In this delightful eBook short story, Monica McInerney, internationally bestselling author of The Alphabet Sisters, returns to one of her warmest, wisest, and most memorable characters: the irrepressible Lola Quinlan, quick with a smile and spot of tea, who always has a generous dose of mischief up her sleeve.

I've read and enjoyed most of Monica McInerney's books, so I was happy to find this short story by her featuring Lola from her book The Alphabet Sisters. Lola's keeping busy, working in a thrift shop and helping local teens find appropriately awful clothes for an upcoming dance. While there, she hears a boy's plan to humiliate some local girls and has to decide what to do.

This was such a quick read, and while I found Lola and her new friend charming, the actual "action" was pretty tame. The plot

Sweer Charity - a sweet read!

An endearing story about a most colorful elderly woman. and the kindness and caring she bestows upon those who struggle with life's challenges. I cheered the payback moment when a mean-spirited young man is humbled in his selfishness. This lovely story is a "feel good" read. I wish I had this little shop in my neighborhood!

Just a pleasant (and free!) short story from an author I saw mentioned on a blog.

I enjoyed it a lot and liked the characters. I've got so many other things to read at the moment that I'm not rushing out to buy anything else by the author, but I'd be willing to try her books at some other time.
