubts, but this time she's sure he's right about his land producing silver. It would have made more sense for his three children to in

Action packed romantic full of mystery that keeps you guessing.

We met Alex and Sabrina in Against the Sun book 6 of the series and these two did not like each other (but you know what that really means)

This is the 7th book of the series and I think they keep getting better.

Sabrina Eckhart not only lost her retirement on the stock market but due to the times she is now on a leave of absence from her job. Worried about her future she decides when her Uncle Walter leaves her in his will a vast a

Author Kat Martin continues her "The Raines of Wind Canyon" series with Book #7, "Against the Odds"--a highly-charged romantic suspense adventure! Old secrets blend with modern mysteries in an action-packed tale that has the hero and heroine on the run from a treacherous enemy, and on their guard against falling hard for each other! By the time Sabrina Eckhart inherits three thousand acres of West Texas desert from her Uncle Walter, her career as stockbroker is sputtering, and her personal finan ...more

Once again Kat Martin has given us nail biting greatness!! This is a great book and series! I highly recommend each and every one of them. If you read Against the Sun then you know there is some serious chemistry brewing between Sabrina and Alex, but that Rina fights it with everything in her.

I love these Alpha males, having read all the previous stories its neat to see alot of the characters in this story. Alex Justice is a ladies man, a player, doesn't see himself ever settling down with one woman let alone a fiery , curvy 5’1 red head. Sabrina (Rina) isn't even his type. He prefers tall svelte blondes or model types, even though they might be lacking in the brain department. Rina has absolutely no interest in the cocky flyboy Alex. Rina hires Alex for a job to fly her out to check ...more
Sadly, the Against The... series has become very predictable. I had Against the Odds figured out from page 140 on. Every plot twist and who done it. That said, I really love Kat Martin and Sabrina and Alex are a really dynamic couple. They were striking sparks off each other in #6 and this book was hot. The romance sizzled, but the suspense fizzled.

Sabrina has inherited a mine from her uncle, how much it is worth is anybody's guess. She hires Alex to help her find it and figure out what to do w

I will admit that when I started reading Against the Odds I was a bit afraid. I have not read any of the previous books in this series so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was thrilled to find a story that kept me on the edge of my seat and did not make me feel like I missed anything by not reading the earlier books!

Due to the recession Sabrina Eckhart is strapped for money. She is selling off expensive car and jewelry and now wants to find out is the land she inherited from her late Uncle Walter

Antoher moving story from Kat Martin.

This is one of my favorite series. (I had to steal a few lines out of the book that really stood out for me. I hope Kat does not mind.)

Sabrina knew how she felt. Even if it only lasted a little while she was going to take what she could get. "Alex wasn't her type and she wasn't his and both of them knew it. Still, she wasn't dead and Alex was definitely eye candy and more." :-)

Sabrina was Alex's turning point in his life. "It was new for him, this wanting t

When Sabrina inherits land with a possible gold mine hidden on it, from her Uncle, she decides to hire the best private investigator around. Alex may be amazingly good looking, he was also full of himself and known for having problems with commitment. That's fine with Sabrina who is facing some financial difficulties and only needs Alex's investigative talents. At least that's what she keeps telling herself. From the start Alex decided on a hands-off attitude where Sabrina was concerned. She was ...more
Kat Martin always entertains me with her ex-military alpha males and the woman who finally win their playboy hearts. Against the Odds is the seventh book from the Raines of Wind Canyon series but don’t let that scare you as each works as a standalone. In this novel we get smexy Alex Justice story and a side story regarding his sister and a totally lovable carpenter. Filled with action, suspense and a hot sizzling romance with just enough heat I quickly consumed this.

Alex works with his former mi
Sabrina Eckhart is left property that contains a mine. She hires Alex Justice, private investigator, to help her find the mine. On the way to the site, their helicopter crashes, leaving them stranded. Luckily, a rescue party finds them. Then more mysterious accidents occur to Sabrina so Alex must find the persons behind all this before Sabrina is killed. She tries to fight her attraction to Alex, but as in all good romance books, the romance wins while the bad guys are defeated.
I got this because it was Jack Garrett narrating. It was a DNF halfway through. Not because the story is bad but because I was hoping for more suspense than romance. This book had more of the latter. The MCs weren't all that compelling either so, for a romance-driven book, it became boring.

Because Garrett narrates both this series and the Brodies of Alaska series, I'll try one Brodies book next.
Kat Martin did it again with this wonderful suspense romance. She continues to write good books and this one is no exception. There is a nice amount of mystery suspense and romance keep her interested. The main characters are Sabrina and Alex. You also have a good supply of supporting characters. There's more than one suspenseful mystery situation going on in this book and another Sweet love story going on. If you're looking for a good book to read you should give this boot a try.
This one was just okay. I have been enjoying the series, and this was a decent addition to it--just not as strong as some of the earlier books. Alex and Rina are both likable characters, and it was nice to see some of the characters from the other books again as well. This story just didn't knock my socks off, that's all. It was a decent read. Its only real flaws are that it felt as if it went on for far longer than it should have and there seemed like an excessive amount of repetition throughou ...more
Sabrina, silver and sabotage. Mmm, Enter hotshot hunk Alex Justice.
Broke stockbroker Sabrina Eckhart has inherited a mine and someone(s) out to make sure she never gets anything out if it. So Sabrina turns to Alex, a former Navy SEAL turned PI, to find out if there is anything worth digging out of the ground, and who is trying to kill her.
Suspects range from a neighboring mine outfit to her nearest and dearest. And the situation is complicated by the lust arcing between these two.

This excellent series by Martin continues on a high note. Alex Justice and Sabrina Eckhart are the main characters in this book. Sabrina is friends with Sage, Jake's wife.

There is a parallel story about Alex's divorced sister, her daughter and a friend of Alex's from the navy. Lots of intregue, lots of unexpected turns in plot, lots of hot sex and the bringing down of a world class playboy is executed to prefection.

Sabrina has inherited a silver mine. Three attempts on her life tell her someon
A great continuation of the series - this time it is Alex and Rina's story but we meet up with all the guys that work with Alex at Atlas Security. Heart racing moments with lots of twists and turns. Several happily ever afters but lots of loose ends to continue into the next books in the series. Looking forward to reading them all.

Awesome book! I love reading books by Kat Martin. She has the wonderful ability to balance a suspenseful story with romance, mystery, intrigue and even crime drama.

There were so many sub-plots going on in this story, too. This was very true to life in that fashion. I'd recommend this book to anyone. You're in for a real treat!
This is book seven of the Raines of Wind Canyon. I've read a couple in this series.
This was a really good book.
Apparently, in a previous book, when Sabrina met Alex at her best friends wedding, she didn't like him at all. Alex didn't have quite the same feelings when they met.
Alex is a private investigator and a former navy fighter pilot. He 's an arrogant pain in the ass but she needs his skills to help her track down the silver mine her uncle left her in his will. The helicopter crash that lea

I found this book to be a fun and entertaining read.. The characters were entertaining and well developed, as was the story.
The pacing was excellent, the various problems for the protagonists multitudinous but this one isn't as good as the previous books in this series. A bit too much stretching to reach the required state of affairs between the lovers. There were many good parts to it though. I particularly liked the way Martin dealt with stranding the couple in the desert. The style in which she had them cope is believable enough and even delightful. By and large I enjoyed both Sabrina and Alex though his reasons f ...more

Sabrina and Alex met awhile back via Jake and Sara...Sabrina and Sara are best friends; Jake and Alex are buddies and work together. Sabrina always thought of Alex as an arrogent ass, but there was definitely an attraction. Alex is the ultimate playboy..usually goes for the tall/blonde/model type (Sabrina is a spit-fire redhead).
Sabrina inherits some land/possible mine and hires Alex who is a PI. A separate story is also hatching with a case that Alex helped put a child-killer away
