Is Jessica as grown-up as she thinks she is?

Elizabeth Wakefield knows her beautiful twin is more than a match for almost any guy out there. Most guys easily fall prey to Jessica’s seductive charms. But Scott Daniels, Jessica’s latest love, may be more than she bargained for. He’s much older and much more experienced than anyone Jessica’s ever dated.

Original for the Snark Squad here.

This is a book with a plot, and stuff, but clearly what you should know about this book is that it features one damn fine porn 'stache on the cover. What you should know about ME is that this made me entirely way too excited about life.

You're welcome, dear friend, for that close-up.

We open book #5 with Jessica checking herself out in a mirror. Again. Some more. It's practically tradition by now. She's asking Elizabeth if her outfit is sexy enough for her new,
i took three pages of snarky notes mostly dealing with how my hatred of jessica was almost obscured by how truly awful this freddie mercury-looking rapist on the cover was, how much enid wanted to get into elizabeth's pants, what a bitch elizabeth was, and how todd wilkins probably had at least one jail sentence as a result of his inability to deal with any level of his own anger.

Title: All Night Long
Series: Sweet Valley High #5
Author: Kate William & Francine Pascal
Overall Rating: 3 Stars

Yes! A dramatic improvement on the last one, you want to know, because we discovered that Jessica has emotions and Elizabeth isn't perfect! I mean, Francine was giving us a touch of character development here and I am liking it. I remember book 6 very well, so lets hope it continues! In this installment, Jessica goes gallivanting
I was an avid reader of SVH books a couple of decade ago and remember getting keenly involved in Liz'z and Jess's lives and petty troubles. But this one left me wondering why on earth I was that keen on the series. This one seemed contrived, cheesy, pointless. It didn;t give me the same pleasure I used to get earlier following the series. Maybe I've finally grown up (mentally, I mean)
Didn't Jessica's top just almost come off in book 3? New plot device please.

Basically Jess is slutting it up and then has to deal with an older mustached dude who pushes her too far. Oh and there's twin switching (of course.) Totally lame. But the next one...oooh, that's a doozy!
I remember having to special order this one because my local waldenbooks never seemed to have it in stock. I also remember thinking my parents would never let me read a book with such a scandalous cover. I remember thinking the word scandalous was very sophisticated, like that slutty slutty Wakefield twin.
I'm pretty sure I've never read this one before. Not much about it stuck out or seemed particularly deja-vu.

So this one had a really short time line: only a week. It started on a Sunday and was over on the following Saturday. Not that that's really relevant to anything, but I just thought it was neat.

This book was also over way too fast. Like, Jessica pretty much figured out that Scott was no good almost immediately. The bulk of the novel was then Elizabeth trying to cover for Jess, as Jess wait

I was a little scared to read this book I mean what if it was BAD!!!!! I mean it says ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!! now when I look back........... dude looks like a PEDOPHILE
Oh my Gosh!!! Jessica's boyfriend is in college and he thinks that makes it OK to try and take her bikini top off! NO!!!!
It was hard to put these down, it became my personal goal to read them all!!!! (said with an evil laugh).
Jessica, you slut, going around with a guy who looks like a gay porn star!
I think I was a little young when I read this one, lol

Bad. So bad.

OMG, Jessica is dating Pornstache from Orange is the New Black!!! Look, proof!!!

This book was so horribly disgusting, like the last one, but I had to give this a one star. Seriously, Scott is so gross. But I was so surprised the authors didn't take it all the way. It's weird that they really don't mention S-E-X in any of these early books. Oh yeah, they make out and Scott slips his hands down Jess' bikini bottoms, but that's it. **Trigger warning: Are you seriously telling me that t

Elizabeth's severe case of Doormatism finally flipped from annoying to amusing when she reached the point of berating herself for not having done a better job of taking a test AS JESSICA while her sister was busy with Rapey McPornstache.
Meanwhile Jessica reached glorious new heights of sociopathy, blaming Liz for the test results, for not making her stay in Girl Scouts when they were children, and accusing her of wanting McPornstache for herself.
Todd briefly grows a pair and tells off Liz for co
Jessica wants a college boy Scott Daniels, who is clearly too experienced for her. But, what Jessica wants, Jessica gets. In this case, she gets a whole lotta trouble too when she sneaks off to an all night party at a lake with college kids. She also puts her twin Elizabeth into a position where she must lie for her, cover for her, pretend to be her, and fight with her boyfriend Todd.

The only thing I will say about the book is that back then either date rape wasnt a meaningful subject or the au
Jessica is a selfish jerk to her twin sister. Jessica is dating a college boy named Scott even though she is only 16 and her parents dissaprove. Elizabeth tries to warn Jessica that Scott is too old for her but Jessica doesn't listen. Jessica goes to a beach party even though she's not supposed to and gets left to find a way back home when Scott leaves her alone in a boathouse because she didn't give him enough of herself. Jessica makes Elizabeth cover up for her by pretending to be her. Elizabe ...more

This one's a bit odd because the "all night long" bit of the book takes up maybe the first third. And then it's mostly about Liz and Todd's first fight and Todd's standard prattishness with a bit of Enid being totally in love with Liz and then Sudden Surf Championship.

Also, I always find it fun how the juniors in Sweet Valley never ever would consider having sex. Face it, there is no way that Jessica Wakefield would wait until uni in this day and age.

[re-read: previously read around four times
This book is really good if you want a good quick-read story. It doesn't take long to finish and has a GREAT plot line. I highly recommend it.

This is by far my most favorite Sweet Valley High cover ever. College boy Scott is obviously the bad boy (note the porn star mustache and shocking 'All Night Long' title). Sadly, the most exciting thing that happens in this book is Scott tries to remove Jessica's perfect size 6 red bikini top and then Jessica gets lost in the woods. Oh - and Liz ate two servings of pancakes, which may have bumped her up to a heiferish size 8.

I remember being very disappointed in the content of this book when I

Oh my God. Check out the moustache.
I thought this was going to be way more scandalous...
I despise Jessica. Like, seriously she'll do things that we'll get her in trouble then she'll start blaming everybody. Well, because of her Liz and Todd got into a fight. Anyway, I liked the scene in the Surfing Competition, too. Too much confidence in yourself will bring you down. Off to the 6th book.

I read the first twelve in the Sweet Valley High series along with a cousin who was a preteen at the time - so we could talk about them together. Even though I was past my teenage years when I read these books, I had a lot of fun reading them. Very entertaining.

I wasn't really impressed with this book. Basically Jessica stays out all night long after being stranded with the wrong kind of guy. Typical Jess. And Liz in her typical fashion pretends to be her sister so that Jessica doesn't get in trouble.
will jessica's no good college boyfriend remove her bikini top in the abandoned cabin near the lake -- will she have to pay the ultimate price for sneaking out against her parents wishes, ohh jessica how could you

This book is such a tease. A more accurate title would be Elizabeth the Drip. Jessica's sketchy date with The Stache only took a chapter. That was it. The rest was all broody Elizabeth. Color me disappointed.
