His Mistletoe Family talks of lost, and opens one's eyes to the lost of a soldier, at least in the eyes of their family. Reading this novel pulls all the emotional strings I have during times of "family gatherings", you know, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Easter...etc. Every day should be time together and have a family meal. I still remember growing up to dinner at 6:30 PM, all around the dinner table, eating family style. Now, it's hard to "gather the troops".

This is a simple and sweet

I love to read the LI books, this one is by Ruth Logan Herne "His Mistletoe Family" A Christmas story

Brett is one tough man in his community and when a little slip of a gal comes in with a couple of tiny kids he loses his heart almost instantly to the little needy family.
Haley has just taken her nephews to raise after they have lost both of their parents and she is not sure how to be a mama but if Love can help her she will do right by these little ones.
She has just began a new project at work

I really enjoyed this sweet story about a retired Army Colonel and a young entrepreneur in Upstate NY who find romance and comfort in one another's arms. Haley Jennings loves a challenge in business--she has started a co-op in her grandfather's old factory right during the Christmas rush, which would be a daunting task for the most focused among us. But then, a monkey wrench is thrown into her life--her brother has left his two young sons into her care.

With a five and a three year old in the ba

His Mistletoe Family is a great read for the Christmas season. I didn't want to stop reading this book as the characters were so real. The community where Haley and Brett lived assisted one another when there was a need. Haley was in need when she arrived with her two young nephews, after they had lost their parents. Will Haley be able to learn to trust Brett and others when they offered to assist with her young nephews? If you enjoy a heartwarming book this will be the one to read this Christma ...more

My heart went out to Haley and Brett . . .

Haley unexpectedly becomes a mom to two small boys — at the worst possible time.

She’s just began a new business and with the holidays, she has her hands full. But when her nephews are orphaned, she drops everything to bring them back to live with her.

Brett, a retired Army Colonel, has been struggling for a long while, yet he puts himself out there and jumps in to help Haley and the boys.

This is such a sweet, heart-warming story — I know you’ll love it as

Ruth Logan Herne has the amazing ability to write a story that just sucks you into the character's lives. I love how she writes a story that has realistic conflicts and true to life characters. In His Mistletoe Family, Brett and Haley are brought together through circumstances that just melt your heart. So many times through this book I felt as if Brett was just the best type of man for Haley. Bring in two adorable little boys and you are set for a ready made family. I also like how each charact ...more

Another good one!

This book could not be put down, it was so heartwarming. Past wrongs can be overcome, the way you were treated as a child doesn't have to be the way you treat your loved ones. You can break the cycle. Ruth, you have a wonderful gift of empathy and telling a story that both touches the heart and teaches a lesson. I highly recommend this book.

Haley never expected to be responsible for her 2 nephews and trying to run a business at the same time. She feels overwhelmed. Retired Colonel Brett is a help and a distraction. Can she learn to adjust he priorities and make it all work

Adorable characters and intriguing premise. I especially enjoyed the scene where Brett takes the boys, ages 5 and 3, shopping for the first time. He wonders why a man, who commanded combat troops, is at a lost keeping up with two little boys. Brett, and the boys, brought a smile to my face.

This was a cute story and perfect to read during the Christmas season. Ruth Logan Herne really knows how to humanize her characters. Her stories are realistic and very relatable to every day life. I look forward to reading any future books by this author.
