That cover is the epitome of perfection.
So perfect that is should be on my shelves.
Like, right now.
I'm waiting.

Anticipated......It can't possibly be as good as we expect, can it? Then I thought that about the Dark Tower finale......
A sequel, huh? I didn't feel much for Danny when I was going through The Shining since Jack Torrance pretty much had me by the balls, but I guess - this being a Stephen King book - I can give it a try.
Oh, who am I kidding?

I'm one of those people that not only did not like "The Shining" but hated it. One of the reasons is probably having an annoying kid as a main character. I hate kids. I hate them in movies, television and in novels. Another reason why I hated the first book was because I opened it hoping to read an actual horror novel, one that will actually get me scared or at least give me goosebumps and well it didn't. So now I will be reading this with low expectations. And also, I like the concept of Danny'...more
Get ready. If I can make just one recommendation: whether you're a longtime King fan or fairly new to his stuff, it wouldn't be the worst thing to read The Shining before you get your hands on Doctor Sleep. The movie, while amazing in its own right, is very different in many ways, and doesn't even begin to plumb the psychological depths that the book does. You could read and love Doctor Sleep without doing so, but I think people's experiences of this sequel will only be enriched by first checkin...more

I'm super excited for this book to come out. The Shining was amazing and it'll be interesting to see how Danny turns out. But am I the only one who will be disappointed if the Overlook isn't revisited in this book? Considering the ending of the Shining, I feel like it wouldn't be very hard to bring Danny back to it.
This is a sequel to The Shining.
I'm going to go ahead and repeat that: This is a sequel to THE SHINING.
O_O
It will be epic, either as a success or a failure. I'm pulling for success, of course. Stephen King is the man.

I've just finished "The Shinning" and I thought it was a great story. It had lots of the elements I came to love of horror stories: isolation, paranoia, ghosts, supernatural forces & powers, etc. When I read online that Stephen King was working on a sequel, I became instantly hooked on finishing it as soon as possible so I can read its next chapter. :) That's going to be a 32 years old sequel... so there are lots of anticipation from this guy right here. ;)

Can't wait :).
Is this an autobiography?
I'm number two, I'm number two!! In line, that is. I would be seriously embarrassed for you all to know how obsessively I've been checking my library's catalog to see if they had this on order yet. Now I can finally breathe. I've even re-read The Shining already, so everything will be fresh in my mind when I get this in September. Did I already mention I'm obsessing?
